Playoffs
So my little brother, who knows far less about football than me, is awesome at predicting the playoff games. How awesome? Last year he missed only ONE GAME. So far he's 3-1 this year. Dang.
I'll post his predictions for this week before the games (probably Friday) so we can truly see how he does. And for fun, I'll pick against him. It's on.
Playoffs...hmm, that gives me an idea about the upcoming release of SSB: Brawl... Comments (0) |

Ch-ch-changes
So if you're keeping up, you know that Version Vibrant is due out within the month, which is really exciting. Personally, I'm looking forward to all the new customization I get to play with (and maybe put in my own CSS coding). Also out in nearly a month: Super Smash Bros. Brawl! I'm going to use this space to geek out over it for the next month, so be prepared!
Smashing...
So yeah, I was involved in a car wreck this past Tuesday. Still feeling the effects of that one. The car was totaled (my poor mustang...), but luckily I'm not. Still going to be a pain in the $@* getting back and forth.
Fortunately, the two best possible outcomes resulted from the wreck:
1) Everyone was able to walk away
2) It wasn't my fault (the other car pulled out in front of me)
What is torture?
So all of these great games are coming out for Christmas, and being that a lot of them are for the PS3 and X360, I can't play them. But that's not really the bad part. You see, my little brother is getting Super Mario Galaxy for Christmas, and he doesn't know it. The problem is that I DO. So now I have to sit and look at it all wrapped up under the tree until the 25th. All wrapped up and not being played. By me.
You know, it's really unfair to the game to not be played. Maybe I should relieve some of its torment. It's the only humane thing to do...
So if you all are keeping up, you know the Version Vibrant teaser trailer is coming out tomorrow. Much anticipation is present. Comments (0) |

On Beowulf
Finally went to see Beowulf the other night, and the experience was...odd. Usually when I watch a movie, I feel an emotional pull; I either like the movie or I don't. With Beowulf, I felt nothing. I was just neutral the whole time. Oh, I tried to get into the story. Tried HARD. I just couldn't do it. And I can't really say I hated it either. It was the weirdest movie-watching sensation I've ever felt.
As for the animation, I wasn't really impressed. Most of the effort was obviously spent on Beowulf himself, with minor characters looking unimpressive. The motions looked un-natural at times; I thought they could've taken lessons from the Shrek team. Oddly enough, the animation looked best in darker setting. Go figure...
Overall, I can't say I recommend this movie. I love the old Beowulf story, but the movie didn't really do anything for me. Save your money for the amazing amount of games that are out for Christmas.
Maybe I'll start putting up more movie reviews, even some anime-related ones. I don't know (I never do). One review to NOT look for: The Golden Compass. Not going to see that movie for any amount of money. Comments (0) |

Live Action DBZ?
So should I celebrate or find a corner to cry in? There's no doubt that a live-action DBZ movie is LONG overdue, but I can't help having doubts.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE DBZ. I consider it my favorite anime of all time. However, I understand that not everything anime-related is golden (for example, the number of good anime games is depressingly slim.) The fact that it took so long for the movie to come out might actually work in its favor, though. Special effects have evolved amazingly over the years, and I think we finally have the technology to produce beautiful DBZ fighting effects. Mid-90's effects would not have produced a good-looking kamehameha!
Another concern is that eastern-based movies tend to suffer over here (I'm looking at you Dragon Wars) simply because the audiences and storytelling are so different.
All of my worries aside, I think all the right tools are in place for a good movie, and I'm looking forward to it! But WHY is piccolo the main villian?! That means no Vegeta, Super Saiyan, etc.
Well that's all from me for now, I'd love to hear what you all think! Comments (0) |
