Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin!
Which translates to "Bunny". I want one to cuddle with. Digressing. Back on track.... Now!
I cooked 3 different dinners today. Cottage cheese Pie, Potatoes au gratin (<-- s'what the dictionary calls it) and Vegetable soup. The first two took most of my morning/early afternoon to cook. Once they were done and I'd eaten dinner m'self,
I took somewhat of a nap and got back into the kitchen around 6.30PM to chop up the veggies for ze soup.
My eyes are still a bit sensitive from all the onion, leeks and garlic that oozed with its potency the second a knife cut through them.
The intention was, initally, to only do the pie and soup -because we had a lot of vegetables that would go to waste otherwise- but I'd done a potatoe gratin the day before yesterday that mom wanted more of. Unfortunately the sisters had gotten the left overs so being the good kid I am I added it to the 'dinner list'. Hence why it all added up to 3 dinners in one day.
Mebbe it sounds like I'm complaining here, which isn't the case. Cooking is fun.
I enjoy all the aspects involved in creating a meal, from preparing what ingredients you need and seeing someone munch happily on the finished product. Luckily my family does that, lol.
I'm just a bit tired, is all. For the past week I've felt empty (like my body is a very thick shell with no flesh inside it) and it wasn't until yesterday it struck me what the reason was. The only social interaction I've had has been nursing mom through her colds and now that she's slowly getting over them she's still incredibly worn out. Dad's been busy with everything going on regarding the house. Eldest sister is crazy-busy, the younger one isn't so much but can't/won't always drag her ass over here and I guess even she has stuff do do that fills her days.
No one has had either time or energy to pay attention to me.
Taken that into consideration it will probably be oddly amusing to hear I volunteered to come over to my sisters and cook for them. The eldest sister nearly wept when I proposed it to her and called it a luxury, poor soul. Next week especially she willl have absolutely no time over for household chores due to a painfully packed schedule. Knowing how seldom my younger sister pitches in I thought the following:
"My days are glaringly empty, cooking is fun, and maybe I'll actually get to see one of my sisters some more."
It wouldn't be an every-day thing. I'm thinking I'll go over twice during the week and prepare 2 different meals each time. They'll make sure there's ingredients to cook with as well as tell me what to cook.
The intention to write this here wasn't to brag, though it most likely comes off as that. This is just who I am. As far as friends and family are concerned I'll stretch my generosity to infinity because it's in my nature. Hah, you could call it my 'talent' in a way. Instead of brightening their days with song or art I alleviate some of their burdens by helping out as much as possible. (Well, that and using my sillyness as comic relief.)
What's the use of a big heart if you don't use it? .... Aside from heart transplant.
