My Hands Hurt

I've been removing weeds and grass from my dad's garden. I hate that garden. He's had a garden every summer that I remember, and I've hated it every year. I think he knows it, and that's why I think he makes me work in it.

Well, I don't have much to talk about. My current rant is basically the same as the one in the last post, so I won't waste either of our time to repeat it. Other than that, I don't really have anything to talk about. I'll post with something soon. Bye.

Edit: I now hav a blister on my hand from the garden work. Darn it.

Early Monday Morning

Sorry for those of you who have to go to school today. You'll get out soon enough. The only thing about late Sunday nights/early Monday mornings is that there isn't much on. Adult Swim doesn't run any anime on Sundays. Well, at least I saw the last episode of Trigun last night. Sure, I've seen it before, but it's good. I've seen all of the Trigun anime, and I'm working on the manga.

Wednesday, the 5th volume of the Rurouni Kenshin manga comes out. Yay. I hope I can get to it to buy it.

On Thursday and Friday, I have to go to Middle Tennessee State University to stay for a couple of days. I'm suppose to register for classes and all that. I don't know what classes I want. I still haven't turned in the scholarship info they sent to me in early April. Is it just me, or is everyone else around me more excited about college than I am? Ever feel like you're doing something supposedly good for the wrong reason? That's what I feel about college. Aren't I supposed to be going in order to better myself and to learn about my chosen career? I'm not. That is far from the reason why I am going. I'm going because everyone wants me to and because everyone expects me to. I feel like I'm settling. I settled on going to college and I settled on which college to go to. I'm sick and tired of settling with my life. I want to make a life-changing decision on my own that I want, no settling included. I've been waiting for that life-defining experience, and I still am waiting. Honestly, I feel like I'm going nowhere with my life. This is really annoying me, especially since I like to know what's going on. Well, that's enough ranting for now. I'll rant more later. Have fun commenting. Bye.

The Past Two Days

Well, I’ve had a busy two days. First, let’s start with Friday. I got up around 9:45 AM. I had to mow the front and back yards. Then, I had to go to a graduation party for my IB class. It was at our teacher’s house. It was big. It was in one of those expensive, rich people neighborhoods. It was only, two stories, but it was on this big hill. She lives across the street from a NFL player for the Tennessee Titans, but I forget whom. Most of our IB class was there, and so were some teachers. We had tacos. It was fun. Then, I went to my cousin’s graduation. She’s six months older than I am, but I still graduated first. Our family then went to a restaurant, which was crowed due to a lot of graduations that night. Finally, some of my family, mostly me and my siblings and my cousins, went to my aunt’s house to spend the night.

Today, we were swimming in my aunt’s pool. My eyes are still blurry. We also had a graduation party for my cousin and me. I got $245, and I’m guessing she got about the same. We also watched a funny home video of one of my other cousins. It was funny for us, but probably embarrassing for him. When I got home, I watched Adult Swim. Tiny Inuyasha and friends. Now there are some collector’s items. Also, I know Inuyasha isn't the brightest bulb in the bunch, but you’d think he would at least step out of the way of that sage who turned to rock. Wolf’s Rain was good too.

Thanks all for the comments. Smashing my alarm clock was fun. I've yet to get a new one, but I think my mom said that there's a spare one around. Still, I want to find one I can upload music to from my laptop. I know of a program that can sound an alarm om my laptop as a file I choose, but I don't want to keep it on all night, at least not the part of the night I sleep. Oh well. School is out, so it's not like I need it. Type to you all later.

Last Day of School

I know I graduated Monday, but in order to get the IB diploma I've been working for, I had to take these international tests. Unfortunately, one of my tests, the Spanish test, was scheduled after graduation. It was today. I took it. I'm now done. Yay!

Some of you may remember me talking about taking a sledgehammer to my alarm when I graduated. Well, since I still had to go to school, I delayed that until today (plus I didn't remember until Tuesday). Now, it's in pieces in a plastic bag in a trash can. I smashed it. It felt good. I'll get a new alarm without that annoying noise. Hopefully one that plays music. I wonder if I can find one I can download music to. I know I can get a program to make my computer into an alarm, but I don't want to leave it on all night. Well, I guess I'll go now. Type to you all later.

New Greetings

Out of the four greetings I recently submitted, three were approved. You know what that means. There's one I've got to submit again. Making greetings is fun. I don't have to draw. All I do is resize pics and add text. The writting is easy. Most of these write themselves. Go down and look at all nine greetings if you want.

Well That Was a Lot of Comments

Tahnk you all for commenting and liking my speech. I have no school now, so I'm home alone on my laptop. It's last summer all over again.

Yesterday, a local tv station was holding this "Best and Brightest" thing. All the valedictorians and salutatorians from schools throughout middle Tennessee came to the Opryland Hotel to be on TV. The hotel is beautiful. They have it set up almost like a jungle or a forest. There's even a small river for a boat ride. Well, after that was done, I went home.

Then, I had to go to the Metro City Council because all of my IB class (which has 11 seniors out of the total 380 seniors) were being put in a resolution congradulating us for being the state's first graduating International Baccalaureate class. There's another school that got IB at the same time, but they don't graduate until Friday. After that, our IB coordinator took us out to eat at this Italian place called Amerigos. It was good, and I got really full. I came home, took a shower, watched tv, and slept until 9:30 AM. It felt great.

EDIT: To those of you who have read my 3 part test run of the story I want to turn into a comic, I need a name. Could you all give me suggestions for a good name? If you need to brush up on the story, go here.

No Longer in High School

I have my diploma. I gave my speech, and it went much better than I thought. Here it is, close to how I said it:

Hello family, friends, faculty, honored guests, and most importantly, fellow graduates of the class of 2004. Thank you all for coming to this ceremony in celebration of finishing a thirteen-year-long educational career. Thirteen years, from napping in kindergarten to napping in first block. It’s been a trying experience. Now we have finally reached the goal we’ve been working for since we were five years old. All that time and effort on just one sheet of paper. It’s almost a bit anti-climatic.

Today, we are no longer high school students. We no longer have to wake up early just to go somewhere and work for hours without even being paid. Instead, some of us are going to college, where we’ll wake up early just to go somewhere and work for hours and pay for it. Others will go out and get jobs. Some may even join the military. There is an endless amount of possibilities for our futures. Throughout our lives, we’ve been learning, not just through books and schoolwork, but also through the experiences we’ve had and the examples others have set for us. We now have to use all that we’ve learned to choose the right path for ourselves. It will be hard, incredibly hard. Still, it is possible. Being in the International Baccalaureate program for the last four years has taught me that incredibly hard work is possible, especially with last-minute panic as a motivator.

Being in IB has kept me separated from many of my fellow graduates. Well, that and my tendency to keep to myself. Most of my classes have been with the same ten people for my entire high school career, and I am proud of that. I am happy to have known the other ten IB seniors and to have had some small influence on their lives. As for the many of you I don’t know as well or at all, I’ll leave you with this quotation that a friend of mine has been requesting quite adamantly that I use. It’s from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The quotation is “I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.” I don’t know many of you as well as I’d like to, but I do know that we all hope for a good future that is all our own. In ten years, we can talk about how we’re getting that future at the reunion. Until then, good luck fellow graduates of the class of 2004. May each and every one of your goals be as bright as the North Star to lead you to even brighter futures. Congratulations and thank you all.

People actually laughed at some of the funny parts. It was good. I enjoyed it, other than more than enough embarrassment. Afterwards, my family and I ate at Santa Fe. I wasn't too hungry, so I brought some home. I'm glad not to be wearing my dress clothes or gown and cap or all the awards.

We all needed tickets to get in, even us graduates. I left mine in there after practice, and if a guy didn't go out the door a few minutes after me so that I could go get them, I wouldn't have even been there. I was sure lucky that guy was coming out when he did.

Also, when walking outside, my valedictorian medal fell off the strap it was on. Luckily, some lady called me back and gave it to me. Otherwise, I would have lost it. I put it on another strap with another medal. 3 medals, 2 cords, 2 stolls (sp?) and a special tassle. Those, with my black cap and gown, made me stand out.

Well, the speech is over. The ceremony is over. The diploma is in the plaque. Thank you all for your comments. Now, I'll let you comment here too. Thanks.

This Is It

Thirteen years, from napping in kindergarten to napping in first period. This is it. Graduation day. It's about 1:30 AM now. I put finishing touches on my speech and put it on note cards. I have practice at 10 AM, and graduation is at 7 PM I give my speech around the end, so I hear. I'll post it after graduation. This is it. Wish me luck.
