Pensive, but the worst is over.

Fwah, sorry I haven't been around the last few days, but I've been studying like crazy for finals this week. I took two of them today--British Lit. and History--and have only one left tomorrow--Geometry. As far as scores go, I think I did just fine in British Lit, but I'm a bit worried about History. We had a million organizations to memorize, and I'm afraid I might have mixed a few up. I always get the PWA and the WPA screwed up. >_<" Let's hope I did alright, neh?

Uh, other than that, not a lot of interesting stuff besides a fic I'm reading right now. Before I go into the plot, first I will explain that I do not, on principal, read fics that feature original characters or children of already existing characters. My reason for having such a weird rule is that they almost always suck eggs. No offence to people who write in that style, but the OCs almost always Mary-Sue, and the children generally come off as reeeeeaaaaaally annoying. But just this once, I started reading a fic with children, though I didn't know it had kids when I started. At first I thought it was just gonna be a simple NarutoXGaara fic--and yes, I do like that pairing, though I'm not sure why--but it ended up with Naruto having a daughter--NO mpreg, blagh! It was done differently--and I'm quite shocked to find that the story isn't half bad. Oh, and no, the daughter isn't the main character, she's just support and comic relief. It's rare to find a fic that has an OC in it that doesn't suck, so kudos to the author of this fic. I'll post a quote from it at the end of this post. ^^

Ah, I know what to talk about now! I got a new manga this weekend, and leme tell ya, it's a good one! It's called Death Note. You've probably heard about it here on theotaku because they kept talking about the live action movie a while ago. I saw the book in the store and went "Hey, isn't that--?" So I bought it, and it is definitely worth the fuss. The art is great, and the story is even better--to save everyone my poor summary skills, I'll just type what's on the back of the book. ^^

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects--and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light loose sight of his noble goal. . . or his life?

Heheh, yes it is very interesting. In fact, here's a pic!

On the right is Ryuk, the Shinigami--obviously--and on the left is Light. Very enjoyable manga. Very dark, but very good. I'd highly suggest picking it up next time you're looking for a good manga to read. ^_^

Random Fanfic Quote of the Day:

”I know she was, Kitling. And if I ever catch her near you again, Gaara and Papa are going to find out just how many cuts a human body can take before it dies.”

“Generally, around two thousand.”

Naruto paused. Looked at Gaara, opened his mouth, closed it, opened it again, and then shook his head. “No. I’m not even going to ask how you know that. Come on, Kitling, let’s go see the doctor.”

Here's the other late Mother's Day thing I promised. As you can see, this one was for my Baachan. And yeah, that's me, and yeah that's what she asked for. . . though I'm kinda mad because I accidentally made my hair shorter than it is. It's actually closer to my elbows.

Oyasumi!
