Oh, you silly Methodist.
Comment Commentary
Mimmi- B-But it sucked.. Badly!
Sara- An occasional, well-placed pun isn't so bad, but that one.. *shudders*
Solo- It was just one of my incoherent late-night rants.. But thanks anyway. :P
Shin- And you should! God, people these days..
Godel- Whoa, whoa, whoa.. Hold on a minute. Bad grammar?
Alea- Tsk, indeed.
--
Feh, I'm almost out of these Keebler Toast and Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers again.. I swear, we got two cases of them last week, and I've already plowed through them all. They're just that good.
--
I ended up going over my five-paragraph essay again last night. As I mentioned the other day, I needed to copy it over into a spiral notebook.. It didn't really take long, but I ended up fixing a few things.
It's amazing how my English teacher can turn into such a hardass when it comes to essays. Normally she's rather easy to sway, but I'm starting to get worried about writing this year. We've been reviewing essays in front of the class, and nobody has achieved over 75% yet. It's crazy.
--
In History, we normally copy our notes from transparencies put up on the overhead projector. Today, however, the teacher read from this seven-page article about The Great Awakening. We got to page four, and as interesing as the material covered was, I got incredibly bored. History tends to be one of my favorite classes, but I could hardly handle it today.
There's a math test tomorrow. After seeing a quiz grade from a week ago, I was rather worried, but I understand what I was doing wrong now.
Am I going to say what I was doing wrong? No, because Azure is going to say "Oh my God, you're still on that? LOL". And you know how much I care about his opinion. *rolls eyes*
I got, like, three goals in soccer today, but it's still lame. Even though we were given new teams today, I ended up with the same people. It's sort of annoying because a kid (a friend of mine from third grade) kept calling everybody "border hoppers" to try throwing them off. Last week it was a little funny as it was meant to be, but by now it's just annoying.
Oh, another thing about PE: this crazy punk guy's always messing around with this one girl. Chasing her and stuff, you know? Again, it was sort of cute at first, but she's still yelling "Aah, Robert!" every time he does something. Wouldn't she be desensitized to it?
I actually spoke up about something in journalism today. The "popular girls" are "doing" the "Volleyball pages," and as expected, it was full of star-shaped pictures. It was good, I suppose- better than most layouts last year- but a little conference was held and I discussed the theme, and how we need consistency.
I know I'm not a very good speaker. Generally, I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words, and I talk with my hands a lot. Sure enough, a couple guys snickered a bit as I talked. That was a little angering, but no biggie.
Is it wrong of me to want consistency in a yearbook? Last year, the entire thing was all over the place. The way I see it, if we're doing my cover, we're going to do the rest my way. It's not like I would be opposed to suggestions (Lord knows I've taken them before), but I refuse to have people see the cover, then see the bubbly font inside. It's not right, dammit.
People oppose order. What the hell?
--
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is supposed to come out tomorrow, and I am giddy. The reviews have been pretty positive (though not as good as I had hoped), but again, it's not really the gameplay that I'm excited about. The story and visual style are what drew me to it in the first place.
..Ugh, and now a headache's getting to me. I'm going to have to cut this short.
Teh SillyCircus Day 56- "I'm an edgy Flash artist, because I made a George Bush cartoon."
EDIT: Anime News Network says:
New Saikano Projects in Japan
According to Shin Takahashi's website, a new live-action production of Saishuu Heiki Kanojo (She, the Ultimate Weapon) is in the works. Tentatively scheduled for 2005, Aki Maeda is cast as the protagonist. In other news, Shin Takahashi also announced that two volumes of a new Saikano OVA are scheduled for a Spring 2005 release.
When will the live action adaptations end? Seriously, if they ever touch .hack..

A major in world domination, minor in human relations.
Yesterday's Comment Commentary
Mimmi- *is leaning toward DS, but still isn't buying either of them* :o
Shin- *stabs 4Kids some more* My God, they suck.
Alea- Exactly. I wouldn't care if I didn't read the One Piece manga.. But I did. It's not my favorite manga ever, but I think 4Kids did more of an injustice to Shaman King.
Mal- That is weird. Occasionally I'll have a dream and have a sense of familiarity with it, but it's never an exact replica.
Solo- On a Rail took forever. It was interesting in parts, but I lost my rail car halfway through and had to walk it. That sucked.
--
Lame Rant Comment Commentary
Mimmi- I'm a missionary of insomnia. :D
Alea- Not really. o_O
Shin- Eh, around here, the morning is grumpy.
--
I apologize for that.. Rant, or whatever you would call it. It started out as a little experiment in short essays some people do on their mO's, but I don't think it really did the "genre" any justice.
The real reason I did it, though, was to ensure that I would have an update done for today. We're going to Santa Monica to pick up my dad in an hour, and I have no clue when we'll be back.
Other than that, I have jack shiite to talk about. Let's hope these collective posts counts.
Teh SillyCircus Day 55- You're just kidding yourself, you goat!
Oh my God, I've resorted to puns..

Ergh, lame rant. Ignore.
I like midnight. Once everybody else has gone to bed, and the house is quiet, the only light source in the room is the pale, faint glow of the monitor. It's a time where I get introspective, more serious, and less distracted by everything else.
I feel as if I can be myself more in the twilight hours. Perhaps the darkness implies isolation, relieving the pressure that I feel from external forces. It makes me feel calm and aware.
Talking to people at this time is also better. I think that many other insomniacs feel the same way about it all. Everything is loosened, and in its own way, intimate.
People calm down at night- it's just our way of functioning. Once the mind is calmer, happiness follows. It's not the hyper, energetic happy that one may feel with the sun's rays on their bodies, though. It's a more calmer, more mellow happiness. Serenity is another name for it.
And yet we're forced to do most of our business during the day. The time when the fickle, uptight side of humanity comes out to play. People seem to be so different during the day- I've talked to many people who act entirely different at midnight, compared to noon.
Kinder. That's the word I'm looking for. Consideration. The strongest bonds I have formed in my entire life have been made at night. The greatest conversations, the most beautiful moments, the strongest emotions. That is why I love midnight.
And no, I'm not a goth.

Once I find a reason to be, I am so out of here..
Comment Commentary
Shin- I'm surprised at what my brother comes up with. He spent half an hour playing around with a box and the end result was hilarious (though a little played out).
Godel- I have a lot of responses like that, but I never say them because I'm always afraid of them being as tough as they act.
Mal- Overall, I'm enjoying it, but any asshole like that can ruin it for about a week, heh.
Mimmi- I rock, 'cause Mimmi said so. :}
--
I had a dream the other night that I got a PlayStation Portable out of nowhere. It was one of those dreams where nothing is really all that detailed. Just the stuff that mattered was in it. The rest was blank. I don't even remember what game I was playing (probably Metal Gear Acid), but just having it my hands was cool. It sort of sparked the old flame that I had for PSP, but I still don't intend on buying it anytime soon. None of the games look interesting other than maybe Acid, and I'm not going to buy a $200 handheld just for one game.
The same goes for DS still. Even though Project Rub (or I Would Die For You, or Feel the Magic or whatever they're calling it this week) is interesting to look at, it looks like it just boils down to "Look at what the DS can do!" They do that with a lot of launch titles, though.. I'm expecting great things, though, especially from the first person shooter genre.
--
I played Final Fantasy X for the first time in a while today. A month ago I left the party stranded in the temple where you get Yojimbo, but I didn't have enough money to get his services. At the time I didn't feel like going back through that cavern full of Tonberrys and other difficult creatures. Last night, however, I was bored so I decided to pick up the game and get out of there.
You know, I forgot how fun that game is. The battle system rocks so hard, and I let it go. How silly of me.
I'm rather surprised that I'm almost to the Zanarkand Ruins already.. Please tell me there is going to be a lot of backtracking, because I've only been playing for twenty-five hours.
--
Ooh, iRiver just released a new Hard Drive MP3 player. Same amount of storage as the model I was looking at beforehand, but it has an LCD screen. It's the same price as the other one, too, which I find a little suspicious. Perhaps the site just has an error..
You know, that's something that bothers me. Professional sites that many, many people look at, with great products, and yet their site doesn't keep up the pace. Viz's site is a prime example. They've been using the Saikano volume two GN cover for the second Saikano DVD image for several weeks, and just now they have fixed it. The fourth DVD is practically out- you'd expect the company that does the work to know what they're selling looks like.
Such a shame. *shakes head*
--
I watched some more of One Piece on FoxBox this morning. From what I had seen of the first episode, I didn't think what they had done to the series was really that bad, aside from the dub. This episode, however, was Luffy's backstory. Predictably, alcohol was changed into a non-threatening substance- orange juice- and all of the guns had little corks on them as if they were pop guns.
When the one mountain bandit got "shot" in the head, Shanks said this (in his god-awful Irish voice):
"When he wakes up, tell him it was a cat."
Or something like that. I didn't really catch the last half of the line, because I was too busy scoffing at the waking up part.
It was to be expected, though. I think 4Kids butchered Shaman King more, but Shaman King had more that was "controversial and bad for eight-year-olds." One Piece has always had a lighter tone to it, so 4Kids didn't have to do as much.
The only strong point of the dub: Roronoa Zolo (He's Zoro, dammit). He's the only one that doesn't sound like any typical anime character voice. He's individual, and he sort of sounds like a real person, and it works. The rest of it makes me want to go light 4Kids headquarters on fire.
..More than before, anyway.
Teh SillyCircus Day 54- Oh my God, I'm running out of witty closings and openings..
EDIT: Oh, a funny little FFX story for you all. I was fighting a band of creatures using Lulu, Auron and Wakka. Wakka got confused when he got hit by their Seed Cannon, and I didn't really bother remedying it. I was so close to killing them all anyway, there was no possible way he could do anything that drastic.
Well, he did. Lulu took a major hit from the enemy, Wakka threw his Blitzball at her, and she fell. Auron, too, was confused, so he didn't do anything on his turn. Wakka attacked him, and he shattered (I've had him equipped with Stonetouch throughout almost all of the game). He then had another turn, attackedh himself, and shattered. It was sort of funny, but I didn't feel like doing any more at the moment and I went to bed.

I had a nice title earlier, but I've forgotten it.
Comment Commentary
Mimmi- *eats the waffles*
Godel- My dad handles most of the crazy public events endorsed by the Honda dealership he works at.. It's embarrassing to watch him lure people into the booth like some sort of carnival barker.
Mal- Last year all of our writing was entirely creative / outlineless, so I guess I got softened up.
Shin- The same goes for reading. It's a thousand times more fun when you're not restricted.
Arcadia- I guess I have similar symptoms, if you take out sad and replace it with homicidal.
..Wait..
Alea- Heh, it's nice to think he does charity when you don't consider how it takes up all of his time off, which could be used for.. Oh, I don't know. Calling customer support and getting the freaking scanner to work.
--
Overall, school was sort of sucky today. It turns out that the essay was supposed to be in our little folders instead of on a separate sheet of paper, which sort of angered me. Now I have to copy it all over..
In History we apparently learned about statistics and how to make them yesterday, and big projects were due today. I rushed a final version which looked like crap, but then I found out the teacher gave me another day to do it.
At lunch, my friends and I always sit by this tree off to the side of the allowed standing space, under a nice tree with cool grass. At the beginning of the year I sort of drifted between them and another set of friends on the other side of the yard. Soon enough, I settled with the tree people, but today one of the people from the other group came over. The rest of them sort of followed, and the tree people drifted over to the grass. Our territory has been infringed upon, and I am sad.
We got our school IDs in Phys Ed today. The coach called off the names of the people, and commented on all their pictures. For the most part, they were rather positive, but with the people he really liked to mess with he tore them apart. When he camed to me, he referred to me as "buddy," which is what he tends to call the special ed students. Maybe because I'm the only person in the freaking class who isn't loud and obnoxious, he figured he should sort of treat me differently, but it was awkward.
And then he pulled out a Harry Potter joke. I'm not lying when I say my right eye was twitching violently as I walked up to get it. In retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have been so angry with him- it seems everybody has to do it once.
My picture came out okay, I guess- better than most of mine. I remember spending a good ten minutes smiling in the line, envisioning what it looked like. Last year I looked tired and, quite frankly, stoned. This year I just look like a surly drunk, which I a step up.. I think.
We then had to run for ten minutes, but I took a second to put my ID away. The coach then called me over and asked my why I always "have that look on my face." I don't think I gave a real answer, other than that I "always look like that." He then proceeded in asking me what I do. Writing and drawing. He asked if I had any drawings on me, I said no. He said that if I showed him any I would get out of the running, and I said that I had a folder full of drawings from the summer.
I suppose I'm rather lucky that I was expecting to get Art this year. The day before school I stuffed a bunch of my over-the-summer drawings into a folder to show my teacher.. Of course, I got Journalism instead, but I never bothered taking out the folder. He asked why everybody's "all into the Yu-Gi-Oh style these days." He also asked "what's with all the violence," but he's one of those "cool" teachers who really doesn't give a shit if there's a little slapstick/R-rated gore.
"Once you find something you're good at and you like to do it, you should stick with it. That's my saying."
I think he was just trying to cheery me up or maybe try making me feel like I belong. More than anything, I think it was just a little awkward, but whatever.
The newsletters were printed yesterday after school, apparently. They were copied in black and white at Staples, and I must say they came out horribly. All of the pictures are practically a mysterdy- the only thing visible in the picture of the VP was the man's shirt. It's depressing.
Oh, and the Principal made us take out the Resident Evil: Apocalypse review because it was rated R along with the Advice Column "because it deals with relationships." He also shut down the Teen Pregnancy article a while back. That I can understand, but not shooting down a review because the film is Restricted. It's not like the review was even detailed enough to be vulgar- articles should be removed based on their content, not the movie or television show discussed, unless it's explicit.
Someone broke me off a piece of their Kit Kat bar, though. That was nice, but I still came out of school with a rather sour mood. A good phone conversation turned out to be the remedy, though, and I have maintained in an overall cheery mood since then.
While everybody else is at a large, practically record-breaking meeting at the mall, and I sit here complaining about how I couldn't go because I couldn't get a ride. As cool as the times I go to the mall are, it seems that all of the ones I miss are the ones where everybody says "Oh my God, you should have come! It was sooo cool!"
--
Why are people so stupid? Today I was just walking along quietly, minding my own business, as some guy pulled my backpack back, giving me some minor whiplash, and said something along the lines of "I ought to beat the fuck out of you, fucking white boy." I didn't turn my head, pretended they didn't exist, and went on. Nothing happened, it just pissed me off.
I've done the lame rants about motivations for people like that before, so I'll spare you all a repeat. It just feels right to tell somebody about it.
--
My brother makes short films as a sort of hobby. A few years ago, when we got a new video camera, he and I did a whole bunch of humorous sketches- the most notable being the Happysville Incident, in which we took our mom's little miniature Christmas town and turned it into the scene of a great tragedy.
For fourth and sixth grade kids, I think we did a good job with it. We set up a little track to roll the camera along, to get a nice, even pan, and it was positioned so it looked like the train was coming at the screen. The next day we then set up a table so that it wasn't in the shot, had my brother stand in the street, jump offscreen in a last-ditch effort to escape, and run the train by. I find it hard to explain.. But if you ever saw the guy in UHF get run over by the train you'll sort of get the idea.
He recently brought the hobby up again, mostly through claymation, and I haven't helped much. I demand too much power when I help, and it causes conflicts. It's still sort of cool to see what he comes up with.. Today I helped him with background music for his faux fashion show (Battle Without Honor or Humanity from Kill Bill, Eye of the Tiger from Rocky, and Glassjaw's Tip Your Bartender."
I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being a filmmaker, or at least entering an independent film to some sort of film festival.
*thinks for a minute*
OH MY GOD MY BROTHER'S GOING TO MAKE THE NEXT PULP FICTION!
Heh, I'm kidding. Most independent films suck, anyway.
Teh SillyCircus Day 54- Ooooh, I said "shit." I'm telling the teacher on myself.
EDIT: ..I can't even tell if this is a positive review or not.

*evil cackling*
Comment Commentary
Shin- ..Okay, you win. o_o
Godel- *caps you*
Shin- Hells yeah.
Alea- We had it too, but scooting around on your asses..?
Solo- Yes, they do. They do, indeed.
--
I'm at home right now, at 10:30 AM.. My parents decided to keep me out of school today because they were going to have to take me out anyway- my dad's big 3-Day walk for Breast Cancer begins today, and we have to go down the coast for the opening ceremonies.
My father's been doing this for three years now. The first two times he basically sat around waiting for donations to come in, but this year he went nuts. Radio promotion, television promotion, seminars, the works. He got close to $5,000 this year, which was technically his goal, and most of the time people get around $2,000.
Today is their "Day Zero," where everyone registers and gets.. ID cards, or whatever. Tomorrow the walking starts- sixty miles in three days- but I won't be there for that. I'll be at home doing what I always do. Apparently he's going to be doing something in the closing ceremonies, but it sounds sappy. The only reason I want to be there is to pick him up.
--
The five paragraph essay was freaking hard to do. The little paper we were given that just said things like "EXAMPLE ONE: NAME AND WHY." That led to some confusion, but it got done eventually. Is it entertaining to read? No. Will it be accepted? Hopefully.
And so, with nothing else to say, I now take my leave. I'll be fixing this up later, once I have more to talk about.
Teh SillyCircus Day 53- I got out of school and my brother didn't. He's so pissed.

Is manslaughter really all that bad?
Comment Commentary
Shin- Oh, now that you mention it, it's all coming back. ..Oh well. I still don't care.
Syk- It's funny because he's a druggie! :D
Syk- It's amazing how the mind can be so foolish at six in the morning..
Alea- 95% of rap I dislike.. There's occasionally a song that I may enjoy, but I despise the whole "gangsta image."
Mimmi- Horribly, actually. I haven't done anything about it in forever.
--
A year or two back when I heard they were planning a movie based on A Series of Unfortunate Events, my initial reaction was excitement. I have been a fan of the books for a while (Guilty pleasure), but when I came across the thirty-second trailer a few months ago I was horrified. Not to get into fanboy mode or anything, but all of it seemed to lack the appeal of the novels. That was to be expected, I guess, when you consider how much of it was in the narration.
OMfg Klaus gots no glssez!!1
Jim Carrey's performance looks like it is going to be a mixed bag. There are several instances where he plays a pretty good Olaf (or whoever Olaf is playing), but it looks pretty depressing.
..Well, not depressing in the way Mr. Snicket intended.
Will I see it? I probably will. I have a couple friends who loved the books and dislike the trailers, and it's as good an excuse as any to go to the mall.
Oh, yeah, the full trailer. If you aren't a fan / want to gouge your eyes out, click here.

Our insane and quite possibly crazy substitute teacher didn't show up in first period today. We stood around talking for about fifteen minutes, when one of the obese schoolyard dictators came over and let us into the room. After reading for a bit, the scary vice principal man (turns out his name is Mr. Norris, not Mr. Nords) and lectured us about why we should do our best in school. It wasn't really corny, and he wasn't really preaching. He's a good speaker.. He kept us entertained.
The math substitute was okay, I guess. I actually learned something.. For the first time in a while I had that cool feeling you get when you finally understand a math thing that's been bugging you.
Soccer was lame. We had to play on half a basketball court and hit the basketball pole to get a point. My teammates were well-abled, I guess, but we ended up tied with the other team anyway.
I technically got a point, but it was really hard to notice. There was no clangey sound, and the angle of the ball just changed slightly, but I didn't argue it. It doesn't really matter.
--
We went over yearbook assignments today. I was stuck with "eighth grade mugshots," which is apparently secret code for "you'll be doing all of it anyway, so let's just give you an 'assignment' to keep everyone quiet."
Truth is, the yearbook's my baby. It's my theme, it's my vision, it's my knowledge putting the program to use.. And yet everything I do (other than make a lame cover) gets shot down, no matter how much better it is than the other proposal.
I have a feeling the teacher wants to give everyone an "equal part." Screw everyone else, they'll only mess it up, walk out and have us fix it all in the end of the year. She doesn't want the pages to be dark with white text, either. She said she "doesn't think it would work," and left it at that. I dont understand why it wouldn't- as long as we tweak all the pictures a little bit, it would all be peachy keen. Having the cover I put out with cheery titles and vibrant, light backgrounds would not work.
I could threaten to make a transfer request to the office as my trump card, heh.
Teh SillyCircus Day 52- The kid in the commercial doesn't know what she's saying.. 3.2 megapixels? Pshaw, kid, we have 5.
EDIT: West side, biatch.

God bless you, Bong Boy!
Comment Commentary
Shin- I bet Ben Stein wouldn't laugh at him.
Mal- You mean like love and affection?
Godel- The pope said:
"I'm-a da Pope.
Give me money.
..Now, dammit."
Yeah, I know.
Syk- For me, it seems like it has been going on forever.
Alea- Good old Pope.. So he is useful.
Mimmi- It's okay, we're all here for you.
Solo- I would like to get Paper Mario 2, but because of the many awesome games coming out this year I'm afraid it is going to be held back for a while.
--
The Upright Citizens Brigade, a somewhat old show from Comedy Central, has been airing after school this week. I was first introduced to it a month or two back, and I found it highly entertaining. A week or two later I saw the same episode: the one with Bong Boy, menace to society.
Yesterday I saw Bong Boy yet again, but today I was sure to tune in and catch more of the madness. The first episode wasn't as good, and the second one totally owned it. I like how all of the varying sketches tie together at the end. You never get that from this genre..
--
Due to some sort of "conference" in Burbank, my English and Math teachers were not at school today. The subs were a little out there (crazy in a way that lets us talk), but it wasn't a big deal. We just did worksheets throughout, and I got into a small conversation about the Japanese language with someone sitting near me. She uses the audio tape lesson of learning, which I find rather lame, but it's comforting to know I'm not the only one half-dedicated to learning the language in this craphole of goths and people who confuse China with Vietnam.
We started soccer in Phys Ed today. Basically, all we did was practice the fundamentals, and it was dull. I don't like soccer (never have, never will), and I doubt playing at school in itchy uniforms will change that fact. I just want to get to hockey and football.
Oh, and we finally got the newsletter done. The teacher had a copy printed out (not to scale) by the time we got to class, and I found it surprisingly professional-looking. Apparently, she stayed at the school until five fixing things. There were still a few errors, fixed in a matter of minutes, and now it's done. I'm probably going to start focusing on the yearbook now. To ensure a lack of crappiness this time around, it has become my personal goal to eliminate any problems the moment they are detected, and to do so I must sacrifice some newsletterness.
--
And now, thanks to Shin, my lack of originality and the lyrics of one really lame rapper, I bring you..
A song which I dissect piece by piece and satyrize.
This particular song I saw on BET early this morning. It's a little ditty called "Why" by Jadakiss..
Aha
It's dat real
I don't believe you.
Yo, why is Jadakiss as hard as it gets
Hm.. That's quite a conundrum. Let me think about that one for a minute..
Why is the industry designed to keep the artist in debt
You tell me, Mister Bling Man.
And why them dudes ain't ridin' if they're part of your set
And why they never get it poppin' but they party to death
..I'm afraid I'm too white to get that.
Yea, and why they gonna give you life for a murder
Turn around only give you eight months for a burner, it's goin down
Fucking white people.
Why they sellin' [censored]'s CD's for under a dime
If it's all love daddy why you come wit your nine
..Whoa, albums for 9 cents or less? Link me up, Mr. Jadakiss. ..Or can I call you Jade?
Why my [censored, again]s ain't get that cake
Why is a brother up North better than Jordan
Oh, I get why you're so hard now! It's all of the deep, thought-provoking questions you muse over day and night. They make your brain large and, in the process.. Harden you? Feh, I give up.
That ain't get that break
Why you ain't stackin' instead of tryin' to be fly
Why is rattin' at an all time high
Why are you even alive
Go ask Confucius.
Why they kill Tupac n' Chris
Why at the bar you ain't take straight shots instead of poppin Crist'
I know.. Why ain't I takin straight shots? What's wrong with me? Jadakiss, you've made me see my faults. I'm going to turn my life around.
Why them bullets have to hit that door
Why did Kobe have to hit that raw
Why he kiss that whore
Why
Dude, have you seen that girl? She's, like.. Blonde. *rolls eyes*
[Chorus]
All that I been givin'
Is this thing that I've been living
The life of a rich, obsese, angsty hip-hop artist?
They got me in the system

An interesting little story..
I was on a random message board the other day (I'm too lazy to hunt down the link), about putting together computers and case mods. Some noob started a thread entitled "question." Curious to see what the lad with "x X" at the beginning and ending of his name with CaPiTaLiZaTiOn PrObLeMz wanted to know, I clicked the link.
"Wut is the diffence between regular moniters and lsd moniters?"
Somebody replied, "Dude, the colors on an LSD monitor are so vibrant. It's practically trippy, man." Curse him for beating me to it.
Just thought I would share that with you all.

Shin- Yeah, Miss Fey is witty. She's the only person on the show that I really like these days.
Alea- ..Well, what if it wasn't meant to? :P
Mimmi- One can only hope.
Syk- Not worse.. Cheaper.

Wow, even on a school day there's so little to talk about. It seems that talking about Journalism has sort of become a staple of my posts, so I guess I'll go on about that.
I didn't really realize how much space we had left on the newsletter until today. We only had two articles on the second page, so about 70% of it was empty. To take up some of that space, I increased the font size, and added in screenshots for my Pikmin 2 article (a month later) and the other guy's Street Racing Syndicate review. Aside from a lot of spelling errors and lack of structure, it was an okay article.. But it wasn't really a review. It summarized what you do in the game, without any critique or a rating.
There's still a few columns empty, but for the most part it was done. It really should have been printed over the weekend, but whatever. The yearbook is my prime concern and goal.
Oh, and I drew a funny little picture of the Pope on the board. It's oddly entertaining for no reason. What he says is not really all that great but I find it sadistically funny anyway. *shrugs* Maybe the Pope himself is easy to laugh at.

It turns out that the guy my dad works with has a wholesale license, which explains the cheap prices for the computer he put out. That's incredibly cool. I would like to milk him for cheap software in stuff, but that would be wrong.
..Or would it?
Bah, I'll edit this post later so I can come up with a good subject.
Teh SillyCircus Day 50- Half-Life is for PC gamers, Quarter-Life is for people who can only play Half-Life on PS2, and No-Life is for people who won't stop bitching about the game sucks on message boards.
EDIT: The Nocturne reservation is complete. I got the mandatory five dollars for reservation from my brother, got in the car and ran off to the mall. Before reserving, I walked around my regular places. Nothing really interesting, other than somebody spilling a chocolate shake on the DDR. Even an hour after I got there, nobody had cleaned it up. Such a travesty..
By the time I got into GameStop, there was a really long line. Tons of fanboys lined up- even some deep-voiced ghetto folk- all talking about the greatness of various games all at the same time. In front of me was some short Korean woman with her small child asking about the difference between Halo 2 and Halo 2: Limited Edition (or whatever it's called), and to my right were a few gangstas and a squeaky-voiced seventeen year old guy parttaking in a Superman versus Batman debate.
Every freaking one of them was resrving Halo 2, dammit. I swear, game stores have probably never been richer than when they started taking reservations for that game. I overheard one of the workers saying that there was going to be a midnight party on the release day, because so many people are going to be there.
Somebody remind me not to be anywhere near the mall on November ninth. The foul stench of Master Chief will fill the air, and hopefully it will clear out by the time Snake and Samus go on the prowl the following week.

Syk stole my comment commentary, which I stole from Karmi.. So I guess the circle is complete.
Comment Commentary
Shin- I like Wayne's World and everything, but they're not my favorite. Gumbi should have been higher, dammit.
Aleia- Represent.
Syk- I know what you mean about MadTV.. Since Will Ferrel left SNL, things have sort of sucked, but I'll get into that later.
--
I watched the season premiere of SNL (or, at least, part of it) last night. As expected, they did a sketch about the John Kerry/George Bush debate. Aside from a couple shining moments, it was a pretty lame sketch.. The guy doing Bush was nowhere near as funny as anybody else who has done him, but the John Kerry was interesting. His impression wasn't very consistent, but when he got it right it was spot-on. The sketch was really long, too.. Not fitting for an opener.
Ben Affleck was hosting, and his introductory monologue was lame, even with Alec Baldwin. Oh well.
The political commercial about John Kerry being a bad person was great, though. In the beginning, it had veterans who fought alongside Kerry who were talking about how he brought up economy issues in the middle of firefights, but by the end it had people who just saw "Platoon" saying that Kerry demanded three five star meals a day. It was good, but I was really tired by this point (even though it was only midnight), so I went to bed.
I guess I can't really review the episode overall, considering I only saw a third of it, but what I saw didn't really throw me. I really wanted to see Weekend Update, and how it would fare without Jimmy Fallon. If anybody saw it, did they replace him or did Tina Faye go it alone? I've always thought she was the stronger of the two, and that Fallon was always just kind of there.
To elaborate on my response to Syk's comment, I really do think MadTV has been better than Saturday Night Live for a while. Even before Will Ferrel's exit, SNL started getting a little stale, while MadTV got funnier and edgier every week. I don't mean to say that MadTV is better than SNL- after all, it owes so much to it- but I, personally, have found Fox's iteration more entertaining lately.

When I woke up today, I found a paper on my desk that had a copy of my computer spec sheet on one side, and some guy's "revision" on the other side. He changed the gig of RAM to 512MB, got rid of the backup hard drive and changed the main one from 120 to 80, put in a DVD RW alongside a CD-RW for some reason, and changed the Radeon X300 to a GeForce 5200. I'm not really fond of these changes, and the only thing that really was of use was the price he put down at the bottom. I haven't really taken the time to figure out a rough price guide, but the total came out to $1,250 including tax. It's a really useful figure for me, and it helped my dad realize that making an uber-computer won't cost four thousand bucks. Of course, with some of the things I intend on fixing, it will be a little more than that, but probably not that much.

I was going to take my brother's money and reserve Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne at the mall today, but by the time I could get a ride the mall had already closed. I guess I'll try again tomorrow.
Why am I reserving this game two days before it comes out, you ask? It's not as if it's a high-profile game that everybody is talking about and will be sold out ten minutes after it's put on the shelves.. I'm pre-ordering it because they are doing a special deal where you get a copy of the soundtrack if you pre-order it. From what I have heard in trailers and videos the soundtrack sounds pretty interesting, and it will be a real pain in the arse to find the OST after the deal expires.

Before I did my homework, I sat down and actually drew today. I haven't done that in a while, because I haven't found any inspiration recently. You could also add the fact that my drawings have totally sucked as of late (spare one I'm hoping to scan), but today I was inspired by reading the Naruto manga. The other day I was at chapter seventy-six (mid-Chuunin exam), but now I'm at 102, the Naruto/Neji fight in the third Chuunin exam. Kishimoto, the mangaka, keeps it all so fresh. The character designs, the techniques, and story.. It's really inspiring to me.
In the sketching, I tweaked a few of my characters' costumes, as well as came up with a few of those summoned spirits I mentioned months ago in that really, really long post about my ideas that nobody except for Shin commented on. I'm still sore about that, you lazy people.
Anyway, it was really refreshing to just sit down and draw. When I draw, it's as if the rest of the world sort of fades away. It's just the paper, the pencil and myself. Drawing is my way of escape, but when I'm really emotional about something I write poems. Hm, I haven't done that in a while, either..

We get Entertainment Weekly, and I really don't know why. When we got our Suncoast discount cards we got a "six week trial subscription" to EW, but almost a year later we still get it. Nobody subscribed to it, and nobody has renewed it. It's almost as if some strange, omnipotent force is trying to get us to learn all the gossip about Britney Spears and read about the breaking news in the magical world of Hollywood.
Do I read it? Yeah. I'm pretty much the only person in this house that does. There's occasionally an article or two that I enjoy, but for the most part I read it for the reviews.
That reminds me.. God dammit, I missed Ebert and Roeper! I wanted to see what they had to say about Shark Tales. I hope they tore it up, because it looks like like crap.
--
As I sit here, listening to Asian Kung-Fu Generation and X Japan, I'm getting sort of emotional about some of the songs. Even when the songs don't have lyrics in a language that I can understand, I can still understand the feelings the musicians are trying to convey with their songs. Is that the sign of a good band?
Teh SillyCircus Day 49- I don't fear the reaper as much as I fear Mrs. Reep, my English teacher.
