Ghost Stories

As the title implies i'm going to be telling you guys some ghost stories today, but first let me get the general how I'm doing stuff out. I'm doing pretty well actually, I'm rereading Good Omens one of the best books ever, I'm going out to eat tonight with my preview group, and i have the best fuzzy body pillow ever to sleep with(courtesy of ceekari who made it, it's purple n_n). Other than that I'm making up my History test on Weds. class average was a 56. Not good but I'm studing so hopefully it will be okay. Other than that nothing new on with the ghost stories.

So it you look up Hunted buildings in East Tennesse then you will most definitly come up with ETSU. Where I'm currently enrolled in college. I have known about these ghost for some time now having had read some of the stories and have had some already happened to me. But the another night my roomate came running in our room(she doesn't sleep here as much as i do) Screaming about how the bathroom is hunted. I gave her the yeah it is has been for about 60 years now where have you been look. Then she proceeded to spend the next three hours looking up the reports, here's some of the better ones.

Students repeat legends of ghosts haunting the freshman dorm, Lucille Clement.

It’s the ‘things’ that go bump in the night’ that scare people in the buildings of ETSU.
There are unexplainable footsteps that can be heard when no one else is around. Is it the building creaking and settling with the setting of the sun and the cooling night air?
Or is it the apparitions of the troubled spirits who have never made it to the other side — those that have been cursed to roam this Earth after they have left the mortal realm.
For those of you who go searching for those apparitions instead of tricking or treating, then the campus is a great place for you to investigate.
Several haunted buildings on campus have stories that could make one’s hair stand on end.
For example, in Lucille Clement Hall, the women’s dormitory on the west end of campus, it is rumored that voices speak, marbles bounce and doors are knocked on even though no one’s on the other side.
“There was one Saturday night at about 5 in the morning when I was taking a shower that I heard breathing outside the shower,” says sophomore Stephanie Lively. “I looked out of the shower and there was no one there. I turned back to wash my hair and then I heard it again. I still couldn’t see anyone.
“Then when I finished I discovered that my clothes were lying in the hallway outside the showers. They weren’t on the line hung up like I left them … it was a horrifying experience.”
There are other stories about Lucille Clement that boggle the mind. The sound of marbles hitting the ceiling or floor cannot be discredited.
“It’s scary when you wake up in the middle of the night and you hear knocking and bouncing of marbles, especially when you know that there is no one that it there above you,” one student says.
Legend has many explanations for the bouncing marbles. One story says that when the building was being built and before the foundation was laid, a child was trapped on the site. He began throwing marbles at things to make noise, but to no avail. Apparently he was never found and is suspected to be buried under the cement that would later serve as the foundation and basement of the building.
A similar tale about the same child has been told. He was playing on a beam of the building and dropped one of his marbles. He went after it and fell to his death.
Still, legend reaches farther back in history to the time when the building was used as a nursing center, when ETSU was first founded. After Lucille Clement had been built, it housed a baby ward. One night, a child being carried by one of the nurses andwas accidentally dropped. The child died. When the child fell, so did the marbles with which he was playing.
Sure, all these stories could be explained by the building settling in the night.
Gilbreath Hall has a story that will make you ponder the actions of the other world. Custodians and students who work in the computer labs have supposedly seen a haunting apparition that is believed to be Sidney Gilbreath, ETSU’s first president. Then, the school was known as East Tennessee State Normal School.
Charles Edwin Price wrote in his book Haints, Witches, and Boogers: Tales from Upper East Tennessee, which is available in the ETSU Bookstore, that Gilbreath, who was known as “Uncle Sid” chose the site for the building by walking to the edge of a rolling field and jamming a wooden stake into the ground.
This would have been as you were leaving Burgin E. Dossett Hall and walking up the hill to Gilbreath Hall.
Maintenance workers claimed that Uncle Sid roamed the halls acting very much like a “fussy custodian.”
“When the lights go out and as the janitors are leaving for the night, the slamming of windows and doors left open by mistake vibrates throughout the building,” Price writes. “An approaching thunderstorm also prompts the closing of windows by an unseen hand. Apparently, the long-departed Gilbreath takes an active interest in the welfare of his building.”
Another legend described by Price tells of a time when the graduate dean was in the building late one night and had heard noises over head. The dean dismissed the whole incident and wanted to return to his office, but an unknown force was calling him back. He couldn’t forget the feeling.
He cornered the custodian the next day and asked if there was an attic in the building. There was no recalling of any attic, but they both searched the building to find one anyway. When they did, the dean “felt a powerful compulsion to look in one particular corner.”
There he discovered two framed pictures. One of Abraham Lincoln and the other a big engraving of Chief Mushuladubbe.
As the dean picked up the photo of Abraham Lincoln, "something brushed against his shoulder, and a voice whispered in his ear, ‘Thank you, from Uncle Sid.’”
Moreover, these accounts are not just located in those two buildings. Practically all of the buildings have stories.
The custodians in Mathes Hall have learned to look over their shoulders when they are cleaning at night.
Mathes Hall has been known for its loud unexplainable crashings and footsteps that seem to follow people throughout the building.
Price writes of one custodian who chanted, “I ain’t afraid of no boogers!” But later her bravery was tested. The building shook with a tremendous crash overhead. She went to investigate and everything was fine.
Again she heard the crash, and again the building shook with the impact. She said that it sounded like part of the building was caving in.
This time she was scared and immediately called a friend of hers to talk to her until it was time to leave.
These, again, are only some of the many ghostly tales that are passed around campus. Some may write them off to the buildings being old, but these stories are loaded with moans, groans and screeches that could put goose bumps on the arms of the bravest soul.
Not all ghost stories on campus have legends of tormenting hauntings, but legends of love and lost love.
The ghost of Burleson Hall is said to be that of Christine Burleson who participated in a variety of activities at the school for many years. According to Price's research, some described Christine’s features as being striking.
She was universally loved across campus, yet she was very reserved with her colleagues. She seemed to think that some of the younger faculty were after some of the classes she taught. It was said that she “owned” the subject of Shakespeare.
Christine had a horrible debilitating disease that ran in her family. Late in her sixties when she contracted the disease and was confined to a wheelchair she decided to take her own life. She was determined to never be a burden to anyone.
There have been cases where it sounds like a woman’s moaning in an office in Burleson Hall. It is said to be her moaning, according to Price’s book.
While no one has documented the story, there may be a ghost of a friendly young lady in West Hall. She doesn’t intend on spooking or scaring or scream or make things disappear, but she likes to communicate through music.
Angie Miller, a sophomore and resident of the building claims that the ghost was sending her messages.
“I haven’t heard from her in a while but it was strange what happened. It was the second day of classes and when I return to my room and I was standing outside my door, I could hear the radio blasting.
“This was about 12:30 in the afternoon. I walk into the room and the radio is playing “Country Grammar.” As soon as I get into my room, the radio turns off.”
Miller says that the ghost only plays her radio during the day. Never at night.
“About three days later, I return to my room and I could hear the radio playing again. But this time I thought it was my roommate, because she listened to Delilah. I didn’t think it was the ghost.”
“But then, when I stepped into the room, she changed the radio station to a Christian station. I heard a song on there that I really needed to hear because I was having a really bad day. Then, I returned one day to hear that Michael Jackson song from the 80s — ‘Somebody’sWatching Me.’ I think it was her way of saying something over me.”
Miller also says that her communicating friend likes 80s music. “I hope she comes back, she was cool and she had good taste in music.”
Well, that ends the stories about the ghosts and apparitions on campus. Beware of things that go bump in the night
Yoakley Hall. Which was originally a Women's dorm, now offices, is haunted by a female resident who committed suicide there. She jumped from a room on the top floor. Women who lived in the room after her death would see a figure sitting in the window. When they would get to the window the figure would jump, but nobody would be there. Residents started moving out after several occurrences. So many people moved out that ETSU decided that they would turn it into offices.
The ghost was said to be a very sad young woman, the daughter of wealthy businessman George Carter, who had donated the land on which ETSU was built. Alice, as the students call her, fell in love with a young man but her parents refused to let them marry and she committed suicide by ingesting a lethal dose of rat poison. Carter was grief-stricken over the loss of this daughter and he immortalized her image in a stained glass window that was installed in the family home. When Carter died in 1936, the college purchased the house and named it Cooper Hall. It was then opened as a dormitory for senior women. It was then that the haunting began. A female voice was heard singing in the halls and unearthly screams sometimes filled the night. Objects disappeared, turning up in other places. Some of the girls complained that they felt as if they were being watched. Most of these strange events took place in the vicinity of the stained glass window. Later, When the house was abandoned, the window was removed. It has since been lost. The stories of the haunting of Cooper Hall continued for years and even after the building was no longer used, the strange tales continued. A Johnson City historian named Ray Stahl was writing a story about the haunting and made an amazing discovery about the history of the house and the Carter family.... George Carter had no daughter! The only child of the Carter's had been James Walter Carter, although from photos of the time, he was a beautiful child with long, flowing hair like a girl's. Apparently, his parents had never gotten over the fact that he had been a boy. Stahl believes that Jimmy was the model for the stained glass window...but he cannot argue the fact that generations of students and maintenance workers have had contact with some sort of spirit in the building. After Cooper Hall was closed as a dormitory, the building became office space and a campus radio station. Several students and janitors encountered the ghost during this time period also. The building was finally torn down in 1984 and while university officials claimed that it was because the old building would cost too much to renovate.... many of the staff believed that knew the real reason the building was destroyed. According to them, they could find no one who was brave enough to inhabit the place with the ghosts.
The ghost of Burleson Hall seems to be connected to Christine Burleson, a popular professor who taught Shakespeare for decades. Late in life, she came down with a debilitating disease that ran in her family. She ended up in a wheelchair and in the early 1970's committed suicide. Her ghost has been blamed for a variety of phenomena in the building from a woman's moaning, to voices and other strange sounds. Many believe though that her ghost has inhabited a portrait of her father, David Sinclair Burleson. It has eyes that seem to follow you when you look at it and according to campus tradition, the eyes in the photo are not David Burleson's at all..... but Christine's!
One of the most famous ghosts resides in Gilbreath Hall, named for Sidney Gilbreath, the founding president of the University in 1911 and the resident specter of the building. Gilbreath's ghost apparently watches over the place, closing doors and windows left open by mistake and turning off unnecessary lights. He is belived to reside on the top floor of the building which is blocked off, the only way to access the top floor is through a janitors closet on the floor below.
These are just a few but I leave here for now, of course some this is most likly made up but I have heard strange things since I began living here. I live in lucille clement and here what sounds like marble almost every night. And one time my sink did turn on of it own accord. Others I have talked to have reported stange things as well and most of them didn't even know the place was supposedly haunted. I don't know but it's fun to think about none the less. See ya everyone. n_n

Okay nobody panic

I know i havn't posted in a while and that i left off on a bad note, Gomen. For those of you who posted on my last post and who prayed for my grandmother, I thank you. She passed on Thursday September 21st. I found out the next morning at about 8:20 am after pulling an all nighter on my english paper being the Procrastinator that I am. I drove home right away and then we headed to Florida for the funeral which was Monday. I think I'm going to be okay now though, I mean I cried way more than usual this week and it was a really stressful week, to many family members with to many emotions, but I'm back home now or really i'm at Ceekari's, so she's taking good care of me. I go back to school tomarrow I'm going to have to get alot of notes and make up some tests but I think I'll be okay. Since tomarrow is Thursday I'll have the weekend to look forward to. My grandmother would'nt want me to worry after all, she's one of the strongest people I know and nothing kept her down, so I know she would'nt want this to keep me down. So thanks again to all of you who kept my family in your thoughts and prayers, I really appreiacte it, and I'll do my best to start posting more reguraly so you guys don't just get the emo stuff. n_n

P.S. My english paper is on Anime and Manga I'll post it for you guys some time.

Just an update, for the guys, my family, as in everyone but me headed down to Flordia today to see my grandma. I really upset that they did'nt let me come, they didn't even tell me they were leaving until they were an hour down the road. They say thats schools to important for me to miss, and that they don't know how long they'll be down their. Which is a bad sign, they said they would fly me down their when things get serious but their already serious, by the sounds of it they don't think she'll make it threw the week, and planes are really unreliable if you ask me. So I'm really losing hope I'll see her again. So anyway I'll let you guys know when I know anything else.

Angsty

Sorry guys I know I don't post much but i'm going to have to make this one a bit depressive. So if your already having a bad day don't fell obligated to read.

Well as most of you know i'm in college now, and for the most part I like it pretty well. But the last couple of days I've been having problems with my roommate. As in she never cleans up after herself at all. A couple of days ago her thing of milk exploded in the fridge(note I do not drink milk I hate it) b/c she did'nt know you had to check the expiration date. Then I come back after a couple of really early classes I didn't sleep well the past two nights and she's sitting on her bed on the comp. and looks up and say's you know the milk exploded in the fridge and is now leaking under your bed. I'm like what the frick are you doing on the comp. then, it's your milk you should be cleaning it up. So anyway then she leaves for somthing I don't remember, and I've already have had problems with her not cleaning up after herself like when she cooks in the microwave, and once she spilt a yoohoo in front of my closet and did'nt clean it up for almost a week I mean I had to clean it up. I did not want to b/c I don't want her to think I'm going to be her maid I have enough trouble keeping myself organized without worrying about her messes. So anyway I leave to go to my next class and come back around 7:00 p.m. and she still hasn't cleaned so five minutes later her and her boyfriend come and find me on my hands and knees trying to clean it from underneth my bed and she has the nerve to get on myspace and tell her boyfriend to clean it which of course he refuses, meanwhile I'm getting pissed. I'm tired my room smells bad, and I've got an english essay due the next day. So I grab my bag and storm down to the computer lab to do my homework, come back two hours later, and she is still on the computer, and the first words out of her mouth are I still havn't done anything. I thinking there is no way I'm doing this so I sit down on my bed and start reading a book until she finally starts cleaning, I did help her, proably should'nt have but I did. So then her and her boyfriend leave and she doesn't take out her trash which she hasn't done since we moved in two weeks ago. Anyway the next day even tho we cleaned it still smells bad, so I decide it might be her trash and I take that out, (she still isn't back from her boyfriends, she only sleeps here about 40% of the time, she just comes in to make a mess in my opinion) and leave for my classes and when I get back I can barely breath when I open my door the smell is getting worse so I open up the window, and run to the fifth floor to borrow some serious frebreeze which helps for a little while but I can't seem to completly get rid or the smell. It's okay for her b/c she can run to her boyfriends apartment, I on the other hand have no were to go, this is where I live. So anyway that along with other things have put me in a bad mood for the past couple of days, things are not good at my home my parnets and sister are having some problems. And today I found out from my mom that my grandma's cancer is back, and well there's almost zero hope that she'll recover this time, their not giving her long at all. My dad (it's his mom) is flying out tommarrow to see her. I more than likly won't see her again before she goes. Luckily I got to see her this past summer, she got her wedding vowes renewed, 50 years. So for all of you who do pray, I would really apreciate it if you would keep her and my family in your prayers. I think I'll stop here I don't want to upset anyone (namely me).

Heres a gravition video Ceekari showed me, it's really funny, but don't watch it if your easily offended. I don't want to leave you depressed.

Well it's thursday, that good b/c I have Friday off. n_n Today started off okay then one of my mangers made me mad, then I had yet another DAR meeting(hopfully the last one for awhile), then I find out they want to Total my car and a bunch of other complicated stuff about the guy who hit who is a liar and gave the cop false info so my mom had to track the guy and yell at his wife. And get the this the guy told his wife that so stupid teenager was talking on her cell phone and wasn't paying attention. AS IF! So yeah I really don't know what's going to happen there but the cops are on my side at least. Other than that i think I'll just go visit everyone's site and then go play KH2. Oh and I have to pick out which comp. I want to buy to take to college with me.

The below video is of Xellos and I have already posted it once but I'm reposting it mostly for Sevy so she can see what he looks like and everything. In other no one really has to watch if they don't want to.

Ohayo everyone, how are you. I'm doing great, I stayed up to all hours of the morning playing KH and I finally beat it. Well I whooped up on Ansem and saw the ending anyway. There's still alot I havn't done or can't figure out how to do. For Example, I can't find the tenth postcard in Travese town, I can't beat Sephy(tho I hear you have to be a like level 100 to do that anyway) or the that thing in Neverland(tho I did beat the one in Agrabah), the Kupo's still havn't offered me the Ultimate keyblade thing, and I can't figure out how to get my Cura upgraded to Curaga. So yeah still things I want to do, if any of you guys know how to or have suggestion on how to do any of the things mentioned above they will be gratefully accepted. n_n So yeah today it's all about KH and I may start KH2. Unfortunatly I also have to be at work at 2 and i work until 9 so I proably won't get much done today and stay up until all hour tonight again. Well that's it for me today. See ya n_n

Hi everyone, hope your doing well. Today is my day off so i'm in a pretty good mood. Today I took my poor car to the repair shop and thank god it made it okay. I don't know how long it'll be there tho or wheather I'll ever see it again for that matter. It was really sad having to clean all my anime CDs and the kakashi air fresher that Flueky gave me out of it. After we took my car me and my sis went out to eat some mexican food, it was pretty good. Other than that I have to vaccum today and then I guess I'll just hang out on the comp. and maybe play some video games. My friends little sis or Ryuu-Kiba as she is known on here let me borrow her PS2 so I'm finally getting to play Kingdom Hearts. I borrowed both 1 and 2 as well as Shadow Hearts 1 so I'm in good shape as far as that goes. Well I guess that's it for today I'll try to talk to you guys later. n_n

Yes i do still exist

Okay long time no see people, it has been several months since i last posted and Alot has happened. I don't have much time to post either because I have to meet my dad but here's go nothing. Since i last posted i went to Prom(I have pictures somewhere), Graduated High school(Woot), Got a visit from one of the best otaku's ever all the way from Britian Darkeangel, Won an DvD player at Project Graduation(which I later sold for $30 because i already had one) where I rode a mechanical bull and did other crazy things, Got to spend several days with darke and my best friend ceekari up in the mountains in a cabin for a graduation gift, got us all lost on highways that don't exist, DDR for the first time, went to lake, Bought the box set of Last Exile and several volumes of Manga, and Just yesterday got in my first car accident on Cee's b-day. Any questions! yeah thought so, I have pics that I plan to put up for most of the things I have said and will explain all about them later in more detail with visual aids. As far as the car accident goes nobody was hurt and it wasn't my fault I was just stoped at a red light when some guy rear ended me hard enough to ensure that I am now transportationless. Sucks I know but at least no one was hurt. For a funnier recounting of this story please visit Ceekari's Site. And I just like to say it's great to be back. n_n
