ElvesAteMyRamen is going to kill me, but I had a dream that Shigure from Fruits Basket died. I don't remember exactly HOW, but I think Yuki had something to do with it.. *braces for impact*

Anywho, back to the subject matter on my mind.

I'm teaching myself Japanese (at least until I hit college in a little over a year).

Yes, you heard, err, READ right. I'm teaching myself Japanese. I have a workbook to learn some basic words and phrases and I'm teaching myself some letters too. If you didn't know, there are 3 different character sets (alphabets if you will) in Japanese, Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. I'm learning Hiragana at the moment. I know 5 letters and I'm proud! (a, ka, sa, ta, and na are the ones I know and I'm learning ha, and ma today.) Ok, how am I learning these letters? I'm going to learn one or two a day until I know all the characters in Hiragana. THEN I'm going to learn Katakana, and maybe then I'll learn kanji. My sources tell me you can get by with Hiragana and Katakana, so I'm learning those.

To review:
    I'm learning Japanese.
  • There are three sets of letters, Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.
  • I'm learning Hiragana.(I know 5 letters now.)
  • I've learned a few words and phrases out of a workbook that I have.
  • I've written words and phrases on the back of my left hand and the letters that I know on the palm, so I can glance at them every now and then.

If anyone has some tips on learning Japanese, let me know, ok?
