"tell us, myoga!" sabrina begged, "we have to know!"
"okay, okay," myoga said, "here goes;"
"a long time ago, there was a beutiful nameless dog demon that lived in solitude from other demons. she hated being in the company of others and that drove her into destroying things and becoming very evil indeed, while being quite powerful. this was inukasumis mother; a full-blooded demon among all demons."
"but that dosnt explain me changing in the new moon," inukasumi questioned, "or my scar on my back."
"im getting to that," myoga said, "she was so destructive and powerful that milord inuyashas father set off to destroy her. this was shortly after he had wed milords human mother and had milord inuyasha."
"get on with it, old bag!" inuyasha screamed impatiently, "what comes next?!"
"inuyasha, sit!" we all cried and he fell to the ground.
"to let me continue," myoga went on, "she and milord inutashio fought mercilessly for days on end. all the sudden inukasumis mother said this: 'i will spare you, your wife and your child if you do what i say...'"
"what?" i said impatient as inuyasha, "what did she say?! speak, man, speak!"
"sit, sana," inuyasha pushed me to the floor and held me still.
"she said... 'bear my children.'"
miroku suddenly looked up.
"i thought i had that copyrighted." he muttered as sango pushed him playfully.
"and," myoga continued, "of course milord dissagreed already have had two wives, so he fought on. but the nameless one wounded him mortaly. before she went off to attempt at killing his family, milord agreed to bear her a child to save milady and milord inuyasha. from this event was borne inukasumi, or something along the lines of 'dog of the wind' because her fathers coming and going was so fleeting. the nameless one never met milord inutashio again."
"oooo... trashy." inkenyo 2.0 whispered, "your dad sure got around."
inuyasha slapped her giving me enough time to squirm away from his grasp.
"but that dosnt explain--"
"im just getting started," myoga interrupted inukasumi, "you see, having a child softened the nameless one. she became harmless unless her daughter was in danger. then, she was merciless.
but milord inutashio did not want to loose contact with his daughter. he told me to occasionly keep an eye on her."
"you were ... almost always there for me, myoga." inukasumi said comfortingly.
"thank you... i think. anyways, this strong bond between mother and child lasted for some time. until 50 years ago."
inuyasha looked startled. "50 years ago?" he asked carefully.
"yes. you see, even though the nameless one had had her heart softened by having a daughter, she still desired power. power to protect her daughter, who was all she had. so when onigumo called out to the demons, she could not resist, thinking to gain power only turned into something dreadful: her soul had been lost and was transformed into a part of the demon naraku."
we all paused. so thats what happened.
"and thus poor inukasumi was homeless. i took her to be introduced to inuyasha so he could take care of her; she was old enough to know now. but i heard rumors that the priestess kikyo had killed him, and i went myself to find out, so inukasumi wouldnt have the shock of finding her dead brother."
"i remember that day," inukasumi said, "you told me that you would take care of me instead."
"yes." myoga answered, "i never told you of naraku, your father dying and you not knowing him was enough. i told you that your mother had died peacefully in her sleep, and lead you to the cave where you lived for 50 years. until today."
"but why do i turn human in the new moon?"
"your mother still lives... if you can call it living." myoga told her, "she is not herself, but alive. being part of naraku makes her part human... 1/3rd human, to put it in mathematics. that makes you part human too, even though you were born before then..." he paused, "it also makes you part of naraku. that is why you have that spider burn mark. it only appears on the new moon, though, and naraku doesnt know you exist."
"i still dont understand," inukasumi said with tears welling up in her eyes, "inuyasha was dead? he never told me that! and... who is naraku anyway?!"
"come," inuyasha said gravely, his hair turning white as the sun rose, "i will tell you who he is... and what he did to me."
we couldnt hear, but inuyasha told her how naraku decieved him and how evil he is.
"so my mother helped make this... this MONSTER come to life?" inukasumi said with her voice wavering, "all to gain power?"
"only to protect you," myoga soothed.
"but she ended up decieving my brother and the woman he loved... and abandoning me. she isnt a hero. shes as evil as naraku himself!"
inukasumi buried her head in inuyashas chest. both the siblings had returned to their hanyou forms.
inuyasha embraced her tightly.
"it'll be okay," he whispered gritting his teeth, "it'll be okay..."
