   Envy is a GUY!!!
I went to Barnes and Noble recently and found the Fullmetal Alchemist anime profiles. I looked up Envy, and the pronouns they used for him were "her" and "she". That really pissed me off because even people who absolutely HATE Envy know that he's a guy. So, if you read the FMA anime profiles or you bought it or something, I have these points to prove to you that Envy is a guy. (warning: spoilers)

1. In Conqueror of Shamballa (the FMA movie), when they're preparing to get dragon Envy on the plane, Ed shouts, "Hold on, what are you going to do to HIM?" Even Ed, who pretty much hates most of the homunculi, acknowledges Envy's manhood.

2. In volume 4 (or chapter 13 if you read it online) of the manga, when Envy drops Ed off to 2nd Lieutenant Ross while lab 5 is collapsing, she turns to shout at Envy, "You should run too-" but when she realizes he's gone, she says, "Where'd HE go?" People who don't know what a homunculus is can easily recognize Envy as a man.

3. Anime men and women have certain characteristics. They usually have different faces and different body styles. Men tend to have "funny faces" more often, and no matter how thin they are you can always see some muscle. They also tend to have broad shoulders. Women also tend to have some kind of chest if they're above the age of 10, and show no muscle. Envy has a male styled face, a thin yet somewhat muscular body, has no chest whatsoever, and has broad shoulders.

4. (BIG SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST FEW EPISODES OF FMA I SUGGEST YOU STOP READING NOW)
Envy used to be Hohenheim and Dante's SON. The homunculus always resembles the person who they tried to resurrect. After Hohenheim tried to resurrect William Elric (Envy's former name), Envy was created, resembling William. Envy's true face looks a lot like Hohenheim and has short wavy blond hair. Homunculi, when they are created, do NOT change from the gender of the person who they tried to resurrect (so Envy couldn't be a girl). Envy hated his father so much and knew that he looked like him, so he just changed his face to the green-haired one. In the anime profile book, they did not say that Envy was their SON, they said he was their CHILD. I think they were just trying to prevent a spoiler or it was just a GRAVE mistake of the editor by putting the wrong pronouns.

5. In episode 50, Dante tells Ed about her and Hohenheim's son William. When she's finished, she says, "You could say that Envy is your BROTHER." Not sister. Brother.

I want to write to the editor of that anime profile book. Chances are, the editor didn't do a good job or they just want to keep spoilers to the absolute minimum. They kind of already spoiled the whole Hohenheim-Dante's child thing, so it wouldn't hurt to use the correct pronouns he and him and correctly say son instead of child.
Sorry if you already knew Envy was a guy, but this is just for those who took the anime profiles book too seriously.
