MY DAY AT AOL!!! ^_^
Yesterday I went on a field trip to AOL with kids from this club called DECA. DECA is a club where you can build leadership skills and compete in competitions, where you do presentations, and all that good stuff. Anyway we went to AOL, and me and this girl where partnered up with this lady who does marketing and stuff. All we did was listen to conference calls and took notes. I thought it was so boring, and half the things the people said I couldn't understand. It was like they were talking in code. After an hour an a half of that, we went to meet the other students for lunch. AOL provided everyone with lunch, it was deli sandwiches, with chips, and a gross cookie, something with almond. After that we went into this room called a telesuite. It was totally like something out of Star Trek. There were four rows of chairs, the farther you go back you have to take a step up. There were four screens in front of us, the two on the end looked like a computer screen, and the ones in the middle we saw AOL employees from Washington. It was totally cool. Everyone introduced their selves. There were two AOL employees in the front row where we were, and one guy, I don't remember his name, who was in a band. A girl asked what his band was called, and he said, PLP. Then the girl said what's it stand for, and he didn't say anything. Somehow the employees connected the computers together, so when the guy from washington went on the internet, we saw what he was doing. He searched for "Parking Lot Pimps" and that was the name of the other guy's band. So we saw his site, well te front page of it. Then he went to our school site. After that we had to leave, but before we left we got AOL shirts and the AOL running man cookie cutter and a recipe for sugar cookies. When we were outside we took pictures with our new shirts, too. When I got home after school, I went online and seached for "Parking Lot Pimps" and got to the site. I got to listen to samples of their songs and they were pretty good. Oh the guy in the band, I think his name JG. He's really hot , or at least I think so. Well, TTFN ^_~
