"I guess you didn't realize it..." He chuckled. It wasn't pleasant like most chuckles should be. It was throaty and deep like it took a long time to emerge from his stomach. I don't think I like his chuckle...which is a first because chuckling usually makes me quite proud of myself. I don't feel proud at the moment. Only dirty, like I committed a sin. He shouldn't chuckle, he isn't the type.
"No, sir." I answer immediately. Knowing full well the consequences of hesitation. I guess it wasn't fast enough because I feel the blow anyways. I haven't been fast enough in weeks.
