Don't cha wanna share a boyfriend!? (sarcasm)
My mother has downloaded the song "Don't Cha" by the Pussycat Dolls recently and we've been listening to it on repeat.
I personally think it's raunchy and unethical. The mere subject matter of this song is distasteful.
A guy and girl are at bar and they flirt. He's in a relationship and she wants to take their "friendship" further. Now throughout the song you here the lusty side of the story told from the point of view of the girl (The Pussycat Dolls) and the guy (Busta Rhymes) but the part of the story we rarely hear of in the song is that of the "girlfriend."
Now this character I completely sympathize with. The one who has no lines or opinion in the song. One lyric that sticks out in my mind is,
"I know you like me (I know you like me)
I know you do (I know you do)
Thats why whenever I come around shes all over you
And I know you want it (I know you want it)
It's easy to see (it's easy to see)
And in the back of your mind
I know you should be home with me"

Now I believe the reason the "girlfriend" hangs all over her boyfriend is because she, like so many girls are insecure and have the need to claim something. "This is mine, don't touch." But in our society lust and temptation are taken lightly.
Another lyric that annoys me,
"Let's keep it friendly (let's keep it friendly)
You have to play fair (you have to play fair, yeah)
See, I don't care
But I know she ain't gon' wanna share (oh, oh)
Hmmmm...."

Would you want to share your boyfriend/girlfriend?

My MST:
Listeners: "OMG! That nasty girlfriend! Don't wanna share her boyfriend!! D:"
Me: "Would you want to let some other girl kiss your guy?"
Listeners: "No..."
Me: "Neither does 'girlfriend.'"
Listeners: ".....We don't really listen to the words, we like the music!"
Me: "So the lyrics seep into your brain without you knowing and that must be why you can't keep a relationship!"
Listeners: "That's different, Johnny cheated on my with a that hoe-bag Candy!"
Me: "Like The Dolls and Busta Rhymes?"
Listeners: ".........."
Me: "Well?"
Listeners: "Mind your own."
Me: "Teh winneh!"

Sorry about that little rant, it just had to be said.
