Windows and doors
I was watching Hook last night and what Peter (Robin Williams) said about the windows really made me jump to attention. In the beginning of the movie he says to his son: "What did I tell you about the windows ? Always keep them shut !".
In other words, he is shutting out life and opportunities. But also the world inside of him (memories specifically). By closing the 'windows', he distanced himself to what they gave to him when they were open (the kids/wife, etc).
When I thought about it some more, I remembered the scene in Matrix Reloaded, where the Keymaker talks about all the doors (my favourite scene in the whole movie, possibly). How there were many doors, … Bah, I can't remember the exact quote. I'll look it up *nods* Or maybe someone else can fill in the blank ? ~_^
My point is: doors and windows are alike. Though windows give you the ability to look through them before doing anything. Unlike doors, which you usually look at, before stepping through or closing. Some doors/windows need to be closed, as a sign of moving on (even if they brought something wonderful into your life, when they were first opened).
And at the same token, if you look too hard on any of the two … you might miss out on something even greater.
At the end of Hook, Peter has changed quite dramatically. He's no longer afraid, nor does he run from what he fears. He keeps the windows open…
Eck, I could've said that better. It didn't come out as I planned … but there you have it. I think you all got what I was trying to say ^__^
Another silly post, from an equally silly person ;)
