Inuyasha Question

I was thinking and two questions came to mind.

1. If Kagome keeps going back in time, how come nothing she does has any impact on the future? You would think that something big would change sometimes, but everything in the future stays the same.

2. Inuyasha lives 500 years ago in the fedual era of Japan, where there are demons everywhere. What happened? Where are the demons in Kagome's time? With many demons being so strong and powerful, it's hard to see how they would just die off. Where are the demons now?
