Spoon
Sort of continuing off the main subject of food from her last post, Nana will once again rant about strange and small things.

The first and most evident to Nana is the fact that soda seems to be the preferred drink with pizza. She's not talking real pizza, but Pizza Hut and store bought like pizza. Ya know, the fake stuff. It's just strange. What is it about soda that we drink it anyway? It's the same with fast food. That's all those places usually serve, exception is morning where you can get juice. Some have milk, but that's usually only bought by parents for their children.
Then there's diet soda. What's so diet about it? It still has most of the same non-diet ingredients as it's regular twin, they just switch one of the sugars with a fake sugar that is most likely bad for you. You got those people who order three Big Macs and then a diet soda. Drinking diet anything really isn't going to fix anything unless you are exercising. Even then, if you are, it doesn't matter whether you drink diet or not since your EXERCISING. Yes, exercise, the best way to get into shape. It's so simple that even a baby can do it.
Continuing on with the diet scene, there's this thing called diet juice. Now, real juice (Ocean Spray, Welches and such) use the NATURAL sugar found in the fruits to make the juice sweet since it is naturally sweet. HOW IN THE HELL CAN YOU HAVE A DIET FRUIT? Nana knows that science is coming along nicely with gene manipulation, but this is crazy. Any diet juice must be some kinda deadly concoction that will destroy us all. Nana fears for the future.

Anyway, all diet things taste like ass. Nana likes things that taste good. Which is why Nana eats lots of meat. Meat at a rare to medium rare setting.

Next up is Nana will finish her dub review of Kanon.
With the second vol the harem is complete.
Both Mai and Sayuri get screen time.
Anyone who's seen Kanon knows that Mai has few line in general. She's the soft spoken, stern type. Melissa Davis does a decent job of portraying this. Remember that all the voices will sound American and high schoolish. There are no cutesy girls. So as it stands, Melissa Davis fits as Mai and Nana is comfortable.
Next is Sayuri, played by Natalie Arneson. She's fairly new to the acting scene. As Nana mentioned in her first review, the script kept the who fact that Sayuri uses her name in place of "I". Sounds weird in English but Natalie pulls it out well. As for Sayuri's little laugh, she does a decent job with it.
Points to mention are Nayuki's blissful/sleep induced baby like talk. Jessica Boone is continuing strong in that department. Out of all the girls, Jessica Boone fits the best.

Then there's the jam, Nana so wonders what is in it.

If none of you have checked it out, Nana now has five stories in the Fanwords section. Also viewable through her portfolio. Though the storys Nana wants to pimp are not there. Things
Nana will start by saying that she will keep a blog on both VV and MyO. Though all the stories she writes will be archived on VV, she will still post them on MyO.

Next order. Nana has so broadened her seafood knowledge. She and a few co-workers went out for late night sushi and Nana finally coaxed a fellow worker into sharing two Uni (sea urchin) rolls. Now, for whatever reason, Nana has always been very hesitant about trying it. She could never say why... Until now.
When her co-worker asked the server how it tastes, the server told them, "It tastes fine. It gives you a fresh, squishy feeling in your gut."
What the hell is fresh/squish mean?
Well, Nana got the answer real quick. A few drops and a glob of wasabi later the food in question was in Nana's mouth. That's when it started. Not taking into account the Uni looked like glossy/wet peanut butter, there was something about the texture. Nana can't find any words in the human language to describe it. Just remembering the feeling as it slid, or maybe flopped, down her throat is enough to make Nana cringe. It wasn't long before the true meaning of fresh and squish belly made great sense. Nana would love to say how it tasted but even as she writes this, her body is still convulsing with ickiness.
Nana warns all who have thought about trying it. Don't ever, EVER do it. Not even for money.

On a lighter topic, Nana is in need of a short story topic. She's been wanting to write one for a while but hasn't found a suitable topic. Any suggestions?

Nana's set bet let get nees of "The World"
Nana's set up some "Worlds" on this new VV thing.
Nana's story archive
http://www.theotaku.com/worlds/nana_story

Nana's Blog
http://www.theotaku.com/worlds/nanaball

Check her if you want, though she will still post here. So no worries to those who come here.
Nana has yet to figure out the whole friends thing there so if any of you have blogs, hit me up with a link.

Now the main:

Nana is so hating the weather here. On Saturday, it was so T-shirt weather, then it snowed late that night. Next, yesterday it was warm again, then it snowed late last night too. Still snowing now.
It's not like Nana hates snow completely. When she got back from overseas and winter rolled around, she loved the fluffy white snow, then she had to drive. Nana so hates to drive in the snow. Takes too much time and people get stupid.

One might think that Nana would be used to it seeing as she's lived here all her life. Truthfully, all that means is Nana is no longer surprised. "It you don't like the weather, wait five minutes" thats what we say here.

Nana's been so busy she's back to living on fast food and TV dinners. Sucks since Nana does her best to eat healthy. She hasn't done rice in a while. Nana will so cherish her spring break.

PG-13 on VV so that means no more of...

This
and this
and this
And so on

YKK
To start, Nana just noticed there is no way to change her Avi.

Anyway...

I've always had things that I think about at regular intervals. One of them is how life moves too fast.
When did life become this race against time that seems fleeting but hasn't changed it's pace since it's beginning? We subject ourselves to daily traffic because cars are fast transportation and when that traffic is too slow we get frustrated and wish we had taken another method of transportation. Fast food, drive thru, microwave ovens, e-mail, video chat. All these things exist to make life faster and more "efficient." Yet, there was a time when none of it existed and we lived a much slower life. Why can't we do that any more?
Maybe it's just because I was born into this age of fastness that it's hard for me to see otherwise. I love TV and Video games. It used to be that people went to plays and pubs and local cafes to interact with others. Now, there's Xbox live and the like. I want to slow down, but because of my hobbies, I find it hard to.
Fast is impersonal. In the past, countries used to be a collective, now there are so many different groups that were created from this need for speed.
People are more stressed, less efficient. No one really takes their time anymore. And if they do, it's called procrastination. I am a master at that.
So what got me on this subject? Can't really say. I was reading a slice of life manga and the thought just came up. If you look at it that way, you could say that my love of slice of life stems from my want of a slower life.
A good example is when I first read Aria. The world created in there is slow, people take their time and things get done at a nice pace. After reading it, I wanted to live there.
As far as the manga that I was reading:
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou:
Volumes 1-12
The last two volumes

This series is now one of my top favorite. The pace, the stories. There is this feeling of "being there." The way things are told. If you haven't read it. Or even if you have. Do yourself a big favor and read it; loose yourself into the world on the pages.

[Edit:
I just finished the last volume a few minutes ago. It's been a long time since I've read something that left me with a certain feeling. That feeling of a end that you know was to come eventually and the longing/want for it to never end. To me, this feeling is so rare these days. Even as I am writing this, I have trouble remembering the last time I felt this. Maybe when you finish the story, you'll feel the same way.
I hope so, at least.
End Edit]

I don't know. I just get this way sometimes. This need to slow down, has always been with me. It was easier when I was younger and didn't have so many responsibilities.

To those who worried about the whole exam thing; I just felt like screaming. It really wasn't that much of a worry. Thanks for the words though.

Seeing Red
The lush, vibrancy of your red bud
Your sweet nectar on my tongue
The slow, yet lustful way I eat you
Please never go away

I dream about you endlessly
A temptress covered in chocolate
I utter your name under my breath
As though it is a sin to love you

Oh how I wish your beauty was free
So that I may covet you without loss
Be mine and only mine, let me eat you
Your juice slowly dripping from my smiling face

You are the fruit of the gods
But I will not let them have you
My sweet Ichigo, my strawberry
You are my fruit for all eternity

AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Nana Got you!!!

Nana was talking with her friend over a strawberry shake at Great Scott's and spoke of how her friends giddy feeling was due to the strawberries. Then she felt the need to write them an ode for they are goddess among fruit.

The day of chocolate and flowers.
I might be the only one, but I'm usually dispassionate about Valentine's day. Don't know why.
It has the same feeling as Christmas. People feel obligated to buy things to show love. That's just not right. The best way to show love is to show it with who you are not what you buy. You could buy all the chocolate in the world and have it mean nothing if you don't have the feelings in your heart.

Nana would go more into it but she feels it would be useless. Sad, no.

That being said, here is what Nana is going to do tomorrow. She will call up her friend, or go to her house, and say those three special words. If the latter, Nana will probably maul her friend with sloppy kisses and bear hugs till she can't take it any more. Then spend the rest of the day before school insinuating at things that they could be doing but won't because of time constraints.

A poem for the day.

White Love:

The snow falls gently on the dark ground
It's white hue tainted by the lights around
I want to play

The clock ticks slowly by
Counting the hours till I am free
I want to see

The warm blanket that covers me and my love
Holds us close and ensures we are together
I want to be

Lets say for a moment
Nana wrote this last night while she was out to dinner with a friend. It is the beginning of a story, one related to the book She is writing. Though she has no idea about the rest of the story, she does have a beginning.

***
The bright mid-afternoon sun of the late spring day beat down on the streets below, flooding the city in a heat filled haze. To say the day was unusually hot would be an overstatement; but that’s not to say the day was cool either. Anyone in their right minds would be holed up in their homes with the AC on full blast. On the roof of the tall business enterprise the sir was cooler; mostly because of the irregular breeze that was blowing. So it would seem reasonable that these two girls were standing there looking out over the city. That is, if it wasn’t for the fact that they were in middle school.
It was a weekday and the closest holiday was weeks away; yet here they were. One of the girls brushed stray strands of her deep black hair from her wide brown eyes. Her pale white skin was emphasized by the black, long sleeve gothic dress she wore. Her companion stood next to her in a white, religious style robe; the hood half covered her masked face. The mask in question was one of a white fox, like those used in certain Shinto ceremonies.
The sounds of the lunch rush whispered their way to the girls’ ears. The gothic clad girl sighed as she looked up at the sky, “Is there a reason we’re here? I’ve missed morning classes and at this rate, it would seem the rest of school as well.”
Her companion didn’t answer. She didn’t expect her to, so no loss.
“The least you could have done was find a cooler place. Like the floor below here, where there is AC.” The gothic clad girl complained.
The masked girl finally spoke, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Get over it and act your age.”
Such a statement seemed a bit out of place since it is obligatory for middle school girls to complain about the heat; that is, if they really were that young.

That's it for now

That is....
A few weeks back, Nana posted about the new season of Gunslinger Girl. Well, Nana has watched the first three eps and now will tell of her experience.

First off, it must be known that none of the original team is on this project. Not even the voice actors are the same.

This season is the Pinnocio arc that is manga vol 3-5. Also Ange is alive and kicking. She can be seen briefly in ep two. It follows the manga fairly close, deviating in a few places. Most recent is ep 3, where Triela and her handler are at a cafe having a friendly conversation.
The biggest concern everyone Nana knows has, it the fact that the art is much more cookie cutter than the beautiful stuff from season one.
Again, Nana will bring up Henrietta since she was adorable enough in S-1. From her voice work to her look, she felt more innocent than she does in the new season.
Henrietta of the first season
Now the second season

Now, in S-2, Etta sounds and looks more cute than the innocence that really made her character.

While Nana is going to probably watch the whole season, she will say this to those who are considering. Season two is passable and could get good, but if you are looking for the true Gunslinger Girl experience, stick with season one and the manga.

Though Nana gives props to Kokia and her Opening and Lia and the closing. Nana finds them really good.
Opening
Ending

Next up is the Honey and Clover Live Action. Nana loved the anime so she figured she'd check out the LA version. It is quite a different take, to say the least. One big difference Nana noticed, is Rika is not a cripple. Also the music is not the whole indie scene that the anime had. It's more strings and winds.

Then there is american TV. Last night Nana watched a movie by John August (Big Fish, Corpse Bride) called The Nines. It's a great movie, but will make you go "Huh?" once in a while. But it's all good.

In the dark
Having multiple personalities isn't so much vexing as it is just tedious. So when we are all having a conference about something, it can take a while.
That is what's going on right now. The subject on the table is what to do about the shortage of cheese. White cheddar in particular. It's not a problem as a lack of cows or milk, but more a problem of no one is making it any more. Kaede, the psycho bitch she is, wants to solve it by cutting her wrists and spraying the blood to make a point to the cheese makers. Manabi is all about fire and threats; I kinda agree with her in the whole fire thing.
And then theres, Billy Bob. No one knows how he got here in the first place but he is. It's hard to call him dumb, since that would be calling myself dumb. So the rest of us just refer to him as the "special case worker."
Once the meeting ended, we all disbanded and went back to our usual spot in the mind. As per agreement, Sally would be in charge of interaction with the outside world. She is a tomboy and thus more apt at being male than me.
The first order of business that she is to attend to, is to go to the Hidamari apts and get Brutus. Then she has to take Brutus to Nadesico Academy so he can give a lecture on sketching.
Well, nothing goes as planned in the real world.
Not to long after we left the house,we got a call from the President. Ridley was attacking the space station. Now, we don't have anything against this type of work, but any smart person knows that the only one suited for this job is Samus. But we later found that she was off with Nathan Spencer taking down some neo-nazi group.
So, we took care of the problem our way. Sadly the station did not survive, not like we care or anything. We got chewed out by the prez later that day.
