You're a lovely view
Echoes of London
Both Badness and Solo know where I live, so if they want to kill me for putting any pictures up .... they can O.o;;;;
But hopefully Shin will protect me, since he wants proof and I owe it to him after whooping his ass in Literati /lame excuse to show off two absolutely gorgeous people to the rest of the world.
And Alan will want to know: No, I didn't get any action. Though there was a guy in Subway that stared at me and smiled a lot ..... but I just figured he was insane.
I miss London. And Megan. And Hugo. Almost equally much. This trip really cleared a lot that I've been thinking about, in terms of dreams vs reality, and put my mind at total ease. It's one thing to say "I want to move over there!" and imagine/hope it'll be alright - and another to have the confidence behind it that you'll be alright to do so. I have that now. It's good to know.
Wednesday was all about getting from the apartment to the hotel in London, which took .... roughly 9 hours. Lots of sitting on busses and trains, just waiting to reach each designated destination. Actually finding the hotel, after reaching our tube stop, wasn't too hard but trying to understand where we were (and how to get to where we needed to go) was a tad confusing. It was a mixed bag of road signs not matching up with the map at all and being really tired after travelling all day. We managed to keep our cool, though.
The hotel rooms were decent. Far better than the Hammersmith hostel I stayed in with Angela last year, anyway. Taking the elevator one floor down felt really silly and overly luxurious, especially compared to climbing quite a few set of stairs up to Megan's flat *sweatdrop* Our only major gripe about the room was how ludicrously hard the beds were. We literally laid directly on the springs. Ouchies. My duvet (as well as the bed) was twice the size of Eleine's, so I could use half of it as an underlay of sorts and wrap the rest around me to keep warm. (I'm pretty sure I looked like a spring roll...) Poor Eleine ended up with a very sore back :-/
We didn't do much more that evening. Eleine had a pizza in the hotel restaurant and then we went to bed. Feeling very tired. The quote of the day was when we tried to do a little math and I said
"Hang on ... yesterday was the day before today ... right?".
Eleine sort of blinked and then we both burst into a fit of laughter, highly amused over just how out of it we were =)
*****
Thursday was the day of many pleasurable meetings! Before going over to England it looked like I'd "just" get to meet Megan and possibly Ger (sadly that didn't work out) but, as it turned out, Hugo came along as well *insert happy grin*
Eleine and I were doing a little bit of shopping on Oxford street (too many cute clothes in one store and not enough money caused me much [brief] agony *tear*) when he texted me with information about where he was and we met up smack-dab in the middle of Oxford Street. He was on the phone when I snuck up on him and he sort of looked like a modern pirate/ninja with his outfit, which was very becoming *nod nod* Turned out Megan was on the other end! I got to say a couple of words to her (feeling very much like a fangirl) before deciding where to meet up. Hugo was the designated map-reader so he took care of getting us around, hehe.
As we all approached Tottenham Court Road I spotted a familiar face, that lit up in a beaming smile, and thus began the awesome whirlwind-craze of happy adventures with Badness!!! She is so much more cooler than you could imagine and her wonderful spirit made me feel just as cool ^_^ You have not lived until you've met her!
When hugging and giggling had been taken care of, Megan showed us the way to her flat. It was in the most fabtastical house that resembled "The Labyrinth" with all its passageways and stairs. A game of hide-and-seek would've been muchly awesome, rawr.
Our legs got quite the workout from climbing all the way to the flat (which we did a couple of times) so the big sofas in their livingroom/kitchen got a very warm welcome from us, haha. We were introduced to some of her flatmates, all of them very nice, and then she had to be on her way to class. While she got edumacated, the rest of us took a trip back down Oxford Street for some munchies. Eleine had spotted Belgian Waffles and I was in the mood for those infamous pizza slices I've longed to nibble on for a couple of years.
Everyone got grub and we enjoyed it outside this Asian-themed restaurant, where they'd arranged a waterfall and placed low benches in front of it as seating arrangements. 'Twas nice to sit there. When dinner was finished we stocked up on water, browsed the Disney Store (where I got Eleine a huge coffee cup with Sulley on it) and decided to head back to Megan's flat.
Oooooh! Almost forgot that we made a visit to Forbidden Planet! You can't be in London and not go there, after all. Hugo found himself some goodies (which I'll leave to him to inform you about), as did Eleine and I. She got a Simpsons collection book-thingy, and I bought a My Little Pony Movie DVD for Juliette. The last time we saw that movie, we nearly died laughing. It's gonna be a blast to see it in English now!
By the time we got to the flat, Megan still wasn't out of her class and none of her flatmates were in. Luckily there was a lounge to ... lounge in. Hugo and Eleine enjoyed their purchases while I immersed myself in this diary of an Indian girl, written back when they were forced to adapt to the "white men's" ways.
Intriguing little book.
Our lovely host Megan returned gloriously and whisked us off to British Museum. That building in itself is so architectually wonderful, le sigh. There was a Greek and Egypt exhibition going on, both very interesting. (They also inspired my imagination to some really lame puns/jokes that I unloaded on poor Megan, hehe.) Badness got some badass pictures in there, so look forward to see those *nod*
The giftshop got our attention and some of our money but it was Starbucks that got our souls! I am totally sold on their hot chocolate ;__; Took every chance to gulp one of those down, I tell ye. Very tasty addiction. Some of Megan's buddies were also hanging out in Starbucks and we got to "meet and greet" them :p
But, alas, the time came to return to our room to rest up for the upcoming Friday excursions. Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked (which threw us for a bit) so Hugo had to stay at another hotel, further down the street. Eleine stayed in our room while I accompanied Hugo for his dinner and then we hung out a bit in his room. I'd brought Nintendogs with me and played for a bit so he could see what it was like and compare it a little to what it's like to have a real dog.
Now, his beds (yes, plural!) were sooooooooo comfortable compared to mine and it was nigh impossible to tear myself away from it. I nearly fell asleep and would've been quite happy to do so. Ultimately he had to almost kick me out, lol. Such a bummer to return to my bed after that *shakes head and sighs*
This post is getting a bit long so I'll stop here and tell you about the Canterbury/ Dover trip tomorrow =) Or maybe force someone else to *bums about in bed* >>
Badness, you're a totally spicy sweetheart. Thanks for giving me a great time. Rock on! |
