Welcome to my site archives. 10 posts are listed per page.
It seems like it’ll take me a bit longer until I get my road-trip summary & pictures posted ^^;;
::WHAT’S BEEN UP::
The past few days since my return home have been busy. I’ve been apartment hunting for this Fall school term, and also working. Today, I will check out a few potential residences, and then it’s back to work this weekend.
::WHAT’S BEEN CONSUMED::
Despite all that busy work stuff, I managed to read several volumes of manga from my huge ‘back-log’ pile and also watch several anime episodes.
The manga volumes that I consumed were:
Getbackers 2, Wallflower 8, Sensual Phrase 15, Gunslinger Girl 2, Peach Girl: Change of Heart 1, Beauty is the Beast 4, Café Kichijouji 3, Absolute Boyfriend 2, MeriPuri 2, Faeries Landing 8-10, and Fruits Basket 14. And yet, the ‘pile’ still exists…
The anime episodes I consumed were:
Aishiteruze Baby 5-6, Peach Girl 4, Nana 12-14, Ouran Host Club 10, Bokura Ga Ita 2, Coyote Ragtime Show 2, Melancholy of Haruhi 5, One Piece 199, and Bleach 82-88. Yes, my anime ‘back-log’ and significantly larger than the manga one ^^;;
::WHAT’S BEEN STRANGE::
My younger brother is gonna be a college freshman in less than one week. Freshman orientation is next Wednesday and I’m finding it…strange. Yes, perhaps my ‘inner big sister’ is feeling odd that her brother is growing up ^^;; I know…they must grow up, eventually.
::WHAT’S AWESOME::
I have just received news that I have been granted a pharmacy scholarship for school! Yay! I applied for the darn thing way back during the Winter, and they finally responded. Still, no complaints. I was bored back then, so I thought, “Eh, why not? Just fill out the dorky application. If I get it, then awesome. And if not, then eh…” And…I got it. $1000 bucks! Any money is better than NO money at all!
::WHAT NOW::
I shall continue on with my week. I will work on my trip summary. I will work at my workplace. I will continue with my ‘consumption’ of geekiness. I will continue to enjoy the rest of my summer. I think I will also change the theme of this site. And before I depart, thank you so much for dropping by!
Gooood morning! I have returned from my trip *^_^* I have lots of stories to tell all you beautiful folks, but not today. I just arose from my slumber, and am still groggy. So, I shall share a more detailed summary of my trip in my next posting.
::Morning Quickies::
~Did you all water my plants and feed my pets while I was gone? I dunno…with all these carcasses here…LOL!!! Just kidding!
~I just got back on Sunday [yesterday] night. I went straight to bed. Zzzz!
~While our family was gone: My aunt and her hubby moved into their new house, My cousin turned 2 years old, and most importantly my mom’s older brother and his family arrived to the United States to live from Vietnam! After years of paperwork, they are finally here. We actually have not met up with them yet since they arrived in Washington, but they will be coming down to Oregon later this week!
::Comments:: Jangalian - My trip was indeed fun. Yellowstone was a huge park with many beautiful and usually geological formations. The weather was near perfect, which made the park even that much nicer. Pictures? No worries, I got a bunch!
enin - Oh, I definitely had a blast. I saw most of the animals I wanted to see, but unfortunately the bear was not around ^^;;
Magnus Lensherr - *huggles back* I missed you too! The beautiful locations you spoke of were indeed awesome…and very stinky ^^;; Why stinky? Well…I shall explain in my next posting. *^_^*
Arduous - LOL!!! I think I was able to relax with all the sight-seeing stuff ^^;; Nah, the trip was relaxing – hey, I didn’t have to go to work, right? Plus, how can I not relax when I’m surrounded by the beauteous wonders of Mother Nature? *^_^* Forget you guys? Never. LOL!
Seto Kaiba Freak - Man, I’m so glad that you’ve reconnected with the rest of the Internet world. I went for one week [this trip] without Internet connection, and I felt a bit…lost. Ah…the moose. I have much to tell, but later. During the trip I had ice cream, and the flavor was called Moose Tracks. Very yummy!
Sw33tz - A very fun trip, it was. The creatures were nice, just long as I didn’t get too close to them ^^;;
Mew Wem - Mewwy! Wemmy! Is that really you? *hugs* I have missed you so! I need to stop by your site and see what you’ve been up to, woman. Anywho…unfortunately I wasn’t able to get that close to the moose to examine his face ^^;; A shame, really. But still, go moose!!! Don’t worry, I have plenty of stories to share – but then again, I don’t know if my eyes will actually bleed *_* Hahaha! There is absolutely nothing wrong with dark humor. I have personally dished out healthy doses of it before *^_^*
::All-in-All::
A lot has happened during the trip, and at home. Overall, my family and I had a wonderful time. It was indeed a worthwhile summer trip. I shall begin compiling my next post, with pictures, to share with you all.
And as always, thank you for stopping by! I hope you all were merry while I was gone *^_^*
I don’t really have much to say except that…I’m going on VACATION starting tomorrow!!!
Yep, Monkey Orange shall disappear into the depths of the Midwestern United States for one whole week. She and her family will journey over the Rocky Mountains and into the massive national park, called Yellowstone. Lodging will be inside of a tent. Desired sitings include donkey, bear, moose, and geysers!
Moose! Moose!
I wanna see moose!!!
Okay guys & gals, be good!!! And have a GREAT week! As always, thanks for visiting my site.
::WORK, NOT::
I went to work yesterday…for less than half of the day. Apparently, pharmacy was fully staffed over in Inpatient. So I called over to the Epic Project to see if they needed help – which they usually do. Sadly, there were no projects for me to work on. I then called over to Outpatient because it’s always insanely busy. Again, I wasn’t needed. ^^;; Man, I felt so…unloved ^^;; Thus, I gathered up my things and went home *^_^* What can I do if there’s nothing to do? Eh.
::DRIVING MENTOR::
It has been an interesting experience in supervising my sister’s driving. She is learning well most of the times. All she needs is practice. I believe that the best way to learn anything is by diving right into the subject matter. This holds true for driving as well – however, it can also be quite frightening. Yesterday morning, my sister drove us back home from the gym. Our driveway is at an incline that evens out [slightly] at the top in front of the garage. What happened? My sister slightly drove into the brick siding on the side of the garage door ^^;; Pete, my car, now has a few scars on his bumper thingy. Lovely.
::MyO CLEAN-UP::
I decided to clean up my f-list yesterday on MyO site. I will say honestly that I do not take delight in having a long f-list full of people who never comment, or even have updated their site in over a year. I value each of my friends who take time out of their day to visit and comment on my site. I do the same thing as well. The relationship is supposed to be mutual. *^_^* Thus, I shall give each and every one of you ginormous hugs for sticking with me this long. I shall also give the same ginormous hugs to the new friends I have recently made *^_^* You all are the best!!!
I had a pretty nice day off from work on Tuesday *^_^* I was able to sleep in, but uh...I couldn't manage to get myself up in time to go to the gym ^^;; Eh.
My sister and I went shopping at the mall. I stopped by Borders and picked up my first batch of the August manga releases. And as it just so happens August is Viz manga month -- meaning, there was a lot purchased [9 volumes] *^_^* And of course, my list of "to-read" manga has grown even larger, again.
Manga-to-Read
GetBackers 2, 3//Peach Girl: Change of Heart 1//MeriPuri 2, 3, 4//Gunslinger Girls 2//Samurai Deeper Kyo 19//Fruits Basket 14//Sensual Phrase 15//Cafe Kichijouji 3//Faeries Landing 8, 9, 10//Hellsing 7//Beauty is the Beast 4//Crimson Hero 3//Aishiteruze Baby 3//God Child 2//Absolute Boyfriend 2 //Wallflower 8//Angel Sanctuary 15//Only the Ring Finger Knows: the Lonely Ring Finger//Only the Ring Finger Knows: the Left Hand Dreams of Him
Some other purchases made include a CD titled the Black Eyed Peas: Monkey Business - which was surprisingly good. I couldn't help but bounce up and down in my car as I was driving *^_^* I also bought a black eye pencil-thingy from Estee Lauder and some fancy panties from Victoria's Secret *^_^* Teehee...
Later that day, my sis, litle bro, and I baked a fresh blackberry pie. Mmm... I was doubtful about the resulting taste, but it turned out quite yummy -- especially with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Yum, yum!
Okies. And now it's back to work at the hospital on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm hoping that work will be chill on those days. I'll get Friday off, and then it's vacation time! Yosh! No worries, I shall try to keep updating until then.
::WORK - ICU and CODE 99::
I'm not totally done yet, BUT I did finish my 2 days working at the ICU [Intensive Care Unit]. And you know what? I wasn't as terrifying as I thought it would be. As I mentioned on my last post, Saturday was nice and calm. However, Sunday was quite different. Can you believe it? We had TWO CODE 99 in the ICU. CODE 99 means that the patient's heart stopped beating. It was quite chaotic, but luckily both patients were saved *^_^*
Thank goodness for GOOD doctors, nurses [a loud shout out to Summoner Rekka *^_^*], and pharmacists. Yes, pharmacists! Pharmacists do NOT just count pills, you know! That is SUCH an unfortunate stereotype. The pharmacist I worked with today in the ICU played a very important AND active role in saving the patients lives. Once the CODE 99 is called, the pharmacist is RIGHT THERE in the room with the doctors and nurses. The pharmacist stands by and listens to the orders given, and prepares the necessary meds & IVs used to save the patients. Yep, yep. Such are the duties of the ICU pharmacist.*^_^*
::ANIME & MANGA & K-MOVIES::
I can honestly babble on about these subjects, but I shall spare you all the pain ^^;; Thus, I shall be brief *^_^*
ANIME: One Piece -- G8 Arc is very good for a filler. Naruto -- is very bad for the filler. Melancholoy of Haruhi Suzumiya - I want to join the SOS Brigade. Peach Girl - Sae must die. Ouran Host Club - Wai *^_^* Aishiteruze Baby - no, Kippei's being stalked by a freaky fangirl!
MANGA: Ock! More of my packages from Amazon.com arrived in the mail ^^;; Many, many to read. I am still expecting 2 more packages. And...and...August is approaching with a bunch of new releases *swoon* Happiness, of course. I just finished the Antique Bakery series. I am planning to start Get Backers 2. And then...what to read next??? *grins*
K-MOVIES: It's all SW33TZ's fault! ^^;; I went out and download to Korean movies: My Sassy Girl and He Was Cool. Hehe. Nah, I do not completely blame her. The first movie was based on the recommendation from my Korean friend, but the second movie was all due to Sw33tz. LOL!!! I am quite excited to watch them. Yay!!! *^_^*
::DRIVERS PERMIT::
Yay! My sister just got her permit! It only took her 3 times. It took my bro 1 time, and it took me 2 times. Hehe. I let my sis drive around the neighborhood today. She did a good job, but was definitely nervous. LOL!!! I have faith in my sister. I believe she will turn out to be a competent driver, hopefully ^^;;
::ALL-in-ALL::
I am glad that you all enjoyed the video I posted yesterday *^_^* I love Apocalyptica! And...I also realized that the name of the song is shown right at the beginning of the video. ^^;; Ah well.
Thanks SO much for dropping by! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and a wonderful week to come!
My Friday was fun! My sister and I went hiking *^_^* Work at the ICU also went pretty well! Yes, this update will be a bit brief because I gotta go snooze for more work tomorrow.
Anywho, I shall leave you with this live music video of Apocalyptica in concert. You've heard of Metallica, right? Well, just imagine a collision between the heavy metal music of Metallica with a bunch of cello musicians, yet die-hard Metallica fans from Finland. Viola! And you get Apocalyptica!
So, your assignment is to watch this video and let me know what you think! I shall also be posting more of their videos later this week!
Enjoy!
P.S. Bonus points for whoever names this song, correctly!
::WORK::
I worked at the hospital this Tuesday and Wednesday. Once again, my purpose there was to serve as a full technician. The first day was pretty easy, yet quite busy. And on Wednesday, I trained with the ICU technician in preparation for the weekend. The training seemed pretty straight foward. Now, I only pray that ICU this weekend will be slow and simple ^^;;
::DVDS::
I bought to movie DVDs the other day. The first movie was Tombstone, which is one of my most favorite movies. The second movie was Silverado, which is another western movie. Yes, I admit that I enjoy watching Western cowboy movies -- especially the more modern ones. Although, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly shall remain as the best western cowboy classic -- go Blondie!
::WEATHER::
Yep. I am happy to say that the weather has finally simmered down. Now, it's just plain sunny and warm *^_^* And that's how I like my summers!
I was able to get out and play some evening tennis with my sister and lil bro. Man, I miss playing tennis! Hehe...I think I may even join the school tennis club this coming school year ^^;; I admit that I am still new to this sport, but I just want to keep up and improve my skills. And perhaps...just perhaps...whip out some gravity-and-logic-defying tennis strokes like on the Prince of Tennis -- yeah, right!
::CONFESSION::
My pharmacy super-manager-guy had a birthday celebration in the main pharmacy. And...and...I ate it. I ate a very delicious chocolate cake with a mega scoop of vanilla ice-cream *doom* And then...after dinner, I had a small scoop of Oreo ice cream *extra doom* Man, it's tough. The temptation. I really am trying to resist, you know ^^;; *sighs*
Random Question:
If you can invent a new ice-cream flavore, then what would it be???
Excellent. The three triple digit hot days has finally come to end. So, instead of being in the low hundreds, we are now in the upper 90s - ^^;; I'm not exactly sure if I shoul be rejoicing yet, but at least that nasty humidity is gone. Yes, I detest humidity *_*
::Last Friday Beach Trip::
The trip to the beach on Friday was nice. The temperature on the coast was much more agreeable and pleasantly cool compared to the valley. Myself and the siblings played in the sun for a few hours and headed home. A good day, definitely.
::Weekend Work::
Ugh. I worked this past weekend at the hospital. I was a full & complete technician replacement for the IV Pharmacy. Unfortunately, I was NOT completely trained as a full technician and was therefore unaware of how to fulfill all the responsibilities. Yes, the pharmacists were a bit irked but they also felt bad that I was tossed into this situation. I was lucky and managed to get through those 2 days.
Unfortunately, I must work again as a full technician replacement for the ICU!!! At first I was excited to work in a new setting but now I am freaked out because, once again, I have NOT been fully trained! And I will be dumped into a new environment and expected to carry responsibilities that I am unware of. AND, since this is the ICU...I am a bit concerned. I need to speak with my manager guy this week to see if something can be done before I work on the weekends.
Training is important. I want to carry out my responsibility in an efficient and safe manner -- especially in the ICU!
::Monday::
A nice day off. I bummed around and watch plenty of anime. I was able to resume watching a few old shows, and also start some new series.
I watched 1 episode from the following series:
Melancholoy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2:
I had NO idea what to expect after watching the first episode -- which was quite bizarre. But, I am now totally into this series!
Coyote Ragtime Show 1:
Awesome. Go check it out now! Reminscent of Cowboy Bebop. Fugitives. Investigators. Space. Guns. Action. Treasure. I love it!
Kaikan Phrase 14:
Man, it's been a while. I am glad to see that fortune has finally sought out my favorite band. And wait...wait...I think I saw Aine in the preview. *giggles* Methinks this anime is finally gonna start overlapping with the manga story.
Aishiteruze Baby 2:
This show is SO sweet. But you know, I think it'll become a tear jerker near the end. Still, I will enjoy it to the fullest! SO CUUUTE!!!
Ouran High School Host Club 8:
Haha! I remember reading this story in the manga. So far, so good! I love Tamaki! LOL!!!
One Piece 196:
Goodbye Skypiea Arc, Hello G8 Arc. Of all the luck, the Straw Hat pirates HAD to land [literally] right smack dab in the middle of the G8 marine base ^^;; I wonder how they'll get out of this situation.
Groove Adventure Rave 1:
Much, much, much better than that kiddy-fied crap that was shown on Cartoon Network's Toonami! Finally, I can listen to the original music and the voice cast. Edits are also gone! Yes!
Peach Girl 5:
I hate Sae. Toji is dense. Kailey is yummy! Momo is tough! *nods* Must watch more.
I finally burned off all 51 episodes of Groove Adventure Rave onto DVDs, so my disc drive has more room for downloads. I want to download the first episode of yet another brand new series called Bokura ga Ita. *giggles* I also need to download all the other episodes that I've missed ever since my disc drive was too stuffed to handle more ^^;;
::All-in-All::
It's getting late, and I must retire for work. Thank you SO much for dropping by and reading this post. I shall visit you all later when I have some free time. *^_^*
::HOT::
I was listening to the news on my radio, and the weather dude said that there will be an 'excessive heat' warning issued for the pacific northwest - and that includes Oregon! Icky. Triple digit temperatures are expected for this weekend.
I'm not worried too much about it since I will be working at the hospital this entire weekend. However, my family is volunteering to work at the Art Fair so they will be quite roasty-toasty. ^^;;
Today, though, is also hot. Unfortunately, I am not working so i won't be protected by my cold air conditionig system. I was thinking about taking the siblings out to the coast today so we could cool off *^_^* Yes, I think I will go! I LOVE the ocean!
::CONVENTION TIME::
I need to purchase my tickets for the upcoming Kumoricon anime convention in Portlad. This summer I will be attending with my sister and two girl cousins. We will all be dressing up ^^;; Sadly, I still have no clue as to what/who I should dress as ^^;;
::ALL-in-ALL::
A short post for today. I need to get ready for my siblings 'summer strings' music concert. It should be nice. I ALWAYS love listening to those buttheads play their instruments. It should be good. Well folks, I shall be you all a goodbye for today. Have a wonderful Friday!
