The first episodes of D. Gray Man and Death Note have been released. I can’t wait for them to be fansubbed this week so that I can download and watch this weekend *^_^*
Ah yes, this weekend my family will be celebrating Autumn Moon Festival and that means…I’ll get to eat yummy lotus moon cakes. Excellent. Though the lotus moon cakes are delicious, they are also high in sugar and fat ^^;; Thus, I shall practice self-restraint.
Okay. I have decided to drop one of my dancing classes – West Coast Swing. There are a few reasons for this. First, I’m just not feeling the mood to be learning this dance. I’m already taking Ballroom II, so I think that’ll quench my dancing thirst in the mean time. Secondly, I want to try out Tennis Club that meets 7-9pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday [West Coast Swing meets Tuesday nights from 7-9pm]. I am still very fresh to tennis so hopefully the extra practice will help me to improve.
Lastly, Tuesday [yesterday] was horrible! Why? I spilled tea onto my brand new digital camera, and…it died! *_* Totally dead. I can’t even get it to turn on. I’m going to try to recharge the battery and see if it works – doubt it, though. And if not, I’m going to see if I can get it replace.
Man, I am SUCH a klutz! *bangs her head on the study table*
Before I begin my rambles, I would like to thank those of you who commented on my last post. Your words mean very much to me, and rest assured I’m feeling better *^_^*
So, how was everyone’s weekend? Relaxing? Productive? Lazy? Terrible? Awesome?
My weekend was half relaxing and half boring/tiring. I spent my Saturday hanging out my family. My sister and I got to venture to the mall where I picked up three manga volumes: Nana 4, Aishiteruze Baby 4, and new series for my library called Tail of the Moon 1. Darn you Viz, why must you tempt me with all these wonderful new manga titles you’re releasing this October. ^^;; Whatever.
And on Sunday, I ended up covering for the other pharmacy intern at the hospital. Yep, I went to work – which was totally unplanned and a bit rude of my colleague to have given me such short notice. Still, it’s money *^_^* even though it was really slow yesterday. I had a bad hair day, so that didn’t help my mood much either ^^;;
Ah yes, I wanted to mention that my digital camera arrived in mail – woo hoo! I’m also expecting my mp3 player to arrive sometime later this week. Hehe, yes, I like getting goodies in the mail. Who doesn’t, right? Just as long as it’s not a bill, you know?
Okay. Before I take off, I would like to shout out that,
October is National Pharmacy Month!
So, gather up all your health/medical/well-being concerns, grab the nearest pharmacist to you, and ask away. Pharmacists are your friends *^_^*
Uhm, yes. I had a little mini mental breakdown this morning as I realized the ‘suckiness’ of having to repeat my second year of pharmacy school. The realization that I discovered was that…I have no friends among my ‘new classmates’ and that I really miss my ‘original’ classmates who have all moved to another town to complete their third year.
I sat in one place for the longest time feeling very alone. I was supposed to visit my Japanese instructor and attend a dancing practice session, but my thoughts were consumed by the overwhelming feeling of loneliness. I almost wanted to cry, but I didn’t *^_^* I’m better than that. I must survive, so I will survive!
*ahem*
Anyways, fall 2006 anime will begin airing in Japan within the next two weeks. I am quite happy – though, it’s not like I’ll get to download them immediately while I’m at school because my connection sucks. But, hopefully the shows will be fansubbed quickly so that I can watch them over the weekend when I’m at home.
Anyways, here is a clip of the Death Note anime. It’s note much, but enough to get me excited.
My first two days of classes went fairly well *^_^*
::MONDAY CLASSES::
Health Data Analysis & Epidemiology
I was actually pretty excited to take this class. Unfortunately, it was already at full capacity. I went to the department office to see if they could squeeze me into the course, but they said ‘no’ because the course is not within my major. So I guess I won’t be taking this class at all. Whatever.
Japanese I
Crowded. Lots of students were squished into a small classroom. I felt sorry for the 10 or so students that had to stand or sit on the floor. And still, this is supposed to be the primary lecture class? I gotta make sure to arrive early from now on. Other than that, my instructor is a hyperactive fifty-something year old Japanese woman.
Ballroom Dancing II
Mainly a review of the dances we learned from Ballroom I, like the Waltz, Fox Trot, Single-Time Swing, and American Tango. I’m looking forward to learning them in more detail.
Piano I
Besides the fact that the air conditioning died & that the room was blistering hot, the class went smoothly. I learned sitting posture, hand position, and some rhythm stuff. Afterwards, I started practicing a very simple song, and even looked ahead in my book to learn the piano keys, Excellent. I can’t wait to learn more!
::TUESDAY CLASSES::
Pharmacokinetics I
It felt very strange entering that class and barely knowing a large majority of the new second year students. I sat in the very back and noticed a classmate from my original class *^_^* At least I was no longer alone *^_^*
Japanese I Recitation
Crazy. The entire class was verbally drilled on words and sentences we had to memorize. Quite nerve racking, but I survived *^_^*
Tennis I
I love my tennis instructor! She’s the coolest. I took the same class from her last spring term, and decided to take it again to improve myself. But somehow, this class turned from a 50-minute class to an 80-minute class. A little tiring, but I still love it!
Medicinal Chemistry & Pharmacology – Review
I am NOT officially taking the class. The only reasons why I am present is because I was highly encouraged by the College to keep my brain fresh on the material and because I want to so as well ^^;; The awesome thing about this class is that I was able to meet up with some of my other classmates from the original class. Again, I am no longer alone *^_^*
Guitar I
I am 1 of 4 girls in the entire class. Whatever. Apparently I had a ‘distressed’ look on my face so the instructor decided to pick on me – in an encouraging way. Did I really look that freaked out? He told me to change my fingering for the G chord, which is very awkward feeling. Apparently my present fingering is not as optimal as the way he wants it done. Eck! Fine, you old man! I’ll do it ^^;;
West Coast Swing I
This is SO not an easy dance. It wasn’t until the end of class that I was finally able to accomplish the basic rhythm of this dance. Okay. I must practice more and more. This class only meets once per week, so I gotta make sure I don’t forget!
::IMPRESSIONS::
This fall term is going to be fun and physically exhausting. I think that having to wake up every morning at 5:45am to go to the gym and then having evening classes at 5pm OR 6pm-9pm will make my day that much longer. *collapses* I’m alright, really.
I really meant to visit your sites earlier, but with my classes and this SLOW connection at the apartment…I just couldn’t get to it sooner. Sorries ^^;; I will try again.
So, before I depart, I would like to congratulate Enin on his most recent announcement. I think that what you’ve decided to pursue is absolutely wonderful. I am very happy for you!
Okay, folks. I’m now off to collapse into a corner so that I can rest up.
I finally moved into my new place yesterday [Saturday]. And good thing my mum packed me a bottle of Fabreeze air freshener because it smells quite odd - not my room, but the other places. It smells like boiled soy beans *spray, spray*
My laptop has finally decided to co-operate with me so I am now able to mooch off of the free wireless provided. HOWEVER, the service is quite slow and schizophrenic ^^;; But hey, it's something right? I'm actually using it right now so hopefully it doesn't go wacko on me.
Ah yes...Fall classes begin tomorrow. I am...quite excited to get back to the routine. But for now [today, Sunday] I must be off to take care of a few errands.
I shall be back later to visit you all and update.
SO awesome! I just watched the first half of the Death Note movie on You Tube. Granted, I didn’t understand what was said, but I still enjoyed it. My impression so far is that the makers could’ve chosen a better Light. This actor was…okay.
However, I did enjoy watching Light’s fathers’s actor, who played as the Chairman Kaga from Iron Chef. As if I could ever forget Chairman Kaga! I was also able to pick out the actor who played Inui from the original Prince of Tennis musical -- he’s so cute! Man, I really want to watch the rest of this movie…and subtitled, too.
I was also able to peak at the trailer for Death Note movie 2. I think this is the best trailer I’ve seen so far. It looks like we’ll definitely be getting more of Light, L and Misa interaction. Oh, and we also get to see a sneak peak of Rem. Total awesomeness *^_^*
Wait…wait…is that another Red Hot Chili Peppers song I hear playing in the background? First it was Dany California for the first movie, and now this. Cool. Lastly, judging from this trailer, I have a strong feeling that the moviemakers are going to be doing some massive story compression in the sequel.
I shuttled the siblings to school in the morning. I managed to clean out and vacuum my car, Pete *^_^* I changed my MyO theme from Dr. Jackal to One Piece.
Later, my pharmacy manager guy called to see if I wanted to work on Thursday. Uhm, heck yeah! I’ll also get to work on Friday. And afterwards, it’ll be another several weeks until I get to earn some money again. Well, at least I was granted Work Study aid at my University. I will be working as a teaching assistant for my professors – which means I’ll get to harass…err…guide the little first year pharmacy students.
The weather here has returned to it’s normal rainy-ness. I asked myself, “Why is it getting cold and wet now?” And then I realized… “Ahh…it’s no longer summer. It’ll be October soon. That’s why!” Duh! Apparently I am still living in the summer season. Geez.
I’ve also noticed that I’ve been feeling more relaxed and less in-touch with ‘time’ ever since I refused to replace the batteries for my watch several months ago. ^^;; On the surface, these feelings may seem obvious, but…I dunno. When I think about it more, it just fascinates me. Strange, I know.
Anyhow, only a few days left before I move to the new place & back to school. I gotta start seriously gathering up my things together.
And lastly, I’ve managed to download yet another bishie loaded anime series. I had been meaning to watch this show since it was available on fansub over a year ago. Hmm, I wonder how I was able to let it slip by. *sighs* As if I have the time to watch it anyways. (>_<)
I renewed my CPR certification yesterday through the American Red Cross. So, if you are ever rendered unconscious, choking, or with lack of a heartbeat, then feel safe to know that I can save you. Great, ain’t it ? *^_^*
In other news, I have placed an online order for my digital camera. It was shipped a few days ago and should arrive at home within a week. I’m getting a camera, yippee! Expect to see random pictures.
I stopped by my new apartment on Monday. The room is located in the basement, but it has a much more ‘welcoming’ feel than when I lived on the first and third floors. The added bonus to staying in the basement is that it doesn’t smell funny. I met one of my roommates. His name is Alex and he is very Russian. I took a peak into the kitchen and noticed a huge bottle of Vodka. Yep, he’s Russian alright ^^;; Kinda cute, too.
I’ve somehow managed to gather a few new manga titles to add to my library. The new series include Midori Days and Zombie Powder. Single titles include Voices of a Distant Star, Bus Gamer, and Hybrid Child.
I’ve also acquired the last DVD volume of Gankotsuou and 6th DVD volume of Detective Loki. I am definitely stopping my DVD purchases once I’ve got the 7th volume of Detective Loki. Although…I admit that I am quite tempted to continue collecting Basilisk, but then there’s that whole money issue ^^;;
Ugh. Perhaps mum was correct when she compared my manga/anime addictions to that of a drug addict ^^;;
I am SO looking to this fall 2006 anime premieres. I took a look at an online list and have made my decision as to which anime series I plan to download and watch. Of course, downloading and watching them depends on whether or not they will be fan-subbed and distributed. So, listed below are the anime series [w/links] that I plan to pick up once released:
Death Note
http://www.ntv.co.jp/deathnote/
This series is about a bored, high-school senior, who finds a Death Note along with an associated Shinagami. In stating his neutral position, the Shinagami decides to accompany Light on his quest for creating the perfect world. But course…will Light be able to outsmart the famous detective, L? Hehe, I love it!
Perfect Girl Evolution
http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/yamanade/
The manga series is called The Wallflower, and I’ve read up to volume 8. This series is about a girl named Sunako, and her four “pretty-boy” roommates. Sunako considers herself as a “creature of the dark” and engages in hobbies like watching horror movies, collecting frightening anatomical models, all things gruesome. Her aunt wants to transform Sunako into a “Lady”, and thus hires the four “pretty-boys” to help her accomplish this task. And the battle begins: one Creature of Dark versus four Creatures of Light!
Kin ‘iro no Chord
http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/neoromance/tv/corda/
This series is about a girl who attends a school where you are either enrolled into “ordinary” classes or “music” classes. Somehow this girl encounters a music fairy that gives her a magical violin. And with this violin, she begins her path in fulfilling her musical dreams at the school. Yay, an anime about music *^_^* Of course, the numerous bishies are an added bonus, too.
D. Gray-Man
http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/dgrayman/
I’ve read somewhere that this series is similar to Bleach but is however much darker. This series is about a young boy who is gifted with weapons on his left arm and eye that allows him to identify and combat monsters that arise from unsettled, dead souls. The Millenium Earl who wants to destroy the world is currently using these monsters as weapon. This boy then joins an organization and uses his powers to stop the evil Earl. Hehe, doesn’t sound like Bleach meets Full Metal Alchemist?
Bartender
http://www.bartender-tv.com/top.html
Man, finding information about this show was not easy. This series is about a young genius bartender who has won several championships. He gives it up and decides to work a simple hotel bar. And while he’s there, he helps bring a little light into the lives of the customers he serves. It doesn’t sound too thrilling, but I want to give it shot. A shot? Of what? Okay, that was bad ^^;;
Hataraki Man
http://www.hataraki-anime.com/
This is one of those ‘slice of life’ types of shows. This series follows a 28-year-old magazine editor, and her journeys through love, work, and everything else. It should be somewhat entertaining, I hope. *^_^* I gotta have my dose of drama!
Six shows. I think I’ve got the spectrum covered. I have Death Note for suspense. I have Perfect Girl Evolution for comedy. I have D. Gray-Man for action. I have Hataraki Man and Bartender for drama. And lastly, I have Kin ‘iro no Chord for comedy/romance/bishiness. But then again, I don’t have fantasy, sci-fi, or even BL. Eh. Sounds good to me, for now.
I have one more week of vacation before school starts. And I am excited to start fall quarter *^_^* Classes should be fun! The only thing that bothers me about this coming school year, are my new classmates – the class of 2009. I really really miss my original classmates – the class of 2008. ’08 classmates were the best, the most laidback, and the most sincere.
Instead, I’m forced to move forward with the class of 2009 for the next three years until I graduate >_<. *sighs* What’s wrong with the class of 2009? Let’s just say that I haven’t heard, and observed, good things about them. From my analysis, I’ve deduced that they are cannibalistic – every one is only about themselves, so “screw you.” Also, they are very cliquey – very little integration among classmates – “I only talk to and help those who are in my group. Screw you.”
In all honesty, it makes me sick that I will be associated with them. However, I will admit that they are not all like that. I am friends with a few of them who actually have souls. LOL!!! I…miss the class of 2008 SO much!!! But…such is the past. *sighs* I shall not let those classmates get to me! I will do my own thing and move toward the future!
In my heart, I will forever be Class of 2008. No doubt about it!
