SA ch. 5 - Inuyasha's Decision
Souta's Adventure ch. 5: Inuyasha's Decision
"Miroku!" Shippou yelled when he saw the monk about to go back inside Kaede's hut. He paused, listening. "Miroku!" Shippou cried again, running forward. "Miroku, where's Inuyasha?"
Miroku, his hand on the side of the hut, looked down at Shippou. "Inuyasha wishes to be left alone, Shippou."
"I really need to talk to him," said Souta, stepping forward. "Can you tell me where he is, please?"
Miroku looked at the boy, frowning. "Who are you?"
"My name is Souta," he said. "I'm Kagome's younger brother."
"Kagome never mentioned she had a brother," said miroku, looking at Souta as they sat in kaede's hut. "Of course, I suppose there wasn't much time."
"Well, she told me alot about you guys. I loved hearing about your adventures." He smiled. "Especially Inuyasha."
"Why are you so attached to Inuyasha?" asked Sango. "After all he's done to Kagome?"
"He's my hero," said Souta. "He saved me and Kagome from the Flesh-Eating Mask in our time. I know he can be really stubborn, but it's obvious he loves Kagome."
When Souta looked back at them, they were looking past him. Slowly, he leaned his head back until he was staring into the golden eyes of his hero. "Inuyasha," he whispered.
Inuyasha turned and began walking outside, motioning for Souta to follow. He obeyed.
As they walked through the forest, Inuyasha had remained silent. But when they reached a clearing, and the Bone-Eater's Well was in sight, the half-demon finally spoke.
"What are you doing here, kid?" he asked harshly, but there was something in his voice that Souta caught - heartache.
"I came to see you,' said Souta, looking into his face.
"Why?" asked Inuyasha, turning away from him.
"I'm worried about Kagome," said Souta.
"Why come here and bug me, then?" Inuyasha growled. "Kagome's back in her own time, safe."
"Safe from demons, maybe," said Souta. "But not safe. She'll never be safe in her time."
"Yeah, and why's that?" asked Inuyasha, pretending not to care.
"Because you're not there," said Souta, quietly.
Silence covered the forest. Inuyasha's back to Souta, he lifted his head and, with lonely eyes, stared at the well. "I don't know what to do," he whispered.
"Come back to my time with me, Inuyasha," said Souta. "Please...I can't stand to see Kagome like this."
Inuyasha looked at Souta. After a moment, he nodded. "I'll go."
