*^^* Bishie of the Moment *^^*

Haru Glory, from Groove Adventure Rave

Mini Profile
-Birthplace: Garage Island
-Age: 15
-Quest: Find his dad, beat up bad guys, help out his friends, and to bring the world some peace.

Fangirl Comment:
I figured that since I'll be seeing Haru this Saturday on Cartoon Network, that I might as well give him some attention ^^ That's what a fangirl does, right?

[Although, it was a tough decision between featuring Haru OR featuring Eiri ala Gravitation. But I'll save Eiri for later ^^;]

I like Haru for many reasons. I guess that the main reason would be that he's such a free spirit. Seriously, if I ever encountered such a guy when I was in high school--I'd SO be in love *^^*

EDIT:
Did you notice? This is my first time posting up a picture ^^ I FINALLY figured out how to do so ^^; Yay for free image-posting sites *^^*

Side Effects of the Warming Weather

I love the summer! I really do!

HOWEVER, it's always the beginning of the summer season that kills me--literally, almost ^^;

You see, I get these nasty allergies. And from where I'm from, the location is known for it's notorious selection of molds & various allergens.

My nose gets runny; throat starts itching; and sneezing continously like a freak. I end up feeling horrible.

BUT, this usually only lasts for a few weeks so I just gotta tough it out.

Hehe. Actually, before I went off to College on the other side of the country I was quite nasty ^^; My nose was constantly runny like a leaky faucet. I was the queen of snot! SNOT!

After spending four years away from home, this State, my sinuses finally cleared up. I was able to breathe clearly through BOTH nostrils. I was free!!!

Although I no longer have continuous, year-round allergies, I still get them periodically. I get bad reactions from the first few weeks of the summer AND from cats.

Quite sad. I actually like cats--but can NEVER live with them. When I encounter cat dander, my chest tightens, eyes irritated, I sneeze and I wheeze.

Blah.

So here's a question for thought:

Do you have any bothersome allergies [as if allergies are NOT bothersome enough, right?]?

Before I take my leave:
-May all your allergies stay AWAY from you !
-And, have a great weekend!

Oh my gosh, my 16 year old brother is driving!!!

It's SO true!

Today, I let him drive behind the wheel for the first time.

Geesh. Now I know how my dad felt when I first started out. *anxious, very anxious* ^^;

I'm like 'You gotta keep looking at the mirrors...signal before you reach the exact point...work on you break when you come to a stop...don't speed up when you enter a parking lot!'

It's okay. He just needs more practice. After all, NOBODY can be a worst driver than me ^^;

My driving record:
-With permit: 1 fender bender
-With license, 1 year later: 1 totaled car [not my fualt!]
-With license, 1 year & 6 months later: 2 cars totaled [again, not my fualt!].
-Miscellaneous accidents & bumps afterwards ^^;

It's not that I'm a bad driver. It's just that I'm a driver with BAD luck--literally!

Car colors that I avoid: Blue & White! I don't drive blue cars anymore, for they were the ones that got totalled. And I am overly cautious of on-coming white cars, for they were the ones that almost killed me. Bah!

   A Slice of My Life

Boredom:
Okay. Let's just say I got a bit bored this morning so I decided to play around some more on OB.

I visited some sites and even tinkered around with MyO. Look! I even changed my border and defualt text colors too! Heh. It's not like rocket science or anything ^^;

Discovery of Fangirls:
During my 'sites' visitations, I stumbled across a bunch of other fellow Anime fangirls and Saiyuki fans! Woo hoo! It's nice to know that I'm not the only bishie lover! Well, in the 'real' world it's only me, my little sis, and my cousin. We always get strange looks from my brothers. Ah well. It's a fun vice, right?

Today's Doings:
Today I'm picking my sister up from school a bit early [early dismissal] and we're gonna do some manga checks at the bookstore--hopefully. If there isn't time, then we'll do it tomorrow since she doesn't have school. I'm truly hoping that some of my desired manga will be released early ^^

Movies:
Later this week, on Friday, we'll finally be going to see Harry Potter 3. It should be fun. Sadly, my sister told me that this will be Oliver Woods' last year at Hogwarts. Very sad. I like Oliver. Well actually, I like the actor who plays Oliver Wood--he's a cutie *^^*

Saturday:
My cousin [the other brainwashed fangirl] is having her 15th birthday celebration. I shall NOT post what my sis and I got her 'cause I know that she tends to wander to this site as well ^^ But yes, it should be fun.

And of course, what else is happening on this day? *glances down at the previous post* *^^* TV Goodness, of course.

Weather & Hair:
Yep. It's finally getting warm for once. Please stay warm! Unlike my brother who totally abhores the sun, I love the sun! There is a suffucient amount of melanin in my skin so I'm not afraid of skin cancer. *^^* Bring it on baby!

Hair? Umm yeah. Even though I lover my newly long hair, I am beginning to feel a bit like Rapunsel ^^; Perhaps a 3 inch trup w/ layers. Nice.

Summer School & the end of the Sloth Lifestyle:
*gasp* Only 3 weeks of lazy/bummy freedom before I hit the books. Man. I have to be in school the ENTIRE summer, and then again during the Fall for the next 4 years.

*sighs* My 2 years of being a bum were definitely good. *examines herself* In fact they were so good that I think I gained like over 5 pounds. EEK!!!

College is notorious, but being a bum outta college is even worse.

TO THOSE HEADING OUT TO COLLEGE: KEEP YOURSELF IN SHAPE. EAT HEALTHY AND EXERCISE!!! DON'T GIVE INTO BEER AND PIZZA! YOU MAY NOT SEE THE EFFECT THEN! BUT YOU WILL SEE IT LATER!!! [umm, I don't really drink beer that much but it's just as potent as pizza!].

Uh yeah. Once I head back to school this fall I am SO going to try my best and get into shape. I REALLY need to lose the chuncks I gained over the course of 6 years. It'll be much easier to accomplish once I'm away from home. i don't know about YOUR family, but at home MY entire family eats a lot! Very unusal for Asians. Life at home is just to tempting.

Once I'm back a school this fall, my new motto will be:

STUDY, DIET, STUDY, EXERCERISE, STUDY, ANIME/MANGA & STUDY!!!!

-Become a top student in my class
-Lose some pounds
-Be more active than a sloth
-Enjoy more Anime and Manga

Hehe. Wish me luck and strong will power! *^^*

Raving about 'Rave Master'

And now for a little special education & announcment...

EVENT: Premiere of Groove Adventure Rave, or US Title Rave Master

DATE, TIME, CHANNEL: Saturday, June 5th @ 830pm on Cartoon Network.

Let the Raving begin:
Shounen. Very shounen. So if you like action/adventure with big cool swords and nifty powers...then come and join!

I admit that I haven't seen the anime yet. However, I have read the entire first saga so I pretty much know what's gonna happen. I've been wanting to see the anime for at least a year now! And finally, I'll get to see it!

The only concerns I have revolve around how Cartoon Network will show it--especially the fact that it's gonna premiere on Saturday Toonami and NOT Adult Swim. *sniffle* It's okay. I'll just eat what they dish out for now. Later, I plan to purchase it when the dvds are released.

Hehe. I'm usually quite picky about my Shounen anime. I mean, yes, action is crucial for a male-targetted genre--but there has to be more. LUCKILY, there IS more to offer with Rave Master.

Rave Master = Shounen

BUT unlike most Shounen anime that,
a. Are 'game' centered [Yugioh, Hikaru no Go, Pokemon]
b. Are 'fighting' centered [Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragonball & Co.]

This show falls under the category of Shounen that,
c. Are 'quest' centered.

Now, I'm NOT going to say that this is one of those 'thought' provoking shows like [Trigun, or whatever]--because it's NOT! All I'm gonna say is that there will be MORE story to this action-centered anime than the usual shows ^^

Eh. I'll let you decide for yourself. I can't MAKE you watch it, no. I can only give you may suggestion. So if you happen to be bored on Saturday evening, then you can always turn on the TV to Cartoon Network ^^.

The Story in a tiny Nutshell:
Haru is a 15 year old boy who lives on Garage Island with is older sister. One day, he goes fishing and fishes out a strange and unusual creature [and I DO mean unusual]. This creature turns out to be Plue [a dog, in Haru's opinion] who becomes Haru's...sidekick, I think.

Events occur that lands Haru the position of being the next Rave Master. Haru INITIALLY sets out to seek some powerful items in order to bring back balance to world AND most importantly to find the whereabouts of his missing father.

Later on, Haru is accompanied by two more friends who also have their own agendas. Of course, being the nice person that he is, Haru agrees to help them out and they also agree to help him out.

Yay! And now we've completed the group. Together Haru & Co. will journey to strange lands, fight off mean bad-guys, learn unknown things about their pasts and themselves, and...that's only the beginning.

   Great Weekend

Oh yeah. I got back from being at the Beach House and it was great!

I always LOVE being at the ocean. The look, the sound, and even the fishy smelly is wonderful.

So, how was your Memorial Day weekend?

Okies. Dinner is calling.

   Reading Trends

Confessions of a lazy Mind:
When I was a young child, I hated reading. Why? I was just TOO lazy! THAT and the fact that my reading comprehension wasn't that great. So, I didn't even bother to try anymore.

Yes. I was envious of my 'bookworm' friends. Envious and disgusted at the same time. How did they do it--reading book after book without falling aleep or getting distracted? Didn't the thickness of the book, or the size of the print, or the lack of the pictures just turn them off? I guess not.

Yes. I was afraid of books. They were NOT my friends. The TV was MY friend cause it's SO easy to figure out. Eck! No wonder my reading comprehension wasn't as good at my other collegues. I didn't even bother trying!

You know, that not true! I don't think I was stupid. I was just LAZY! TOO lazy to get my ass and to actually SEARCH for an interesting book. ^^;

Yes, I'm bad. I never even finished reading a book in my whole life...until 7th grade!

It was during that year that I picked-up and finished a book for the very FIRST time! Amazing, I know. It was also during that time that I became and avid and appreciative reader of books. I must give my friend many thanks for introducing me to my love of reading. I went from reading zero pages to reading 500+ pages. I was no longer intimidated by books with extended width, no pictures, and small prints. As long as I found my book of interest, it was all good. *^^*

Trends:
I read a lot of books when I was in middle school and high school. It waned a bit when I was in college, simply because the load of course-work permitted little time for free reading.

I've noticed that I go through certain 'trends' while I read. I usually read books from one genre/author to death, and then I move on to the next.

Here's a list of the genres/authors I've gone through, or is heading towards:
-Courtroom Drama [many by John Gisham] like the Client, the Firm, and etc.
-Medical Thrillers [many by Robin Cook] like Invasion.
-Mystery [JD Robb]
-Science Fiction [Orson Scott Card]
-Romance: Gasp! Yep. I've read smut too!
-Fanstasy: My favorite genre, and one that I'm trying to move away from. Ugh! I've read SO many from this genre...I can still 'taste' it.
-Manga: My newest addiction. Good stuff. I wonder though, just how long will it last? So far, I'm enjoying it very much!

So, do you go through 'trends' when you read? Or do you usually stick to a particular genre? Or do you just not read? It's okay *^^*

Re-reading:
I rarely re-read my books--simply because the ones that I own a VERY long! The only books that I DO re-read are ones that are pretty short. As for my manga...I re-read those ALL the time ^^ I like getting my monies worth from my purchases!

Do you re-read stuff?

On a side note:
How is the weather where you are right now? This instant? Right now, there appears to be a downpour outside my bedroom window--which sucks cause I gotta go drive in it soon!

But no fear, for I'VE GOT RAIN-X!!!

WOO HOO!

YES, MY POSTS ARE LONG!
I am a firm believer in getting the MOST out of everything--even this post. So yes, it may bore the heck from my readers. So...if you are still here and reading this, then I applaud you.

For you do NOT have ADD!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKENED EVERYONE! I shall return next week!

   Anime & Manga

Anime:
Inuyasha Did you know that the movies are gonna be released in the U.S. starting this summer? Well, they are. I've only seen the first movie so far, and it was pretty good. The movie that I'd like to see is the third movie: Inuyasha vs. Sesshomaru. In that movie, we'll also get introduced to 'daddy,' who also wears 'fluff' like Sesshomaru. ^^; My sister plans on getting the movies--adding more to her collection of 'Inuyasha' stuff.

Vision of Escaflowne After a few months of hiatus, I've decided to resume my rewatching of this wonderful series. So today I ended up watching episodes 15-17. Good stuff. This series was the very first series that I bought. It also remains as one of my top favorite shoujo/shounen/mech shows ever. A time-less classic. The story is interesting, the characters DO grow, and the music is plain wonderful. Oh, how I miss watching this show!

Manga:
Sadly, Angel Sanctuary 2 was not in. GNs published by Viz often arrive late at the bookstore. Well, I'll try again next week. By then, hopefully DNAngel 2 and Juvenile Orion 3 will be in as well. ^^

Although I didn't find what I looking for, I did manage to pick-up the early-released Rave Master 9--which I shall discuss later because this post is long!

   What a great weekend!!!

So yeah. My best friend flew up to visit me this past Thursday. She stayed at my place until today, Monday. *^^*

I love having guests over--more specifically, my friends. Actually, it's kinda sad because I don't have many friends in this state ever since I came back from college. Whatever.

Anyways, we did many fun things while she was here.

Friday We went to visit the cities and scenic sites along the Oregon coast. Luckily, it wasn't windy. ^^ We also ate a famous chowder house called Mo's Very yummy.

Saturday We kinda bummed around on this day. I took her to the Wal-Mart Supercenter--which is huge! We also went to the mall. We ended up watching two movies that day: Shrek 2 [funny, but okay] and Troy [VERY GOOOD!!!].

Sunday We took a day trip to Seattle. I had to drive for 4 hours, with only 4 hours of sleep the previous night! I was pretty tired @_@ When we got there we met up with my best friend's friend, Sam.

Together we watched a Major League Baseball game--it was the Seattle Mariners vs Detroit Tigers and the home team won *^^* It was my second time watching an MLB game--very fun! I ate a hotdog and some fresh roasted peanuts--all I needed was some Kracker Jacks to complete the overall 'baseball' experience ^^

Next we went to the huge Uwajimiya store that was close to the stadium. I had some mochi icecream for the first time and it was yummy ^^ I then went over to the Kinokuniya bookstore to look at some stuff. Sadly, they didn't have what I wanted--which was a Prince of Tennis TV artbook.

Lastly, we toured some scenic areas in Seattle--again, gorgeous. We then completed our experience with dinner at a seafood resturant called Ivar's.

I filled my belly with salmon and coffee, and drove home for another 4 hours.

Monday Today. I drove her back to the airport. All in all, it was a fun weekend. But I was SO exhuasted that when I got home I went straight to my bed and took a nap. ^^ I'm feeling much better now.

Oh Yeah! My friend is a neat freak! When she was here she noticed that my car windshield needed major waxing! How? When I picked her up from the airport, it was raining. Sadly, my windshield [for some odd reason] kept smudging the water everywhere! Very low visability.

She was concerned and I told her that I didn't know why it was like that--maybe it has something to do with the wipers. She said 'no.' It needed waxing! So we went to Walmart and bought some Rain-X. The next day I waxed my windshield and was amazed at the results.

What's the point of this story? Well, I became obsessed with waxing my windshield! The day afterwards, I waxed them again. And then I waxed the backshield. And today, I waxed my dad's car's windshield. I've become a windshield-waxing freak!!! And my friend says that I'm addicted to Rain-X. It's true! ^^:

So, here's a question for thought:
Do you have an 'unsual' hobby, or habit [it can be something just recently, or long term]?

and...

What are your plans for Memorial Day weekened?

Me? Our family to going to a rented beach house on the coast. It was a gift from my aunt. Sounds fun BUT it's gonna be SO crowded. The ENTIRE extended family is gonna be crammed into one house! Crazy, I tell ya!
