My new favorite phrase: "Artistically Frustrated"

Gah, I'm having problems with that wallpaper I just submitted a couple days ago. I'm trying to get it to be good enough quality for AnimePaper.net, but since they're standards are pretty much higher than what I can do with the programs I have, it's frustrating. See, I posted a thread in their forums for comments on whether they thought the wallpaper was high enough quality, because I was satisfied with it. I got the theme I had wanted ("Light of the Church"), but apparently there's still a lot for me to fix. *sigh* I really like the wallpaper I made, but I doubt I'll be able to submit it to AP anytime soon. Gosh, I wish I had Corel Paintshop Pro right now... T_T I've been trying to fix the paper without taking away from the theme, but no bananas. Oh well, I might just have to sit and wait for awhile.

But, anyway! Moving on!
I guess some of you don't know, based off of my last post's responses, but I'm homeschooled. That's why I haven't started yet, my system is very weird. Mostly, it's up to my mom when I start, and that's usually at the very end of September. I have to pay for starting late by ending late though. I don't mind too much, the work isn't unbearable or anything. I quite enjoy it most of the time, actually. I can't wait to start learning more Latin again! v^.^

Hope you guys have had a good week so far. Make sure to get enough rest in! Ta!

More wallpapers, YAY!

Hey y'all! Anyone wishin' it was the weekend already?

I haven't quite started school yet (although I will really soon), so today I made another wallpaper. Not just a quickie one either, this took me several hours just to get the theme down. XP I was already online earlier trying to figure it out, and just a little bit ago finished it. (It should be up by now on theOtaku, if you want to see it.) It's another .hack//Roots one of Shino. I was able to get a really cool scan of her from AnimePaper.net. Just found out today that I could get credit (or "papers") simply by posting on their forum or posting comments on wallpapers; that's the only way to get scans on there, with "papers". I had thought they meant wallpapers, but apparently not. Good for me, too.

But yes, anyway. My parents are home now, and my dad is now working on demolishing our shower. It was so fun to lay in bed, listening to him pounding on the fiber glass. Darn father, forcing me out of bed at 10:30...
At least we'll finally get our bathroom fixed. Our house is slowly falling apart. By the time my parents sell the place years from now, it's gonna be a totally different house on the inside. XP

Nothing other than that to say. Hope you have a good week. Ta!

Yay for the system! It works!!

I'm very happy now, much better than I was last night. The "fanart" from my last post was taken care of. Thanks for helpin' out guys. ^_^ I might've gotten a little... too obsessed about it actually, but I'm just glad it finally got taken down. The main reason I was so frustrated was that it hadn't been deleted the first day. But also, there were at least 21 people that believed the plagiarist had actually made that himself (because they had voted for the picture), and seven people that commented on how great it was. I'm disappointed in my fellow Otakuites and Senior Otakus that commented... I thought that they would've known better. But oh well, tis over now. Thanks again! I shan't mention this issue for a LONG time. lol

And now, tis time to relax; maybe I shall go read some of my new manga. In all the... excitement... I forgot to mention that I got a bunch of new manga! The entire Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight series (long title XP) and new Naruto, Bleach, Chronicles of the Cursed Sword, and Fullmetal Alchemist. I got them Monday, and I haven't finished them all off yet. Still have three Lodoss manga left to read, which makes me very happy! Seeing as I'm a pretty big fan of Record of Lodoss War.
Plus, if I'm busy reading manga, I won't think of missing my parents. Right now they're on vacation; they're taking a cruise to celebrate their anniversary that was back in August. Also, they both needed it. It's only for a week, and they left last Sunday, so they'll be home in a few days. I haven't missed them a whole lot yet, but I think I will come Saturday. I'm going to try and clean the house a bit before they get back, as a nice surprise for my mom.

Oh, and to tomieharley, I didn't make that AMV, I had just suggested it. XP I hope to get another of my suggestions on Otaku Attraction someday, so that I may actually comment on the topic while it's still hot. That sounds a bit self-centered though, doesn't it? I just want a suggestion of mine chosen so I'll get attention? Sadly, that's pretty much it. T_T

Anyway, thanks for always supportin' me guys. *hugs* I love you all!

This charade has gone on long enough!

Alright, I'm angry. I'm pissed off. There's this punk that decided to post original game artwork of Tri-Edge from .hack//GU and say it's his. He didn't even try to trace it. And yet, people still think it's his!! I implore all that are reading this now to go and report this guy. He even deleted comments that referred to the fact that he had plagiarized.
Compare these two images. Here's the original; and here's the one that this guy posted as "fanart". They're the exact same image! Down to the finest details! This charade has gone on long enough; the "fanart" should've been pulled down the first day when I reported it. Please report it. If it's not pulled down by tomorrow afternoon, I'm going straight to a moderator.

Okay, at least I think it's cool...

Alright, you guys know about the Otaku Attraction, right? Every week, Lady Katana picks someone's AMV suggestion and then she'll post it for everyone to see. Apparently, she posted a suggestion of mine, but I didn't find it until now. Click here to see.
So yeah... I thought it was pretty cool, anyway...

Alright, here's a question for those wallpaper makers out there (or even just you artists out there). Have you ever tried to make a wallpaper with a set image in mind of what you'd like it to be, went to look for a good background, and could never find anything satisfying enough? It's so rare, isn't it? At least, if you make wallpapers the same way I do, you gotta go find backgrounds. Anyway, that's partly why I stopped making lots of wallpapers, because background-hunting wasn't fun, and it was very time-consuming. BUT! Lately, I've been having a very good time with making wallpapers, just letting the good backgrounds find me. Today, I was able to make another wallpaper which I'm almost completely satisfied with. (I just wish the overall quality of the character image had been better, but oh well.) I was finally able to make a paper of Shino from .hack//Roots, my favorite character. I had tried to make one before (as some of you know), but it didn't work out. But this one DID! It makes me want to ramble on and on about this somewhat boring subject.
But yes, anyway... if you wish to see the wallpaper, just click on the Portfolio link up there on the left.

So, who likes FFVII? Hmmm? Today, I wanted to watch the Advent Children movie, but first I decided to watch the "Reminiscince of Final Fantasy VII" beforehand. I must say, the music in Final Fantasy is very touching. Watching that 20-minute extra, I no longer wanted to watch the movie, I wanted to play FFVII. The music is so touching. The combination of the actual story and the music... gosh! Makes you tear up.
This week just seems to be music appreciation week for me and my sister Robin. We end up talking more and more about music like that, the stuff that really touches you. One such song that I've been listening to lately is "Hakuo Byouto" from .hack//Roots (by ALI PROJECT). The singer sounds like she's about to cry during the song, and the instrumental parts, with the violin and the organ, are so beautiful... *sniff*
But, again; going on about a probably not very interesting subject for most of you. I'll just force myself to stop now.

I hope you've been well, my monkies. Ta!

I'm BACK!

Finally! The State Fair is over! My soul has been returned! What a blessing! Not only that, but I got payed the first half of my paycheck today. v^.^
I'm obviously very happy that my job is over with. I'm going to enjoy the time I have as a teenager who doesn't need a full-time job, and can actually do whatever they want.

The one good thing that happened during the fair was my iaido class (yes, iaido, not yaido, like I was spelling it before XP). We couldn't actually use the original place that we meant to, because the stupid owners didn't leave a key or have someone stay late for us. We had sneak in to the local All Star Fitness place. Tis a good thing we weren't caught, 'cause people there had real swords and everything, something the manager of All Star certainly wouldn't have liked.
It was very cool seeing the older students demonstrating different techniques for us. It was also cool to see them come in wearing their hakamas and tops. Some of them had iaitos (dull blades), while others had live blades (don't remember the Japanese name for it). Iaido goes back to the Feudal Era, 600 years ago; a whole sword style developed from the seiza (a sitting position thought to be very polite, since samurai couldn't strike while in this position). I've ordered my hakama, obi, and top from Sensei. With my Fair money, I can also get my iaito pretty soon. I might tell you guys more about iaido in future posts, but right now I'm pretty tired (just went to the mall).

Just a few days ago, I started watching this Korean drama on AZN called Full House. See, drama shows like that aren't usually enough to pull me in, because there's usually too much drama, but this show is also really funny! It's quite surprising to myself how much I like it. Maybe I'll try my hand at summarizing the show if enough people are interested.

But yes, anyway... I'll go around and check some sites either later tonight or tomorrow. And about that wallpaper from my last post, I've decided not to submit it to theOtaku, but if anyone wants to use it, feel free to.
I hope you guys have been doin' well these past two weeks. Ta!

Need Advice

'Allo there! Tis been a week since I last updated. Not too bad, eh? I'll be getting around to some sites after I post this, but first I need some advice on what to do with this wallpaper. I'm not sure what exactly to do with it now, but I feel there's definitely something missing. I might go and look for a background to go with it after this. What kind of advice do you guys have for me? Keep in mind, I don't have programs like Photoshop.
Hmmm, maybe I should start over and move around some of those phrases...

Eh, but otherwise I've enjoyed myself listening to the .hack//Roots soundtrack. I hope you guys had a good weekend.

Manga and ancient swordplay! Oh my!

Hello again, my friends! Heh, I think I'm getting a bit better at updating my site. Just have to get back into checking other peoples' sites. >.<

Anyway, as most of you have probably already heard, the articles and review sections will be closed to any further submissions pretty soon. Or maybe they are right now. Either way, how do you really feel about it? I commented on this on the main page of theOtaku; basically, as long as we can still read the articles and reviews that have been submitted, I can deal with it. Of course, I wanted to submit a review awhile ago, but theO wasn't letting me. And now I have no real hope right now of ever submitting it, but oh well. If I really want to submit the review, I can do that somewhere else if I have to. But yes, please comment on how you feel about this news.

At least there is good news for me; my Record of Lodoss manga came last Thursday. And I'm very happy with the story. They even included a map of the whole Lodoss island in a couple of the volumes, which is really neat for the fans. Heh, I was even bored enough today to chart where all these different people went in these stories. It helps a lot to know where all the cities and countries are. XP
Also, in a bit more exciting news, I'll be taking yaido pretty soon. The class starts September 1st; that might be a bit hard on me, since I'll still be working at the fair during that time, but yaido's not supposed to be too physically demanding. I have to go buy a couple of things before the fair starts though, for yaido; a boken, which I have to get in the international district in Seattle, and some strong knee-pads. Then, I'll have to get Sensei to buy the other stuff; hakama and top, obi, and eventually, after I get enough money for it, a steel blade. It's going to cost a lot of money, but luckily I'll have my fair money to pay for that stuff. Unfortunately, I had already made plans for that money, and now I have to remake them. Well, it'll be worth it. Yaido is supposed to be something like the cream of the crop in Japan. It's very exciting for me right now. v^.^

Before I end my post, kingN, you should definitely try to see .hack//Roots as soon as possible. It'll be on TV near the end of this year apparently, and then it'll be released on DVD in 2007. And the music is very good, buying the soundtrack would be very worth it.

I hope your weekend was a nice one. Ta!

Sore wa...

Hello, anime people of myOtaku! How are ya today? Did you spend a bunch of your money over the weekend?
Last Sunday, I made quite the purchase. Did I ever mention that I told myself that I wouldn't start another manga series until I had finished another? Well, turns out I don't listen to myself. I was browsing animecornerstore.com, and I saw that the Record of Lodoss War manga (the ones with Parn and Deedlit) were out of print, and only limited to stock on hand. When I saw this, it was late Saturday night. So, I was in a tizzy about it and that made it hard for me to sleep. In the end, I bought all of the ones available on the site; six manga volumes, $78. Stupid CPM charging us extra...
And also, thanks to doing that, I'm in a Record of Lodoss War high. It shouldn't last too long, but still; it has caused me to start re-watching the TV series; and, watching the TV series has made me want the soundtracks. Not only that! But I desperately felt like making a Lodoss wallpaper. And I did. Just submitted it a few minutes ago. Hopefully it will be well-received by the Lodoss fans of theOtaku... one can only hope.

So, other than that, I found out today that the .hack//Roots soundtrack I ordered a couple weeks ago finally shipped from AnimeNation. Hee, maybe it'll even come within the week? Monkey would be very happy if that happened. It would really make my week; ordering new manga, getting new soundtrack, cleaning up my room and things within it. Ahhh, twould be very sweet indeed...

Ta for now, my monkies!
God Bless
