*sigh* I don't really feel like talking to anyone right now. The only thing I actually want to do at the moment is write this and listen to music. This isn't really a rant, but... well, I feel like I need to say what's been bugging me.
For starters, there's Baten Kaitos Origins. Yes, I know that you probably think I'm crazy for getting depressed over a videogame. I dont' care what you think, it's the way I am.
I was doing pretty well earlier today, and making a lot of progress on sidequests and such. A lot of it actually made me really happy.
But then... well, I made it to disk 2, and foolishly saved right beforehand (when it was too late to get out of where I was). Following a short cut scene is a ridiculously unfair boss battle. 1 big bird and 2 smaller ones. Kill the smaller guys, and the big guy just lays an egg that hatches a new one after about 30 seconds. You can destroy the egg before it hatches, but it's hard. And no matter how much you damage the egg, the little bird hatches with full health. Total crap.
So I can't kill the little guys faster than he can make them. I decided on the strategy of killing one bird, then focusing on the big guy, then killing the next little guy that hatches. So there's always one little bird and the big one. Sounds simple, right? Just a little healing here and there, and it should work fine. Should work fine. But nooo.... the little bird that I ignored started healing the big bird. I had no idea they could even do that. And there's no freaking way I can kill both little guys, then focus on the big guy... because by the time I've killed the two of them, he's layed an egg to replace the first.
If I hadn't saved beyond the point of no return, I wouldn't have this problem. I could have gone back and trained on some enemies and stuff first. But I can't now. It... really sucks.
Almost exactly the same thing happened to me in the first game, only... well, I won't bore you with the details of that one. (and it wasn't nearly as hard, just... annoying.)
Unfortunately, it seems that the only way to remedy this problem is to... start over. Yeah. I'm going to keep trying, but if I haven't beaten him by midnight... I'll go back to the beginning.
Anyway, so that's mainly why I've been sad today.
The other stuff... well I was just sad because none of my plans were working out... And we're not going to the cider mill this weekend. I was really looking forward to it... ugh.
well... I'm gonna go try this boss for a while now. g'night.
