Serenity! Yayz!
So... is Myotaku not the thing to do anymore?
I saw Serenity over the weekend. Amazing. It was just as good as Firefly, which I will admit I only saw for the first time less then a week ago.
That being said, I have to rant.
Spoilers ahead! I recommend that you avert your eyes if you haven't seen the movie yet.
Damn you, Joss Whedon. Damn you. How can you do this to me? You give me a character that is awesome beyond awesome, and then you take him or her from me. First, it was my favorite slayer-in-training. Admitedly, I don't know her name.In my defense, I didn't see the episode where she was introduced. Doesn't matter, she was still the best. And she was killed! Blargh!
Then there was Fred. And Wesly. Fred moreso. Fred was cooler. But that doesn't mean Wesly wasn't. At least he got to go out as a hero. Fred got to go out possessed. For shame.
Don't even get me started on Xander's eye. That eye held the team together for 7 seasons. And it was so uncerimoniously poked.
And now, Book. Book, damn it! WE NEVER EVEN SETTLED HIS BACKSTORY! He was barely even in the movie. No more than 5 minutes, I swear. Sure, heroic death and all. But he was underused in the series, the movie should have immediately remmedied that.
I wouldn't be so upset if his backstory wasn't becoming so intriguing. Or if it had been explained. Or if he had been used.
I didn't care that much about Wash. He was little more than a sarcasm generator in the series. What ticks me off is that he had the better death, in my view. Instant. So much more dignifying.
good movie, though. Focuses entirely on Mal and River, but that aint so bad.
