Farce.
Comment Commentary
Solo- Hail, o he who travels the skies on wings of oregano.
Shin- I like to think that the Victory Gin in 1984 is actually Mountain Dew.

I feel like I'm wasting my life.

Awful?
Comment Commentary
Ken- Gaara wears fucking eyeliner.
Andy- Since I never beat the game, I never saw that.
Shin- Yeah, but you can see those on regular old TV. Where's the internet jackassery?
Solo- I tend to shy away from novels based on games. Just because.. Well, they're novels based on games.
--
I'm feeling angsty.
But, on the bright side, that makes me artistic.
So woohoo.
--
I've lost all faith in intelligent design.
--
As you can see, I have started construction on my utopian society of Dew caps. Its name is Caffeinania, and it shall be a Kleptocratic Oligarchy.

THE INTERNET IS INFORMATIVE AND EDUCATIONAL
Comment Commentary
Azure- I still only have the first disc. I see the boxset everywhere for cheap, but I already have the first volume, which leaves me pretty screwed.
Andy- Because Cross Country is the nerdy man's football? :P
Tony- Heh.. Well, there's no turning back now. The program I'm in makes you stay with the same language all four years.
Solo- I like to think that they'll base the movie off one of the Halo novels, that focus on backstory and character development rather than "zomg asplosions." I've never read them, but there seems to be some good groundwork there.
Besides, Bungie has a list of things they can and can't do. It will at least remain faithful. :P
Ken- For some reason my mom proposed that idea to me the other day, and I had a major expression of "wtf" on my face.
Shin- But noooo, you just have to go bowling. God.

Google recently launched a video search tool. At the moment it's still in beta, so their pool of sites is rather small (most of the results are clips from CNN and legal stuff), but I've still found many an interesting item.
Somehow, that iPod-book-knockoff thing Ethan and I made in eighth grade got on there. We made a commercial in about ten minutes using Windows Movie Editor for the first time, so it certainly isn't anything to marvel at, but I think it's funny that, for a brief shining moment, this was the #1 result for "iPod" on Google Video Search.
We didn't have a digital video camera on hand either, which is why it's a slide show. Sue me.
But there are stranger, more evil videos at hand, such as two chubby teenage dorks lip synching to a White Stripes song. I have yet to watch it all the way through, nor do I have any real intention of doing so. By the point where they're in the basement I can't help but hit back.
Next is a live Devil May Cry 3 stunt demonstration video, and I don't know what to make of it. I guess it's kind of cool to see the wires and flying and stuff, but the guy in the trenchcoat seems like quite an asshole, and it's sad to think that someone took the time to choreograph this.
The dude in the mask is cool, though. I'd buy him a drink.
Ah, LiveJournal music and Naruto. There could never be a greater pair-up for an AMV.
And I have no idea what this kid was doing. Basically, if you're too lazy to hit the link, there's some jackass kid in a bunch of odd outfits waving his arms around majestically to the tune of "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service. Maybe he was trying for some sort of Numa Numa phenomenon, I don't know.
And finally, an interesting, non-retarded nature video from a French website. There's no audio, but I actually recommend watching this one. It really surprises you the first time (and it's even cooler to watch it in slow motion).
EDIT: Oh wow, MySpace has merchandise. And strangely enough, they're on CafePress. CafePress and MySpace.. Wow.

How do you expect to keep this place clean?
Comment Commentary
Tony- I wonder if they pay themselves for the publicity.
Ken- No, see, I thought it would be good.
Where the hell'd your gangsta elf avatar go?
Shin- Fsck yeah. I'm also waiting for the new Von Bondies album, and the apparently half-done Weird Al album.
DDG- Maybe if you click it it takes you somewhere else.. Like Bizarro OtakuBoards.
Andy- I consider myOtaku part of theOtaku. I enjoy looking at the comments on news posts for a laugh, since 90% of them are just so stupid, but I get most of my news from AnimeNewsNetwork anyway.
--
Ahahaha.. Peter Jackson is the executive producer of the Halo movie. Fun.

I've been sort of busy lately, which explains my lack of posting. Cross Country sucks up one to two hours of my life every day, plus homework, plus whatever else I might have going on at the time.
Today was a good example:
- Wake up
- School
- Cross Country for about an hour (easy three mile run in the hills)
- Go to friend's house for about ten minutes, eat Cheetos
- Come home, practice for piano lesson
- Piano Lesson
- College night at the school
- Homework
- Now
Funny this would happen the day X05 starts.
--
I think I've decided that Latin is my favorite class. There are some very interesting people in there, and the teacher's rather carefree and humorous, and I actually find the subject matter entertaining. Granted, it's moving very slowly right now (we're only getting to plural forms of nouns and verbs right now), but that should pick up eventually. One of the "interesting" people in the class is a senior who ditches his senior seminars or whatever every day to mess around in our class. Nintendo fan, fun.

Lame.
Comment Commentary
Shin- Well, yeah.
I'm going to buy some Modest Mouse albums this weekend, I think.
Tony- That's reassuring. If I can find $50 I'll go for it, and hope it motivates me to continue Digital Devil Saga 1.
Ken- It's not as pleasant when it's on a humongous LCD screen on Universal Citywalk, blaring into your ears as you're trying to peacefully consume your chow mein.

Wow, I suck.
EDIT: I just saw an advertisement for TheOtaku.com.. On TheOtaku.com. It's nice to see a banner, but I found that sort of redundant.

The Goldstein of music downloading.
Comment Commentary
Ken- *looks at your icon*
What the fuck?
Tony- Wait.. Is it the one where they switched one character from black to white, or white to black?
--
*looks at the Chromosome Cowboys Top Tracks list*
Who the hell has been listening to Mr. Brightside?
I also see DJ Tiesto in there (somewhere down by 140), which was unexpected, but I'm neither offended or pleased by his presence- I just have a friend who's into him, and I didn't expect to find him on there.
--
I think I'm going to import Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! when I have some money. It may be a while, considering all of the other things that take priority (Persona 2 and Digital Devil Saga 2 are immediate and urgent, due to the rarity factor, other things are less immediate), but I hear nothing but love for this game.
Either that or Band Bros. But I don't have enough friends with DSes to take advantage of the multiplayer.
Well, altogether, we could do three people, but that's hardly a Band Bros. Symphony. More like a band of Fifty-foot-wavian proportions.
Not in awesomeness, of course, just number of musicians.

Set it free.
Comment Commentary
Tony- The drive just says "DVD + ReWritable," and the discs say DVD+R.
Andy- If I maintain a proper balance of black and red, I might be able to maintain some sort of semi-human tone.
Tony- That's interesting. How much does it have to do with Persona 1?
Shin- If it was pouring, maybe I wouldn't be so happy, but this was relatively light.
Though my glasses got wet fast.
--
Wow, Origen is fucked.
Not that I had high expectations for it anyway.

Peanut butter crunch: Hardcore.
Comment Commentary
Shin- The coders sure love its caffeine content.
Tony- You know, to this day I have yet to see The Nightmare Before Christmas all the way through. The closest thing in recent memory is when I was in Blockbuster and they were showing the part where the three bothersome children are squealing out an irritating tune.
--
37 caps, counting the ones I have yet to drink (or pawn off).
I discovered that Sierra Mist is also doing this promotion, which eases the blow a little bit.
--
I wish I had never introduced my dad to Medal of Honor. He was, at one point, under the firm belief that console FPSes were superior to the typical WASD/mouse setup, so to prove him wrong I bought him some Medal of Honor: Allied Assault bundle. He got addicted quickly, but eventually subsided.. But it's back, and now he's in his vegetative state of worship that this crappy game puts him in.
Part of me wants to show him Day of Defeat: Source, just so he can play something off of a decent engine, but the other part of me screams, "No, he'll be even more addicted."
--
I ran cross country for the first time in what seems like forever today. Interestingly enough, the second I was all dressed and ready to go, thunder clapped and rain began to fall.
But we persisted, and it was awesome. Normally, in our wonderful, sunny Californian weather, you get really hot really fast, but the rain kept us nice and cool as we ran around the track.
I suppose it would have been better to go shirtless, but I'm not about to do that.
Anyway, three miles, I ran most of it (spare about a quarter lap at the end). We then came home, played some We Love Katamari, and messed around with Adobe Illustrator (which I have still yet to make something worthwhile with).
--
My DVD R + RW drive does not recognize blank DVDs. Which is bullshit. I bought a pack of about 75 DVDs, hoping to spread various things around (Family Guy movie, music, Half-Life 2 demo, etc), but it doesn't even act like there's anything in the drive.
It's nuts. I really need to reformat.

What, did my Dew hating scare you all off?
Comment Commentary
Shin- If I made comics half that offbeat I would consider my life a success.
--
I saw Corpse Bride today. It was all right- the songs were okay (My favorite was the one where the maggot and spider were trying to console the Bride), and the animation was lovely, but the character's weren't believable at all.
Bitchy sarcastic spoilers:
Victoria: zomg were getting married
Victor: *awkward*
Victoria: omg u play piano i liek u
Victor: Meh.
Victor (In crazy forest):Why, I suddenly have the ability to speak eloquently!
Corpse Bride: We're married now!
Victor: Oh no! Now I suddenly want to go back to that girl I just met three hours ago!
Victoria: ok now im gettin married to this dude
Victor: Oh no! Now I'm going back to that dead person I just met two hours ago, so I can kill myself and be with her 4evah!
Victoria: zomg victor dont marry her
Victor: Hooray, you're back!
Corpse Bride: Nevermind, don't marry me, you are so totally into her.
Victor: kthxbai
Now, I realize I'm knocking it pretty bad, but that's the general gist of it. There was very little motivation for the characters, as far as I could tell, and it kept me very detached from the whole situation.
It seemed rather short, too. It was pretty to look at, but other than that it didn't reach my expectations. I liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory more.
--
Mountain Dew update:
Apparently, many people at my dad's workplace do the dew, which is nice for me, but I can't help but feel bad for society as a whole, to think that this many people drink this crap.
EDIT: I need music. I might be coming into some money soon, so I think this merits a trip down to Amoeba Records.
Or a Bittorrent site. I can't seem to find a good one for music, though.

Crazy-ass hill repeats.
Comment Commentary
Tony- otakufangirl73329 stole her name from me, too. :(
James- You should patent the idea of magaziney articles used on internet video game sites, so they can pay you.
If that's how patents work. I don't fucking know anymore.
Andy- I know next to nothing about Indigo Prophecy except that it's an adventure game.
Speaking of which, I tried to find a good make-your-own-point-and-click-adventure application earlier, because I was bored, but I couldn't find anything good.
Alex- Guess not. Congratulations, you've reached the uncultured swine bin. :/
Tony- I remember when Paper Mario for N64 came out, so I kept going to Blockbuster to rent it every day. Eventually my mom said "screw it, this costs too much in gas" and just bought the game.
Shin- I kind of thought that introducing the Irish accented dude and giving him a purpose in the same episode was sort of poorly paced. They could have at least hinted at Jack's meeting him last season.
--
I've been feeling like importing a DS game lately (Oh, how I pray to the Gods that next-gen consoles won't have region coding).. Specifically, a music-related one. Either Band Brothers, Ouendan or Electroplankton, but I can't choose one (and review sites don't help at all- Band Brothers and Ouendan are pretty much the same everywhere I go, while Electroplankton's random). With Digital Devil Saga 2 coming out next month, I don't really have the money anyway.
--
Well, Pepsi Co. did it. They dragged me into buying their crappy answer to 7up with their damned Xbox 360 promotion. They have given me a reason to buy their poison.
Seriously, that stuff has to be acidic. The leftovers of the ones that my brother drinks (he actually likes it, that poor soul) I pour down the drain, and because of this, I swear to God there must be some sort of leak down there.
I have a little pile of caps already. Four codes, to be exact. I've been telling non-gamery people to buy Mountain Dew and give me the caps for an "art project" in which we need to find trash and recycle it into statues, which is obviously bullshit.
So I don't feel like a complete waste, I've been trying to build up a tolerance to the stuff, like one would with whiskey. It's a miserable experience, drinking Mountain Dew, but I somehow hope that- at least until October 31- it becomes my crack.
Gameplan for code submission:
1) Acquire at least ten codes
2) Stay up until four in the morning on a Tuesday
3) Insert all codes into one contest
4) Pray that I don't have to spend another $10 on this shit.
--
I read through The Perry Bible Fellowship archives today, and found myself tickled by its morbid sense of humor. Though I can't help how this guy's brain works.. Every other comic is about suicide or bestiality.
I just realized, what the hell am I doing updating at 12:30 AM? It's not like I'm Alex or anything.
:P
