Shonen Jump: Naruto Rapid Attack Gloves

The Naruto Ninja Challenge is a game where players try to master a series of hand gestures in order to control the flow of plastic poker chip-like disks flying out of a wireless base unit. It's based on a popular Japanese comic book and cartoon series. The game comes with two gloves, though only one has sensors, two of which are located in the top of the glove and the other two are located in the palm. By touching these sensors with your other hand or against your body and building these gestures into combinations, the voice box on the glove with congratulate or admonish you. The glove communicates wirelessly to the base and so directs its movement. Get the hand signs right and the base will launch the discs around the room. If you get the sequences wrong, however, the base will turn and launch discs in your direction. Either way, you're going to be picking up a lot of these little disks. The games included are skill-level variations on making combinations during a time limit and executing specific combinations called out by the voice box. There's a bit of light assembly at the beginning and a test routine to make sure the glove is properly communicating with the base. We found it difficult to keep them in communication. This game will likely only be fun for devoted Naruto fans. It's powered by four AAA-size batteries in the glove and four AA-size batteries in the base, which are not included. Inside the box you'll find the base, a pedestal, four sheets of ice flames, two gloves and 30 disks. --Porter B. Hall
