monochrome
the car drives along the road
rims sparkle, the tires flame from speed,
air flies past, stagnant of decay
this is the hearse, it is sure
i am driven by my fuel
full of lead, which weights me down
and my fuel does not cost $1.89
and my fuel is free
and it doesn't pollute the air
i am the wheelman
put out your thumb
you universal hitchiker
i'll pull over
i'll let you step inside
"this is my baby," i'll say
"she grows and grows and eats
up time. her name's monochrome."
and this is my life
and this is my vehicle
and i'll make it to the edge
somehow
and fall into the sky
and touch the stars
