Computer Parts

Current Mood: Somnolent
Current Music: The Offspring - We Are One

Ah, so I guess I get to finish yesterdays post today right? Firstly one other thing I wanted to say is that my highly outdated site has been moved to its new home - http://www.xnowherex.net. It's outdated but it's still itself.

The other thing I wanted to take care of was the cds I got a bit ago. 8 of the 9 cds have gotten here already, so I suppose it's high time I spent my thoughts on them.

The Offspring - Ignition - Very strong album for the band. I find it to be quite entertaining, a must have. Standout tracks are "We Are One", "Dirty Magic", and the though short, excellent "Forever and a Day"

Pennywise - From the Ashes - Their 2003 album breaks away from the trend of their previous few albums, and lets off a someone different sound for once while keeping their opinionated feel. Much of the album tends to blend together a tad too much though. Standout tracks are the opening track "Now I Know", and "Look who you are".

Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile - 2 Disks of his best work, in a nutshell. A very nice, while gritty, industrial feel throughout. It's more of an aquired taste, but with tracks like "The day the world went away" and "We're in this together" it can easily become addictive.

Iron Maiden - Powerslave A fantastic album. This is definitely proof that Heavy Metal was at its best in the 80's. Featuring tracks like "Flash of the Blade" and "The Duelists" it goes down as one of my favorite metal albums of all time.

Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Still more proof of great metal coming out of the 80's. It runs along the same lines as Powerslave and is a treasure of an album in itself. Another favorite.

VNV Nation - Praise the Fallen - Another Industrialish taste I picked up via internet radio here. I can't describe this album with words though really. Go pick it up :P

And I do believe that's enough album reviewing for now, if not too much. Onward with the post he says!

Today was a day spent doing two things mainly. For a while I was playing with graphics. I still need to complete this pages rennovations before I can start my true project, Nowhere. Other than that I spent the day browsing for computer parts.

I've finally figured out all of the parts I'm going to want to put into my computer that I plan to build. Net cost it will likely run me around 1050-1100 dollars, but that's really not a bad price. Some of these parts I already have, others are marked with a price tag.

  • Monitor - typical 17" CRT
  • Keyboard - Happy Hacker Keyboard
  • Mouse - Run of the mill ps/2 mouse.
  • Speakers - Altec ADA745
  • Case - Thermaltake Xaser - Armor Blue case ($154)
  • Motherboard - ASUS A8N-SLI ATX AMD Motherboard ($135)- complete with built in gigabit Network Interface. -- also note that its frontside bus is 2GHz due to HT :P
  • Processor - AMD Athlon 64 "San Diego", rated at 2.4GHz, has 1MB L2 Cache. ($368)
  • Graphics -Albatron Geforce 6600 PC6600Q ($112)
  • Power - OCZ ModStream 520 Watt Power Supply (OCZ52012U) ($130)
  • memory - OCZ Enhanced Latency 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin PC 3200 Dual Channel ($138)

It's quite a lot of bang for the buck, but it'll be a few weeks until I can get it. Oh well, I suppose I should probably get to bed. I'll talk to you later... and heck, maybe you even read all the way up to this part, if so congratulations and good night. (finished - 1:44am)
