Vacation Post FTW! =O
Finally, I shall brave the vacation post. I've got Dive in the Sky playing, so the motivation is there! Here we go!
Vacation Story, Part 1 of 3
June 29th - D-Day (Departing Day :P)
The morning was very busy. We had gotten the RV the other night and had already packed up a few things, but there was still some stuff to go over. It was bad. lol We were running all over the house, and the whole time our dog, Nick, was just sitting in the RV, like he refused to be left behind. It was cute. ^_^
So then, finally! Everything's all packed up and we're off! One of the things I didn't realize is just how noisy the darnded thing would be once we got rolling. All the stuff was clanking in the cupboards, jokes ensued about watching out for knives and shotguns, then Nick's bone bag slid across the floor in the back. It was hilarious.
So, after a bit, we stopped at a Lane Bryant outlet, since I had literally no shorts of any sort. So while the women shopped, the boys went to go get some Li'l Caesar's pizza. Success! We purchased the short pants (cause short shorts are not for me :P) and the sandals, or thongs as my mother was calling them. See, nowadays, you can't really call 'em thongs anymore, cause I actually thought she wanted us to get THONG thongs. My brain had a major fart. So yeah, after that, I made her call them sandals instead. XP
Then we're off again! We arrived at our first campsite, the only Western Washington campground we'd be staying at too. The campsite was very pretty, we took several pictures of just that one place. I'll post some of them sometime soon, it's pretty nice. Unfortunately, it started raining. Even in an RV, it's no fun when it rains. We still had to cook part of dinner on our old camp stove, because the one in the RV sucks.
At least Nick was having fun. He was tugging on his leash, running around and everything.
Another problem that arose was the sleeping situation. Not so much in who would sleep where, that was already figured out. Robin (my older sister) and I were going to sleep up top in the loft; very cramped space, but you eventually get used to it. Then our older brothers Kyle and Eric would sleep on separate pull out beds below us, and of course Mother and Father got the nice bed in the back.
So yeah, that was all worked out already. What had to be refigured was how Robin and I were positioned. At first, we were going to have our heads sleeping on the same side, but we discovered that was way too hot. I suggested she sleep at one end and I at another, and problem solved. The only annoyance is the feet in the face, but it wasn't too bad. :P
And so, the First Day ends...
June 30th - Part 1 of 2
Because it rained the other night, the ground was all mushy. Yeah, not very fun. And guess what we decided to all do? Go hiking. See, that's not my thing. I don't have hiking shoes, and the ones I have aren't exactly the best quality for that activity. The nature part of it was nice, but the physical part wasn't. Blah, I know, I need to exercise more.
But man, we saw some strange things. Some huge mushrooms growing on the side of all these trees, some banana slugs, and then this huge boulder that had this split down the middle. Again, I have some pics of that I'll post sometime later.
Since we couldn't just leave Nick inside the RV for two hours, we brought him with. But man, that dog. He always pulls on his leash so much, it's hard to even walk him at home. Now put him in a situation like that, and it's even worse.
I thought I did pretty good, considering. I didn't complain until I really got tired toward the end, which is when we went back.
Basically, as soon as we got back, we had to pack up and head out. If we stayed past noon, we'd have to pay for another day. So yeah, off towards the Cascades and Eastern Washington!
To be continued...
