creepy

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

It's one of the new animes I am exploring, (a tough crowd after the joys that were Karin and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) and unlike most of the anime I watch, it's a psychological mystery sort of thing. So far its really another Lain, very pretty and at some times shocking and...creepy.

I need to stop watching it at night, heh.

It hits on an interesting note of what I find to be "scary" and "creepy" being the only anime I can ever recall seeing that was actually scary.
Supernatural is oftentimes seen as scary for people, things like monsters and aliens and things not of this world.

I think the scariest things are natural things...when they act differently. Not in a whimsical way, like a flying car or something, but more of a...unpredictable way.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni has some wonderful character designs and the terror, I think, comes from seeing people switch faces like a flip of a coin. The girls have such a sinister way where their voices change, their pupils become slitted and their speech just slightly borders on insanity.

As Keiichi, the main character who has no idea what's going on is walking home at dusk, he hears a sound on the road and slides behind a tree to hide. Say a grotesque monster is seen coming down the road...not scary. But there is his friend Rena, walking slowly down the road, blank expression on her face, and a machete. He starts, his paranoia suddenly becoming a little more pronounced and all of a sudden she has caught up. "Found you, Keiichi-kun." she whispers in a monotone voice, her eyes never straying from his face. He backs away, anger and fear mingling in his voice as he demands answers to all the lies, their erratic behavior, and what they want from him. And all she does is lean her head back and laugh, the laugh of an insane person such that I have never heard before in any show or movie that so perfectly captures the idea that as much as you hope this girl isn't going to go insane and start chopping off heads...that is merely wishful thinking.

After episode four, I really don't know how this series is supposed to continue for 22 more episodes...but guessing from the rather rushed nature of the story so far, I'm guessing there will be a lot of backtracking and explanations.

I shall have lots of anime to investigate, now. *bows to Otakuins*

Well I started with Air...and ended up watching Air Gear instead. They made a Pinky:st figure of Agito from it. It's kinda like...Jet Grind Radio sans the funk. I'm intrigued, tho, it starts with some pretty tough side characters, the loser main character, and a girl who likes to get her ass smacked.

She also has a sweet hat. If I can learn to draw the hat I must fanart her.

That's about all I can remember, but everyone had goggles, too. And pink hair.

Man, that was one sweet hat.

PS We also had our first radio show tonight rather unexpectedly. It went...okay. We had an unwrapping party and played almost only crappy CDs that had never been opened before. They mostly sucked...shoulda seen that one coming.

I will make ALL OF YOU watch the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and then, after 14 episodes of genius, you'll understand.

And then, I will be vindicated. Mua hahaha

In other news, One Piece Grand Adventure has a mode where you play as Captain Usopp. Sadly, the spaces they give me to name his ship are too short to hold SOGEKING!
Sad.

Oh, and JD Person, I will take that as a compliment to my conciseness and my ability to confuse with only a sentence.

When the hell will I get back to content and not just random conjecture? I DON'T KNOW, hopefully soon. I'm sure people are tired of my crap. (No, wait, then they wouldn't want fanart anyway. Double Negative! Oh!"
