Syk stole my comment commentary, which I stole from Karmi.. So I guess the circle is complete.

Comment Commentary

Shin- I like Wayne's World and everything, but they're not my favorite. Gumbi should have been higher, dammit.

Aleia- Represent.

Syk- I know what you mean about MadTV.. Since Will Ferrel left SNL, things have sort of sucked, but I'll get into that later.

I watched the season premiere of SNL (or, at least, part of it) last night. As expected, they did a sketch about the John Kerry/George Bush debate. Aside from a couple shining moments, it was a pretty lame sketch.. The guy doing Bush was nowhere near as funny as anybody else who has done him, but the John Kerry was interesting. His impression wasn't very consistent, but when he got it right it was spot-on. The sketch was really long, too.. Not fitting for an opener.

Ben Affleck was hosting, and his introductory monologue was lame, even with Alec Baldwin. Oh well.

The political commercial about John Kerry being a bad person was great, though. In the beginning, it had veterans who fought alongside Kerry who were talking about how he brought up economy issues in the middle of firefights, but by the end it had people who just saw "Platoon" saying that Kerry demanded three five star meals a day. It was good, but I was really tired by this point (even though it was only midnight), so I went to bed.

I guess I can't really review the episode overall, considering I only saw a third of it, but what I saw didn't really throw me. I really wanted to see Weekend Update, and how it would fare without Jimmy Fallon. If anybody saw it, did they replace him or did Tina Faye go it alone? I've always thought she was the stronger of the two, and that Fallon was always just kind of there.

To elaborate on my response to Syk's comment, I really do think MadTV has been better than Saturday Night Live for a while. Even before Will Ferrel's exit, SNL started getting a little stale, while MadTV got funnier and edgier every week. I don't mean to say that MadTV is better than SNL- after all, it owes so much to it- but I, personally, have found Fox's iteration more entertaining lately.

When I woke up today, I found a paper on my desk that had a copy of my computer spec sheet on one side, and some guy's "revision" on the other side. He changed the gig of RAM to 512MB, got rid of the backup hard drive and changed the main one from 120 to 80, put in a DVD RW alongside a CD-RW for some reason, and changed the Radeon X300 to a GeForce 5200. I'm not really fond of these changes, and the only thing that really was of use was the price he put down at the bottom. I haven't really taken the time to figure out a rough price guide, but the total came out to $1,250 including tax. It's a really useful figure for me, and it helped my dad realize that making an uber-computer won't cost four thousand bucks. Of course, with some of the things I intend on fixing, it will be a little more than that, but probably not that much.

I was going to take my brother's money and reserve Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne at the mall today, but by the time I could get a ride the mall had already closed. I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Why am I reserving this game two days before it comes out, you ask? It's not as if it's a high-profile game that everybody is talking about and will be sold out ten minutes after it's put on the shelves.. I'm pre-ordering it because they are doing a special deal where you get a copy of the soundtrack if you pre-order it. From what I have heard in trailers and videos the soundtrack sounds pretty interesting, and it will be a real pain in the arse to find the OST after the deal expires.

Before I did my homework, I sat down and actually drew today. I haven't done that in a while, because I haven't found any inspiration recently. You could also add the fact that my drawings have totally sucked as of late (spare one I'm hoping to scan), but today I was inspired by reading the Naruto manga. The other day I was at chapter seventy-six (mid-Chuunin exam), but now I'm at 102, the Naruto/Neji fight in the third Chuunin exam. Kishimoto, the mangaka, keeps it all so fresh. The character designs, the techniques, and story.. It's really inspiring to me.

In the sketching, I tweaked a few of my characters' costumes, as well as came up with a few of those summoned spirits I mentioned months ago in that really, really long post about my ideas that nobody except for Shin commented on. I'm still sore about that, you lazy people.

Anyway, it was really refreshing to just sit down and draw. When I draw, it's as if the rest of the world sort of fades away. It's just the paper, the pencil and myself. Drawing is my way of escape, but when I'm really emotional about something I write poems. Hm, I haven't done that in a while, either..

We get Entertainment Weekly, and I really don't know why. When we got our Suncoast discount cards we got a "six week trial subscription" to EW, but almost a year later we still get it. Nobody subscribed to it, and nobody has renewed it. It's almost as if some strange, omnipotent force is trying to get us to learn all the gossip about Britney Spears and read about the breaking news in the magical world of Hollywood.

Do I read it? Yeah. I'm pretty much the only person in this house that does. There's occasionally an article or two that I enjoy, but for the most part I read it for the reviews.

That reminds me.. God dammit, I missed Ebert and Roeper! I wanted to see what they had to say about Shark Tales. I hope they tore it up, because it looks like like crap.

As I sit here, listening to Asian Kung-Fu Generation and X Japan, I'm getting sort of emotional about some of the songs. Even when the songs don't have lyrics in a language that I can understand, I can still understand the feelings the musicians are trying to convey with their songs. Is that the sign of a good band?

Teh SillyCircus Day 49- I don't fear the reaper as much as I fear Mrs. Reep, my English teacher.
