I've lost Thrush. Oh, woe is me. You want to know why I have lost my sister? I lost her through that insideous force known as "football". Yep. Thrush Battersea is a football addict. She watches games for the sake of watching football. I hate football. Football is dumb. It lacks the inherent grace and beauty (and Czechs with cool accents) of hockey, and the rules are too complex for a game that involves chasing people around trying to get a leather ball. Of course, some may argue that equally dumb is watching people skate around after a chunk of plastic, but they are wrong for one important reason. I like hockey.

I miss hockey. When we lived in New York, we had cable, so I could watch my favorite hockey team: the Buffalo Sabres. Dominik "the Dominator" Hasek, aka "Slinky Spine", is one of the BEST goalies in existance, and is second only to Wayne Gretzky, who is the coolest sportsguy ever. But now that we've moved to Pennsylvania, not only do we NOT have cable, the only hockey team around is my arch-nemisii, the Philidelphia Flyers. And do they bother to play any games on network TV? NO!

Speaking of TV, though, I officially love my computer. I have 3 different DVD programs. We stayed up until 2 am last night watching SpiderMan. Now, Spidey is not my favorite superhero. That spot is reserved for either Nightcrawler or Wolverine, or possibly ShadowCat, but definatly not Cyclops or Jean Gray. However, the movie with Tobey MacGuire is really good. Of course, the fact that my youth leader's two boys (ages 8 and 5) were asking me if I had seen it yet had nothing to do with it. Yeah, right:

Boy One: Have you seen Spider Man?

Me: No.

Boy Two: Why not?

Me: I haven't bothered.

Boy One: Won't your mom let you?

Me: Um...

Boy Two: She might think it's scary...

So, in order to defend my super-hero loving honor from two little kids, I borrowed it from the library. Well, yeah...I may have easily injured pride, but I'm still a cheapskate. And once again, I have received due penalty for my procrastination. That's a really good movie. Of course, I didn't quite like the ending, because I'm a big believer in girl meets boy, boy loses girl, boy beats evil villian, boy gets girl type movies (yes, very woman's rights-ish of me...), and the ending was not quite that.

Actually, two other movies I've seen recently have been like that. One was Hildalgo, which is another good movie other then the end...DON'T READ THIS NEXT LINE UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN HILDALGO, OR WILL NOT MIND HAVING THE ENDING SPOILED!!! In the end, not only does the main character NOT get the girl, he ALSO loses his horse! Grr! At least the horse doesn't die...

The other was Princess Mononoke. Great movie too, if not for all the icky slime and blood. Yeck. I just watched that movie a couple of weeks ago. I was on a Miyazaki rampage since I discovered he and Studio Ghibli are producing "Howl's Moving Castle" which is one of my favorite books of all time. Thrush and I watched "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Princess Mononoke", and we want to see "Spirited Away" but the library that has it in our system doesn't send it out to other libraries. Very selfish of them. Anyway, I was surprised to admit that I actually like "Kiki" more than "Princess", which is strange.

My only complaint with Miyazaki is that Howl, the main character in "Howl's Moving Castle" is supposed to be a very handsome, twenty-something-ish guy, somewhat of a Bishy. Miayzaki seems incapable of drawing Bishies. Oh, well. The scenery more than makes up for it.

Man, I've rambled! Yikes. Well, I have to go. Later!

Oh, and DJ? L'chaim Tovim is Hebrew for "To a Long Life". It's pretty much just a blessing.
