Stuck To My Katamari: Mt. St. Helens and Kleenex.

Current Mood: Off Center

I'm still not feeling up to par and I hope this blog entry makes some sense. I appreciate all the well wishes. I hate not being able to breathe. The weather here is already well over 90 degrees (I like it warm, not blazing hot!) and I have a flippin' flu bug. It's bad enough being all fever-ish and stuffy...but when I have to venture out of the house for meds and what not it feels like I am suffocating! Meh.

I blame BankofKev for this cold. I think I caught the flu bug he had! I hate being immunosuppressed, I catch every cold/flu passing by and it takes me ages to get rid of them. Bah I say! Bah!

Today is May 18th, it's the anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Way back in 1980, before many of you were even born, Mt. St. Helens dumped a bunch of ash all over my hometown...as well as several states. It seems that in Washington state Moses Lake was one of the towns with the biggest ash falls. You can still go out into fields and find piles of ash laying around. I remember that day, it was really eerie.

Ash clouds over my hometown.

We had gone to church and pretty much were sent home. It started to get really dark, nighttime kind of dark. My dad was running round the farm trying to get the animals and equipment put into the barns. I wasn't allowed to leave the house since I was too little. I remember looking out on the front porch and a bird was sitting on the railing with all this "snow" falling on him. I was a bit confused since it was May and it was all dark in the middle of the day AND snowing! My dad got all the stuff around the farm taken care of and came back into the house still wearing a respirator totally covered in ash. He pulls out of his jacket an orange tabby cat. He said the cat came up to him when he was in the barn. This is a cat we had never seen before. So the kitty got to come into the house with us.

We watched the news about the eruption and I got a new cat. All that happened on May 18, 1980.

Well, I guess that is about it. John's really busy today since his company does this appreciation lunch where they invite all their clients for lunch. I usually go every year and help out since it's insanely busy, but I am too sick. Plus, the idea of eating steak while "networking" with clients and corporate executives while feeling all sickly is really far beyond what I can physically do today.

Everything is breaking down for me right now. I'm still sick, my internet connection has been iffy, my cell phone is not telling me when people call. Several days ago John called me 3 times and my phone didn't ring, say I missed the calls or that I had voice mail. I only know that since John asked me why I wasn't picking up my phone. Last night while John and I were playing video games my phone gives the tone that I have a message. It was the first of his three calls from the other day! I wonder if I will ever get the other two calls? Hopefully if any of you have called me you aren't mad at me for not responding...except for you Mamma Vash, we have our eternal phone tag game going on. LOL

Meh. I better take care of some stuff around the site before I poop out. I love you all and hope everyone is in much better health than I am. Laters!
