21:08 PM ~ Sweden Time
The past couple of days have been a sneaky road to pain. Much pain. Unneccessary pain.
On Sunday (last week) I drank my last Nourishment Supplement drink and grumbled over my intuition being right once more about how the call to the local Dietician would go. She wanted 'documented medical proof' that I actually needed it, because telling her that my last Dietician would gladly affirm the significant need of it in my everyday diet wasn't enough. Her voice was thick with annoyed/contempt disbelief when I mentioned that my intake of nutriants was low partly due to the 'no fruits or veg for me' deal. It didn't matter that it hasn't been in my diet EVER.
That was the worst part of the conversation, because I hate it when that subject comes up, though how it ended kinda shocked me. Up until then she'd spoken with a very low, drawling tone, but when she said 'goodbye' she perked up like a freak on speed O.o It just felt like she shouted "Thank God, I think I got rid of that one!" in my face.
At that moment it all felt like a huge waste to procure something I need to live normally considering the fact that there was no way I'd be going through the whole process of getting her the 'proof' she demanded. I loathe having to deal with the health care system. It's responsible for seriously deteriorating my health in the first place and it also made it worse by not being able to help me out after doing so. Slaps to the face and punches to the stomach is all they've given me.
The last Dietician was an exception to that rule. All she needed to hear was that it made me feel better. It was easy to feel ok when I had her. A simple phone call saying my prescription was ending was all it took, back in the day. She'd whip up another one and I kept on feeling ok. That's why there are no 'medically documented journals with rigorous blood tests' pertaining why I drink it.
So like I said, this past week I've been thrown back to a trip down memory lane of how everything was like before the days of "Nourishment Supplement drinks".
It all started when I was about 11-12. Every Saturday my dad'd play Indoor Bandy with a group of acquaintances and I'd tag along. Nothing would stop me from going. (Well, maybe a deathly flu would.) During the time this tradition went on I began to experience problems with my joints and muscles, feeling achey even when I'd not done anything streneous. Then came the big blow. One Saturday it hurt badly enough that I had to cancel Indoor Bandy.
It totally gutted me because I wanted to go but knew it just wouldn't work. Moving around, even the slightest, was really painful. Sitting perfectly still didn't make it better, either.
After that I began missing more Saturdays. More days were filled with pain. At my worst I had to walk with crutches because it hurt so bad I couldn't move my legs around. Funny how time can make those memories fade away. Now my body is back to where it was then.
It hurts all day. It gets worse every day.
So I'm eternally thankful to my mom for always being there for me! All those years ago she spoke to her mom about my sad situation and got the tip to try out the Nourishment Supplement drink. Grandma had spoken to a lady whose boy had had severe pneumonia and didn't respond to medications but got 100% better once he started drinking the stuff. We tried it out and sure enough, I got all better.
This past Tuesday mom came to the rescue again when she called my old Dietician and explained the situation. My new prescription came in the mail yesterday so now I'll just have to hang on until the end of next week when my pharmacy will have it in stock.
(It used to be that you could go to the pharmacy, ask them to order it in and get it 2 days later. Now you need to fill out an order, send it to a central medical office somewhere and they'll ship it to the pharmacy where you live, therefore making it take 4-5 business days. We sent in the order the moment we got the prescription so hopefully it'll get here by the end of next week. Hopefully.)
