The Death Penalty
By Michele Iannuzzelli
The death penalty is horrible thing and needs to be stopped. Three reasons are that it costs more money to use the death penalty than it does to keep a person in prison, the death penalty can affect the family of the person being killed by the death penalty, and the death penalty has some very harsh ways to kill the people on death row.
It costs more money to use the death penalty than it does to keep a person in prison. For example, California could save $90,000,000-$92,000,000 per year if it abolished the death penalty. California also spends more money on the death penalty than it does on school. Also, life in prison would be worse than the death penalty because than the person in prison would regret doing the crime inthe first place.
The death penalty can affect the family of the person being killed by the death penalty. If the person who is going to be killed is a parent than their child and the persons spouse will be sad that their parent(for the child) and spouse(the death row person's spouse) will be killed and they would be disappointed that the person comitted the crime in the first place. If the person being killed is a child with parents than the parents will be very, very upset that their child is going to be killed. Also, if the person who is going to be killed has misunderstood a parent than the misunderstood parent will be sad that he/she won't be able to straighten things out with the person being killed.
The death penalty has some very harsh ways to kill the people on death row.
