[Warning - Long Post Entry]
[A piece of advice]
If anyone meets me on AIM right after I've seen a movie I have fallen completely in love with, I advise you to not muck about with me. It is very likely that I will end up hating you.
That's how passionate of a state I am in.
Mr Star Wars got off easy - I just lost my temper/patience/control, signed off and came back when I had cooled down and got some emotions down on the comp.
Just thought I'd mention that... for future reference ~_^
**********
Hm, yeah. Lots of stuff to write about. And if I hold off posting a couple of things, I'm sure more stuff will happen – thereby further prolonging stuff needed to be posted.
So I'll divide everything into sections and you all can decide what you want to read for yourselves.
But before that, I just wanted to point out that my dreams have started to feel oddly real.
Like last night, I dreamt that PT (haha, I'm gonna take my sweet time to use your name for real *grins*) was visiting me and we decided to go for a ride. So out to the driveway we went, where a pickup/truck stood. He had two male friends with him and we quickly figured that we all wouldn't fit, someone had to stay behind.
It ended up being just me and PT going for a spin, and it was a pretty snug fit at that - as I was buckling up, PT being PT went all " Oooo, that feels good *giggling* " when I brushed against his leg ~_^
It was a nice drive. I am usually apprehensive when it's anyone but my dad or sister driving, but I was completely relaxed as we cruised the streets of my town.
Then at some point the dream changed and we were driving his dad and grandma to the hospital *blinks* I decided to leave, since I wasn't family and staying would feel awkward. PT gave me a hug before I took off, and this is what I mean with how my dreams feel so real lately. I could physically feel his arms around me, [insert other description of how a hug feels] just like you do when you're awake, and I can't remember my dreams being at that level of ... yeah. [/End dream] =P
Didn't that just fly off the chart of Intersting ? >_>;
[Article Translation]
"Aims for Physical and mental strength"
"When Johnny Edwinsson first tried out Hai dong gumdo three years ago, he was clueless about it. Now he lives for this Korean martial sport/art. This summer he'll be competing in the World Championships.
Haid dong gumdo is a Oriental martial sport/art that has been introduced to Europe in recent years. Johnny is the only one in his town to practice it. Though, he would rather call it martial art than martial sport.
- Hai dong gumdo is a physical, mental and spiritual road. A lifestyle. It's not about fighting, but to be in control of your life.
That's why it's just as much about meditation, as it is body movement.
But perhaps it is best to delve into the historical facts first.
Hai dong gumdo is a martial art with strong links to the mighty monarchy of Kokuryu. Focus was on the sword, which was to be used to fight evil and uphold justice. The warriors who attended the school of Hai dong gumdo were called Samurais. The techniques taught were used in the army, up until the 1500's when more modern weapons took over.
- But the martial arts did not vanish completely. It lived on in people's hearts, Johnny explains.
In modern times the old martial arts are once again flourishing in Korea. Now Hai dong gumdo is spread all across the globe, even though the number of followers in Europe is relatively low.
- It's different from Japanese Kendo, in that the techniques are based on battle against many opponents at once. In Kendo it's one on one.
The practice sword has no sharp edge – but there is a sharp sword. It is used for blows on bamboo sticks, apples thrown into the air or other objects.
Since there are no other Hai dong gumdos apprentices in [town], Johnny has to commute to a town 2 hours away. There he is trained by his master, Korean Simon Lim. He started out at the age of 4 – he is now 43...
The techniques Johnny is taught can be implemented as self-defence in real life, but without the swords, of course. But Johnny stresses that "you don't learn Hai dong gumdo to go on a rampage downtown".
- I can defend myself, but I don't have to draw blood with my punches. It's all about control. One delicate move and they'll be flying into the wall. But it's never happened that I've been bothered by anyone.
Johnny further shares how this martial art has changed him as a person.
- Before I started I was pretty shy and timid. But now I have more inner strength and more confidence. I used to not be able to go up to a girl and say "hello" even. My self esteem has improved a lot, by simply meditating and training.
He works as a "meat carver" at the local Swedish Meats factory. When he needs energy he can, without interrupting his tasks, gather his "ki hap" as it is called. It has a lot to do with controlling your breathing.
Johnny participated in a Hai dong gumdo exhibition in Hannover a while back. There he was awarded a medal for reaching the 1st Masters Level, which is called "The first day".
On the 20th of March he is travelling to Paris to partake in a grand showcase and come July he will compete in the World Championships in Korea.
- It's my first real tournament. It will be difficult to compete against the Koreans, because they have everything within themselves.
If all goes well in Korea, he hopes that doors open for him and opportunities arise that will enable a whole new future for him. As a fulltime instructor.
- If I make it big, start my own place and all goes well, I could get work abroad. And travel all over the world. That would be wonderful, to be able to make a living of what I love."
This was a really difficult article to translate, which I am sure can be noticed. I have no idea what other expressions there are to "martial arts", that the guy referred to when explaining that it was an "art", not a "sport" ^__^; If anyone would care to enlighten me to what other title than "martial art" there is, please go ahead and do so O.o;
[Photographs]
All the photos have been saved as png. So if anyone can't see them and is somewhat interested in seeing them, let me know and I'll work something out. I put them all on Angelfire to avoid slowing things down for those with bad internet connections. And they're basically just thrown up, since I have no patience to make things neat >_>;
[Tour Away]
1. It doesn't show up very well, but there are trees all along this [stretchy] road and it looks sooo stunning in the summer, when everything's in bloom ^_^
2. The cinema. Yeah, we got one. It's a rather good cinema, big screen and somewhat comfy chairs. Spoilt I am ~_^ (this is where I spent yesterday *grins profusely*)
3. Railroad tracks. That's the platform where you get on/off trains. On the left to this picture is where the buses stop, which you can't see but that doesn't stop me from pointing it out =P
4. Playground. I think they exchanged the roundabout at some point, it used to be huge. But I was mainly going for the sun peering from behind the tree.
5. I've developed a strong liking to trees and clouds. Now that they're stripped of leaves, they make for characteristic objects.
6. This one looks a bit like "M likes to swing" that I posted a while back *lol*
7. Two swings, whee ! >_>
8. Kenji called this a "Quater Pipe", I call it a skating ramp ;p It's right next to the [youth] recreation centre and I used to hang around it a lot when I was 13-15. Never skated on it though ^_^;
9. Se upp för tåg = Watch out for train.
10. This one's for Molly ^__^ That’s what the buses look like, some are rather enjoyable to ride, others aren't. The uncomfortable ones are the same that give the school kids their ride to/from school ~_^
11. Doesn't it look like they're ready to charge, or something ? *LOL* These are the buses that would take us on school trips and the like. Memories ^__^
12. This one goes out to Shin - It might be difficult to tell, but this is the tennis court. It's right between the playground and the town park. Come spring/summer I'll be able to take more lush pictures, just you wait and see ~_^
13. This playground was right next to the railroad tracks O.o; I hadn't seen it up until that day actually....
14. Grafitti man... on an old platform.
15. Just your general panorama view, on what lies beyond my town. Fields, farmlands, vast space O.o;
16. This is my favourite picture of all the ones I took. It looks like pebbles on a beach, but it's actually pebbles in snow ! =P
[London]
My sister is going to London in March to visit an old friend and her newly founded family (boyfriend + baby). This sparked the idea that she and I (and maybe our younger sister) go to London in the near future. Which means I get to have London pizza slices again !!! *happy dance*
You can get there cheap enough, we just need to figure out how long we'll stay and where *lol*
[The last Samurai, written last night]
"They are Perfect"
I am unable to speak. My thoughts are so crystal clear that I believe not to think at all. I am at one with my spirit, beating profusely with energy that is dying to live. I am in uproar with the incapacity to share what I refuse to separate from me.
I am one mind.
[There you have my initial attempt to write down something, right after seeing the movie. Here comes something that I managed to pull together a couple of minutes later....]
I had pretty moderate/high hopes for this movie. Tom Cruise's participation made me weary for some reason. Though I think I would've been wary with any American/English actor.
But he delivered. He took what he had and he delivered it. And he worked well with the rest of the cast.
The cast.... There is only one word for them: Samurai
There, one word. The whole of known language in one word. That is all – and everything.
So much theme, thought and feel was encapsulated into this movie. At times it felt like my spirit/soul/whathaveyou left my body and I was at one with the movie. I simply was. Right there and then. Even now, as I type. I am.
Yes, there were moments that were very "American", but I can forgive that. I can focus on what mattered, what was meant, everything else. Though I stumble on myself when trying to voice it. Which signals magnificence, worth and much more.
I am, to no one's surprise, a very emotion/thought-based person. This movie elated me beyond what I believed to be capable of sensing. There was so much thrown in your face, then something quietly appearing in the palm of your hand, which was soon replaced by a pull of a force that demanded you and all of you.
Undoubtedly I make no sense as of now. I need more, much more.
[/End]
**********
I will most likely see it again this weekend and I was enthusiastic enough about it to make the younger sister want to tag along ~_^
There'll probably be even more talk about it then and a general repetition of stuff ~_^
I am now not going to bother to check this post for grammatical errors and typos, I still have all you peoples MyO's to go through… not to mention getting acquainted with OB ^___^
Take Care Everyone !
