Rain!
We had our first non-tornado-ish rainstorm today! It wasn't horribly windy and scary like all the other storms have been so far. It was nice, it was warm, and it was very light. I just sat out under the roof thingy and read my book.

Speaking of books, I checked out Shogun's Ghost: the Dark Side of Japanese Education from our library (I'm surprised our library even had it!) and the stuff in there is insane! Even though it's illegal some teachers there use corporal punishment, they do everything from give a kid a slap on the head to beat them with a baseball bat or pipe and students are usually too scared to say anything about it. One principal caught a boy that had run away from school, tied his hand and feet, gagged him with socks, got a group of 13 boys to beat him with a bat for 9 hours and then locked him in a 2nd story room so he couldn't escape again. The kid died from shock soon after and the principal only had to serve three and a half years for it. Of course, this book is like 20 years old, maybe things have changed. I hope so.
