It has come to my attention that people have the wrong idea of Goths. This bothers me, so in this post I shall clear up something’s and make some rules. The rules I list may seem familiar to some of you. You may have heard them used for other things, but they apply here too.

1. Never assume that all Gothic people cut themselves, this is false. Barely any Goths cut themselves. It is usually “Preps” 2.who do this.
3. Goths do NOT worship the Devil. This is false. People who think this should feel ashamed of themselves.
4. being a Goth does not mean wearing make up.
5. Listening to music that worships the devil does not involve being gothic.
6. Goths do not think about Death all the time
7. Goths are NOT vampires
8. Goths do not constantly think about suicide

As for wearing black clothing, that is a personal choice. Many Goths do in fact wear black; it’s just the way it is. Like how Preps wear bright colors, Goths tend to choose dark and solid colors. Black is more relaxing. Most people fail to relize one thing; Gothic Girl clothes are truly less skimpy when compared to “regular” clothing. This allows girls to feel more comfortable in clothing.

Goths are also a lot nicer then any preps. Why is this? Because in the Prep world, beauty rules all. Goths are more accepting because we are who we want to be.


"Black, Scary, Weird, Metal, Rock n’ Roll, Unique, Quiet"

"Blonde, Pink, Fake, Bright colors, Hoochies clothes, Nasty slughts, Barbie, Make-up, Mini-skirt"

Those are something’s people said when I asked them, “What three words make you think of _____?” Now, people go around ranting about how weird Goths are. Now, look at those words. Which is better? I’d rather be weird then Fake. I happen to be Weird, too. Why do preps get off so easily? I think that’s extremely unfair.

I have also noticed that a bunch of Preps are trying to pull off the Goth look. Whys this? Not even I know the answer to that. But I find it quite annoying really. What? Is it just a fashion statement to them?

Also, please do not get the wrong idea. If you like bright colors and are blonde, I do not and will not hate you. If you wear make-up, I will not hate you. Those are just something’s that remind people oh Preps. For me, I do not usually look at a person and say whether or not they are Goth or Prep. People seem to think that if you are Goth, you must wear Black. This is completely wrong. Also, why do parents hate Goths? Why do they try and “protect” their children from Goths?


Dear Parents,

I happen to realize and understand completely that you want to protect your children. But please, consider what I have stated above. By trying to make your children fear Goths, you make life hard for Goths. Each day, a Goth will be made fun of just because the other children have been told lies. “Oh, they worship the devil! Stay away from them!” “Those kids aren’t right!”

P.S. Never laugh at something without a good, logical reason. When you think about it, there never is a good reason.
