*Crimson Hearts*

CHAPTER 1
Into The Darkness Of Her Heart

"No! Not that dream again! I don't want to go into the darkness!"

Her screams were futile as the dream, like before, had already begun as her head hit the pillow.

She was floating or slowly falling, she didn't know, but it was black as a moonless night.

She finds that she is glowing, a soft red glow that sparkled strangely, like the red moon in her homeworld near Hallow Bastion where its own large silver moon moved with thier smaller red one.

"Don't be afraid..."

"Who's there? Help me!" she screamed.

"Young One, don't be afraid..."

"I want my father! I want to go home!" her poor screams fell on deaf ears.

"Don't be afraid of the darkness..."

She screamed as her body jerked down in a rapid freefall. She fell with a loud thunk meaning she hit ground. Her eyes fluttered open and she finds she is on a beautiful stained glass platform. She looked around for somewhere to go but all around her was inky darkness.

"Great I'm all alone in my PJ's with no weapons." She sat down on the floor thinking, when 3 platforms arose with a rumbling sound through the stained glass.

"Choose your fate, Child of Darkness..."

Damn voice, she muttered to hreself and looked around at the platforms. There were weapons on each podium. The 1st was a gun, like her father's and gave off an air of comfort. The 2nd was a large sword, it shone like a far away star and felt like it was an old friend form far away. The 3rd was a shield that looks as if it has been through thick and thin with it's owner, it had the feeling of protection.

She instinctively went to the gun, being she knew more on guns than anything else. She found the holster a tad too big but she can work with this.

"You must sacrifice one for another..."

"Huh?" she shrugged and went to the shield next planning to pick it up, but instead it blew apart into a fine crystal. The podium started to sink below her and she jumped off. The floor around the podium shattered below and she ran to the sword snatching it before it sunk too. She backed into the center of the platform and fell as the ground underneath gave way. She had enough time to put the gun in the holster around her waist. She grabbed a piece of the shattered crystal in desperation with her right hand. It cut deep into her palm drawing blood but she held it close to her chest ignoring the pain and anticipating the fall.

"Nhh... another platform?" but this one had stairs. She pulled out her hair bandanna and wrapped the cut with it, the crystal was stuck but good in her palm.

"Look out! Behind you..."

She swung the sword down hard behind her just missing a little runt of a shadow heartless.

"Oh I'm so sorry! Come here little guy..." She cooed at the creature and it shuffled cautiously toward her. She picked it up and played with its anteannas till it trusted her.

"I would never hurt these little guys especially one so small!" she said to the voice from nowhere with an arrogance her sword master would be proud of.

She headed for the stairs again with the little heartless following her in tiny hopping and shuffling motions.

The next platform had a bright shining door in the middle of it. Its brilliance burned her eyes till she adjusted to the light, but her little friend was obviously in pain as it cowered behind her pale skinny legs and bare feet. She scooped him up and covered him with her hands and arms like a baby.

"The more you get to the light the greater your shadow becomes..."

She whipped around to find a gigantic heartless staring down at her. It reached out for her and she shot at it with the gun since one hand was still bleeding and there was the little heartless cowaring in her arm.

"Firaga!!!" she yelled as one of her bullets shot the thing and let out a huge explosion. "My dad taught me that one!" she shouted at the large heartless as it lost its balance and toppled off of the platform. She didn't wait and ran to the door, pounding on it and pleading it to open as the glass shattered once again into darkness.

"Please! I don't want to be in the darkness again!" The huge heartless's hand shot up through the darkness and grabbed her leg. She screamed at the door and dug her cat-like nails into the wood causing deep grooves in it as she was pulled down... down... down... into the inky blackness with the shimmering door floating inches from her hand and a shivering heartless in her right arm...
