Coachella gets The Kills, Lollapalooza gets The Killers.
Comment Commentary
Tony- I got past that part just now. I spent a couple of hours gaining new skills (Media for myself and Death ones for those damned Unicorns). I have offically regained genuine interest in the game.
James- Please divulge your secrets. As long as it doesn't have to do with animal sacrifice, I'm in.
Mimmi- How is that beneficial? I don't get it.
Shin- QUICK, SHIN, what was the name of the first written language?
Lea- Foolish puny states, bowing to the large states and adopting their standardized tests. Long live the California Achievement test.
Godel- We're talking about iTunes-bought files here. They call them AAC, but from what I've gathered, they're just protected MP4s.
lunox- World history rocks my socks. U.S. History makes me sleep. Mormons and their damned pilgrimage to Utah do not interest me.
--
I am getting tired of people bringing their guitars to school. I mean, when you play a musical intrument well, it only makes sense to show off your talent, but the problem is most of these people don't play well. They just play the cheap little riffs of legendary metal classics. There's one guy I can think of who plays well.. He brought an electric and this mini-amp today, and I was impressed. Technically there's someone else who's supposedly good, but she gets "shy" and never plays. Suspicious.
There's one person who just plays the Seven Nation Army riff and parts of Weezer's Undone (The Sweater Song). All the time. God, I can't listen to those songs without cringing anymore.
Not to sound elitist or judgemental or anything.
--
I tested out the new earbuds last night. They're the Philips HE592 model, I found out. They don't have amazing sound quality, though they do drown things out better than my lame-o iPod ones.
These are transitional anyway. I'm hoping to somehow reclaim my holy, amazing, immaculate Bose triports.
I miss high quality sound.
--
I'm in an artistic "funk" right now, so there won't be any Superlative Scans this week. That's really too bad.
*cough*Iforgetaboutithalfthetimeanyway*cough*
We get out of school on June Twenty-second. That means.. What, eighty-three more days, including weekends? I'm looking forward to it, though because of IB's mandatory language courses I'll have to take either Health of PE over the summer if I want an elective. That's not a bad thing, though. It keeps me occupied, first off, and it will probably help me keep in closer touch with friends. Try as I might, I just know that I won't talk to everybody nearly as much as I do when we're in school. Kind of sucks.
--
I got some spam today entitled, "Experience puberty again (the good parts)." Now I am sorry, but that just doesn't make sense. Where is the good in puberty? It's all hair and hormones and squeaky voices and acne.. I've seen some pretty sad herbal supplement advertisments before, but this is just uninspired. They weren't even trying with that one.
EDIT: I found them! I found the white White Stripes!

Grand Theft Auto: Vatican City
Comment Commentary
Lea- Hey, I wiped it up. For some reason the stench remained, though. <_<
Shin- Yeah, as "back to basics" and "retro" as they are, I wouldn't be surprised if they used.. PhotoShop 6.0. :O
Mimmi- A really big microphone?
Tony- None of the magic items I had on me seemed to have much effect. I haven't actually taken a shot at it for a couple of days.. *shrugs*
There's no decent FAQs online yet, either. Did they put out a pimptastic strategy guide for DDS like they did with Nocturne?
Godel- We don't know how to do a lot of things right, evidently.
Tony- It's repetitive, I'll give you that much.
--
Technically, my elective is a seventh grade class. The thing is, my art teacher last year became pretty attached to a few of us because, well, we were actually good at drawing. Art seems to be one of those classes where you throw in the rest of the people who don't really have anything else to do at this school. Because we were the few fragments of artistic spirit in possibly the entire school, my teacher decided to try to keep a hold of us this year, but he had no eighth grade art classes, or any mixes for that matter.
So through the magic of loopholes we all ended up as supposed 'teacher assistants,' and we just kind of sit in the back of the room, separate from the rest.
Why am I explaining this? Because of a common problem we have, being in a seventh grade class that period. Sometimes our school decides to separate assemblies by grade, and the seventh grade assembly tends to be our art period.
So we get to see a lot of assemblies twice. Today we had one of those situations- our standardized testing is coming up (I'm guessing that will gather some sort of response from Azure, what with his MCAT fetish) we were gathered to "motivate" us for the CAT6. Some guy from some syndicated radio show was there, talking about his life the entire time and how awesome his job is. It really had nothing to do with the testing. The only relevance it bore was how they have a bike on raffle for people who show up on all of the test days.
And we got to see it twice. Yipee. I played my friend's cardboard PSP half of the time.
--
The earphones that came packaged with my iPod officially died last night. The left one makes this really awful crackling sound now if you put it to any decent volume level. They were crap anyway, I don't think I'll miss them.
I went out and bought some temporary replacements.. Some Philips surround sound ones that one some sort of innovation award. It comes with a crappy little carrying case (It's not really retractable, you just kind of wrap the cord around, and it sucks) and asymmetrical cords when they split. Basically, where the cord splits into two, one earphone is a lot closer than the other. I have absolutely no idea why. I thought I got some sort of defect when I opened it, but the box says that it's for wearing convenience.
I haven't really used them yet.. But they're way more comfortable and fitting than the iPod ones. These actually go into the ear, unlike the iPod ones, which just kind of sit on the outside.
--
Actually, I'm kind of worried about that standardized test. Not the math or the language arts, really, but this year there's a history section, taking questions not only from this year's stuff (which isn't a problem), but sixth and seventh as well. Try as I might, I can't remember half of the sample questions my history teacher has been throwing at us. I know the answers, I just don't know them, you know? It will probably be easier when it's actually multiple choice. She made us just guess anything.
--
Weta put up the Evangelion concept art they've had for, like, a year, and they fixed the naming problems that pissed me off so much. Rei is no longer Ray, and Asuka is not Kate Rose. They've provided captions this time (they were on the DVD, technically, but next to impossible to read), and they're not really that enlightening, but it's nice to see they're making progress, though the project is apparently "on hold." They actual put out one concept that I don't remember being on the DVD, of an angel that resembles a zombified Eva.
*shrugs* They'll probably scrap the project halfway in. It's still nice to see different interpretations of things, though. That's why I like cover songs and remixes so much.
Hm, this is a rather abrupt ending. Oh well, you'll live.

Pluh?
Comment Commentary
Mimmi- Yeah, if I were actually telling this story to someone in person, my level of political incorrectness will be staggering.
Shin- Who said I was disagreeing with you? The >:O face? I think not, sir.
Tony- I know this sounds pitiful, but was there any particular method you used to beat it? I've noticed Mudo is a Unicorn weakness, but I have yet to discover the weakness of Jinana herself.
--
I spilled chocolate milk in here earlier.. I sat it on the desk, and absentmindedly turned the swively chair around, knocking the glass over in the process. I cried for a moment, but the mourning period is now over, and I've moved on.
However, the room still reeks of chocolate milk, and though chocolate milk is great in small doses, I can barely handle the smell in here anymore. It smells as if it's soured a little.. Ew.
--
I was browsing around today and realized, after visiting a couple of White Stripes-related sites, that the first single off of their new album came out today. Initially I didn't plan on getting it, but I listened to the sample on iTunes and got hooked. I now have it in my posession, and in the six hours I've owned it, I have listened to it eleven times.
Go me.
The cover still confuses me, though.. Last time I checked, Jack and Meg were pale, not dark.

Harumph.
Comment Commentary
Mimmi- I still can't believe how suggestive that show was, considering what time of day it was on. I'm sure that half of it went right over my head at that age, too.
Shin- I actually have that game. And it's not half good. >:O
Mimmi- I remember the movie.. It had some good songs, but nothing can beat the song of state capitals.
Lea- OR DVDs. *shakes fist at Time Warner AOL BLAH BLAH BLAH incorporated*
Ken- That sketch always was my favorite.
Godel- It's already sliced. God, get your mind out of the gutter.
Shin- No you can't. Stop lying.
--
I'm actually doing a real drawing right now. I've just been doing the stupid sketch kind of stuff.. But I'm enjoying this one. I'm hoping to ink it and put it on DeviantArt.
--
We played football today, against a team that actually had the will to play.
Additionally, there were, uh.. How to put this in a politically correct manner. Two tall African American males on their team, so I lost morale pretty quickly.
o_O Was that okay?
Anyway, somehow we still owned them, which just proves that our short, nimble little Mexican triad is superior to the forces of the..
Gah, nevermind. I've probably already pissed off half of the Californian population. I won't go any further.
--
According to Digital Devil Saga's timer, I've only played for six hours. That is absurd, though.. I know that I've played for longer than that.
But somehow I'm still stuck on the Citadel boss. Damn those unicorns.
--
I don't remember if I've mentioned this before or not, but I am often stuck typing up my brother's crap. Well, this project he's doing right now is like that, but as always, Microsoft Word isn't working for us.
"This report includes: information regarding the condition of Microsoft Word when the problem occurred; the operating system version and computer hardware in use; your Digital Product ID, which could be used to identify your license; and the IP address of your computer.
We do not intentionally collect your files, names, address, email address or any other form or personally identifiable information. However, the error report could contain customer-specific information such as data from open files. While this inofrmation could potentially be used to determine your identity, if present, it will not be used.
The data that we collected will only be used to fix the problem."
Etc. Etc.
It's done this for a while.. It opens Word, says that there was an internal error and that it had to close, then that pops up. If you follow the link they supply, it tells you to update.
When I try to update, the Office Updater never makes it past 10%, and then Internet Explorer, too, has encountered a problem. Sorry for the inconvenience my ass, Microsoft. I know you do this just for kicks.
So yeah.. I don't know what to do about that. Help is appreciated.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go draw my weird, underfed, Auschwitz prisoner-looking pald guy with a mask and a blanket on a light box. Adieu.
EDIT: I took a nap starting at 5, and woke up at nine. When I go to sleep during the daytime and wake up at nine, I always kind of freak out. I was so tired today, however, but I had an interesting inner monologue anyway.
"..Dammit, is it time to go to school already? It's dark, after all.. Just like when I wake up. Oh well, at least I know it's not five minutes before school, otherwise it would be light outside. ..Hey, why's my brother awake? And why is he singing at the top of his lungs? God, did they not wake me up for some reason? Oh well, if it gets me out of school..
May as well check the clock. 9 PM?
..
Oh, right. Nap."
I find my half-conscious self to be a humorous idiot. I wish I could have conversations with that other part of me.

Lugubrious drollery!
Comment Commentary
Tony- Those things depend on the actual concert hall, though, right?
Mimmi- The white border's been there since the days of White Striped yore. :P
Tony- *nods* Where were the concerts held at? Some place big, I assume?
Azure- I began unraveling the secrets a couple weeks back.. It's fun.
Shin- :'(
Azure- Says the man with the pastel bishoujo avatar.
--
So yeah, we got the tickets today. We're in the sixth row, right at the center aisle (there's the standing room before that though.. It's not like we're right up next to the stage or anything). Jubilation.
And now, sleeping.
EDIT: They're making an Animaniacs game. Now, if only they'd bring back the actual show. *sigh*

I'm entertaining the prospect..
Comment Commentary
Mimmi- I still think it would be funny if he actually did it himself and is denying it.
Shin- Y-You mean you've been visiting other forums? I'm sure OB feels so used.
Also, there are lots of conflicting stories about what exactly happened. The variation I heard was that he cut in front of him in the snack line or something like that.
Ken- I wonder what would happen if Mario ate two Super Mushrooms.. OD or crazy high?
--
Yeah, in case you didn't notice, I changed my layout. The colors were inspired mostly by the Von Bondies (which is a totally awesome band), but I don't know why I went with techno/rave stuff. I suppose we'll just leave that to historians to deliberate for centuries to come.
So yeah, feedback, please. I know the pink is bright, but after staring at it for about an hour my retinas adjusted.
Actually, I've been on a Von Bondies binge for the past couple of days. Their songs are really fun to play on the guitar.
--
My dad's assumed the role of head advertisey guy at his workplace, and he runs their booth at the local Poppy Festival (state flower, blooms around this time of year). My brother pitches in with balloon animals and entertaining kiddies, for some reason, and I don't know what my mom does, but he forced me into making printable Photoshop stuff for his 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk, which he ties into this whole ordeal.
He wanted the logo and a pink ribbon, which was easy enough. All of the images I could find were really small, though, so I kind of had to redo the logo from scratch, which wasn't hard, considering it's pretty much all text.
The pink ribbon was a good chance at messing around with the pen tool, though. Vector art rocks my socks, and I'd like to learn how to do it, but I need as much practice as I can.
Because the pen tool hardly makes any sense.
Anyway, I had to print out a ton of them, and it sucks, because I ran out of ink. Supposedly, I get payment for this, but I don't think that'll happen.
So yeah, the actual thing started today, and everyone went and had a merry time, but I decided to stay home. I pretty much stayed on the computer the whole time, which was mixed with doing the dishes and practicing the guitar more. God, I suck at that, with my frail little girly fingers.
Still, though, it's nice to have some solitude. I want to live alone, just to see how it's different.
--
I get this anime catalogue in the mail quarterly.. It's probably something I accidentally signed up for at Anime Expo one year. I never really buy anything off of it, but I like skimming.
It has a hentai catalogue, too, which I find funny. Hentai's just so stupid.. Even more unrealistic and campy than regular porn.
--
I'm ordering the Pixies concert tickets tonight.. Altogether, we're going to have five people there. My dad, three of my friends, and myself, but I'm not paying for anyone else's way. Unlike the Weird Al concerts, I'm making sure I get to keep some of my damn money this time.
According to what I just looked at, the best seats available are Mezzanine Row E, which kind of sucks, but it's better than nothing. Let's hope they're not gone by the time I find my dad's credit card.
EDIT: My parents decided they want to discuss the matter with everyone else's parents before buying the tickets.. It makes sense, but I'm still paranoid the tickets will all be gone by then. It's kind of unrealistic, but still.. They've been out for four days, and they're already half sold out.

8-Bit Slaughter
Comment Commentary
James- I dunno.. There are other kinds of naps. Hint hint.
Tony- I went in Best Buy solely to look for it, and I really didn't expect to see it, but there it was. Two of them, actually.
Godel- I have no other posters. Shame.
lunox- I never saw it. :)
Shin- Yes, I horde naps. My secret is out.
--
Looks like Azure's myOtaku account has been suspended because someone got on his user name and sprayed hentai all over it. So, may your hearts be with him, and may he return soon.
--
Death seems to have hit my school again, though in a less direct way. Apparently, there was a kid at a local baseball park who hit another kid over the back of the head with a baseball bat, and he died. The guy that killed him was charged with murder today and blah blah blah.
Well, bottom line is, last year the kid that died was an eighth grader at my school, and his name was Jeremy. Jeremy happened to be tall and white with bleached hair, and was the bullying type.
He messed around with me a lot in the first couple months of my seventh grade year. So, yeah, I feel a tad bit connected to the situation than just any random person who saw it on the news. It's not like I'm a bad person (in this situation) and have some sort of bloodlust against this guy, but I do think that it wasn't entirely the killer's fault, and that Jeremy somehow provoked him into doing it.
--
My brother's playing Super Mario Bros. 3 on the SNES All-Stars version. I'm actually kind of impressed with his reflex skills in this game.. Normally he doesn't play games much, but he seems to have a knack for oldschool Mario.
Not much else to say. It's the weekend, and I'm not doing anything. My friends went to the mall, said they'd call me.. Obviously, they didn't, and that's why I'm here. I wasn't really desperate to go, but it's times like these I..
Nevermind.

Gah, I must type with my right hand.
Comment Commentary
Shin- Well, unlike some people, I don't have the determination to do that.
So there.
Lea- I don't like the look of that ">.>".. Are you not telling us something, missie?
Tony- No, I don't go there every day. IGNMusic really does suck.. But the White Stripes thing was on the IGN main page, and that's how I knew about it.
I don't really look at any real music news sites (outside of specific band pages).. I don't really know any, come to think of it.
Godel- That reminds me, our class trip is coming up.. Not that anyone's going. $2000 for Washington, DC? No, everyone's too "financially troubled" *coughLAZYcough* to cough up the cash.
I would have gone if anyone else was, but they're not.
--
Well, aren't I just full of music news these days. They just announced a Pixies summer tour, and one of the shows (two, actually, in one night) is in LA. I'd love to go.. But we'll see if it's possible.
--
School's been up-and-down lately. There's been clashes between friends, assholism and stupid math mixed in with some surprisingly fun stuff.. But for the most part, I dislike it. I have to learn to adjust to these things better.
Other things have been cool, though. For example, art's been more "fun" recently. Instead of everybody else sitting there and writing notes to each other they've been doing work, which results in more talking. Which is good, because it sucks listening to their conversation fragments. The spoken parts, I mean.
Yesterday someone brought acrylic paints in, and did a pink elephant. I then made a house with a smiling sun and a tree and a birdie in true four-year-old fashion and that was expertly painted by another person.
It ended up as a big vomit-green/blue blob with a phallus sticking out somewhere.
(We also had a wookie-drawing contest today.. The results were horrific.)
--
I really have gotten nowhere in Digital Devil Saga. I'm still in the Citadel, heh.. Pretty sad, considering that that is the first "real" dungeon. I haven't been playing it much, for some reason.. I don't know what I'm doing instead of playing games. I guess I've been taking naps.
Seriously, though.. That was a kickass nap today. I remember the greatness, and I was unconscious.
That Sin City poster I got still isn't up in my room.. We're probably going to repaint it sometime soon. It's kind of childish, and all of the walls are covered in stuff so that there's no place to put it. Part of that is the bunk bed, and once that's gone, I'll have an entire damn wall to hang my crap up on.
I would really like to get a decent amount of sleep tonight, so I think I'll get right on that. Later, people.

Ask not for whom the ping lags..
Comment Commentary
Mimmi- Mm, buns. They always make everything better.
Shin- It's on at, like, 1:30, man.
Alea- Yeah, but I want this money to be on something really special.
Keiko chan- Yeah, I know. 8)
--
I saw the Pixies DVD in Best Buy today, and quickly snatched it. For the sake of rant avoidance, I'll just leave the summary at "it rocks my socks," and I didn't even recognize any of them when you compare them to how they look today. It's hilarious, man.
Anyway, the concert was good (though lacking in Doolittle and Trompe Le Monde tracks because of its timeframe), and the videos were decent (Debaser rocks my socks in particular), though the documentary bored me. Bunch of British people rambling on about how much they love the band.. It's not my blog, people. GOD.
In other music news, I just saw some article on IGN about the new album from The White Stripes. According to them, the album's name is "Get Behind Me, Satan," which I think is an incredibly suggestive name. They also put up a track list:
1. Blue Orchid
2. The Nurse
3. My Doorbell
4. Forever For Her (Is Over For Me)
5. Little Ghost
6. The Denial Twist
7. White Moon
8. Instinct Blues
9. Passive Manipulation
10. Take, Take, Take
11. As Ugly As I Seem
12. Red Rain
13. I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet)
So yeah, I'm excited. I don't know how they're going to go about trying to top Elephant, but I'm optimistic.
Nothing else to report. I'll check back in tomorrow.

Comment Commentary
Lea- Yes. Yes, it does. *abruptness*
Shin- Funny thing is, I never beat Metal Gear Solid 3. That's why I'm replaying it, actually.. To find a very special camo that proves helpful in the final boss fight.
Godel- Or an underachiever.. Which in this case, is an average achiever, right?
--
Today's time span went in an odd manner. School went by quickly, but I realized just a little while ago how I felt like it was Saturday.. What I mean is, I've been sitting here since 2 doing anything I feel like doing, and though that's often the case (I often feel bad about my lack of homework), the actual amount of time seemed larger than usual. I wonder how time moves for other people in relation to myself.. But the bitch about that is, I'll never know, will I?
--
I watched the Cowboy Bebop movie today, which is funny for a few reasons:
a) I've only seen two episodes of the actual series.
b) It's a crappy copy my friend let me borrow over a week ago. You know, the kind for "personal use only." The quality sucks.
c) It's taken me four sittings to watch the entire thing.
It was good, definitely.. But all it really made me want to do was buy the rest of the series, which is bad for my wallet.
Technically, I have $200 sitting up in my room right now, but I'm saving them for an occasion I can't predict. Lord knows what I'll eventually spend it on. I just want it to be something useful and functional, and not random crap like anime DVDs or games.
But I guess it's best to not dwell on it. I'll know what to spend it on when I see it.
I went out and got the mail today, which contained a rather crappy issue of Entertainment Weekly and my report card. It was all A's, although my PE teacher gave me an A- with "satisfactory" citizenship. Honestly, because it's PE, I don't give a shit. If it was something like History, or Math, maybe I'd be going all emo on your asses right now, but I just don't like playing with balls.
Speaking of which, we're doing football right now (which is one of the more entertaining sports, the way I see it), and today we totally owned this seventh grade team. You see, the team consisted of slackers, chatty females, one aggro kid and some geek that was trying solely for the grade. It's a common thing for older players to basically mess around the entire time they're playing younger ones, because there's no real challenge there. Eventually, the little aggro kid got pissed off at the insults and everything (I wasn't involved in it), and just started calling everybody "fucking gay," which is funny because the guys that were doing the insults pretty much are.
I can tell this is going to be one of those "down" weeks, because I'm in one of those self-loathing moods that I so often fall into. I'm not going to go on about it here, because you don't want to hear about it, but if I'm in a more cynical and bitchy mood when you talk to me (more than usual, anyway), that's why.
..It is for who we play.
