totally random, just had the urge to put up another post
I like lots of different kinds of music, but the kind I like to sing are the slow, celtic or irish songs. There's one from the Battlefield Band that I like to sing, but it doesn't really make much sense. I'll put it down, and I'll write it with the scottish accent. It's really fun to sing though.
THE BANKS OF RED ROSES
On the banks of red roses,
my love and I sat down,
and he's ta'en out his chairm box
to play his love a tune
in the middle of a tune
she sighed and she said,
"Oh, my Johnny, lovely Johnny,
dinnae leave me."

When I was a wee thing
and easy led astray
afore I would work,
I would raither sport and play
Afore I would work,
I would raither sport and play
wi' my Johnny on the banks
of red roses....

Johnny's met his true love
and they went for a walk
And he's ta'en out
his wee pen-knife
it being lang and sharp
and he has pierced it through
and through
the bonnie lassie's heart
and he's left her lying there
among the roses

On the banks of red roses,
my love and I sat down
And he's ta'en out his chairm box
to play his love a tune
in the middle of a tune,
she sighed and she said,
"Oh, my Johnny, lovely Johnny,
dinnae leave me."

It is very pretty song, but makes 0 sense. I suppose they didn't really "break up" in those days........ they "broke up" in a big way!!!
And yeah, I know a lot of songs like that. Just about all of them are about death. I know Standing Stones and Drumbeat and lots of others, because it used to be that I would only listen to Celtic music. I still like it, tho. And if you think i'm weird for liking it, go ahead and think that!! I still like it.
