Wallpaper. Some can be really horrific to look at, let alone plaster on a wall. Then there are those precious gems that you can't get enough of. I found the latter when tagging along with mom and dad to a store where they've got all these things you need to work on your house (paint, wallpaper, tiles, etc). In the very first batch of wallies I looked at my eye was immediately drawn to a particular one and there wasn't a single wally that could compare to it *dreamy sigh*

It came in 3 or 4 shades, of which I ultimately settled on light-dark. Teh Yum! Maybe there's a sample online that you could see *makes note to check*

But anyway! There were other things I meant to post about yesterday when time flew by so quickly that it ran out >.>

Soup!

I hadn't planned on making any dinner yesterday because there were leftovers in the fridge. Then Inspiration suddenly struck when I decided to buy some buns to share with Eleine (who was coming over to borrow the car). "You will make a vegetable soup" it said to me. We had some ingredients but to make sure it didn't end up looking like a pathetic excuse for a ... soup, some more stuff was bought.

Mom came home in the middle of preparing the veggies but the only help I allowed her to give me was to see if the greens from the fridge would be alright to cook up. Which they were, huzzah! Some chopping, quick frying in zeh pan, water and seasoning later: Vegetable Soup ala Mimminx :3

Turns out it was a bit spicy for mom but the big shocker was hearing dad's response when I told him so "really? I thought it was fine"! He's notorious for not going overboard with the seasoning and reacting to strong flavours XD

So what did I put in it? Let's make a list =D

* 4 carrots
* ½ an onion
* ½ a red onion
* 3/4 of a leek
* a couple of [uncooked] potatoes
* 1 fist-sized Swedish turnip (XD)
* ½ a white cabbage
* 1 red pepper

All the veggies got sliced into dice-sized(ish) bits, except for the onion, then it was fried up in a big pot for a couple of minutes. During the fry-up I seasoned it with roughly 2 table spoons of salt and about .... 1-1½ tablespoons of chili pepper *grins* Oh, and 2 stock cubes.

Once everything had softened a bit I tossed in the potatoes and covered it with water, let it come to a boil and then it simmered away for 20-25 minutes.

It was quite fun! Having mom and dad both liking the soup also had its charm :p

Literati!

I love, love, love playing Literati. Words and the use of them, their meaning, etc etc etc, has me hooked. Though oddly enough I suck a little in the game where you take one (preferably long) word and make new words from it during whatever time you set (1 minute?). Anyway. Being shown Literati was a blessing to me and most likely a curse to those I've hounded since my first game XD

In the beginning I sucked royally and regularly had my ass handed to me. Stubborness, along with plenty of game time, helped me turn things around eventually. Not that it was ever my intention to be the Literati Godess - which I couldn't anyway, since it's being held by Sara! - my only goal was to get better, learn more words. Winning is an added bonus.

Some of my favourite games have been when someone has beaten me, be it by a huge marginal or just a couple of points. It makes me happy to see them win and (unless I've had rotten letters) it's an indication of a thrilling game with lots of twists and turns. With a bundle of laughter in between ^_^

Unfortunately I seem to win more than I lose. That's not something to be complained about, me knows, but I just hate seeing friends feel it's pointless to even try to win or (in a worst case scenario) play at all. Sometime last year, for a limited few games, I even purposely lost to avoid making my opponent[s] feel dejected. After figuring it'd help them more if I challenged them to try harder to defeat me and thereby be able to bask in their glorious victory over the Queen of Cheap, I stopped giving away wins.

Considering how Literati is never more than a fun game to play for me, where winning or losing doesn't matter as long as everyone is enjoying themselves, it stings somewhat when I get asked if I let someone win or people suggest it's impossible to win against Mimmi. Literati gives me a positive feeling and to know I in turn give others negative feelings with it, well, le blah.

So remember that I can be beaten and have been beaten, countless times. When someone has won over me they've done so because we both put up a good fight, only they worked harder/better to come out on top.

I just gotta link you to the funniest cat EVER (the second clip is the best one and we die laughing every time we look at it!!!!) and to the cutest baby-giggle you've ever heard. The kid just wants to laugh _^_

Uhm, sorry for not responding to comments =( I'm too tired (have a headache) to write about Life, as well, right now. Which means you'll have an actual post to look forward to =D

I love all my darlings out there :3
