Rune, Part 1
This story is not a fanfic, as Shinimegami stated. This story is a Phoenix Blade original, and is copyright by law as mine. Any reproduction of part one, or each consecutive part, is forbidden by law, and you will be punished. Unless, of course, you have my permission. I wrote this two years ago, so it's not all that great compared to my others, but as I do these installments, I'm thinking of going over it a tad bit where I needed to cut off parts to get it finished(had a time limit). And now, Rune, the first installment...

Rune

Forsena… in a world infested with evil, the only hope of the people lied with a boy that was told to defeat it. The boy stood up to that evil. The people saw this and didn’t fear the evil any longer. Many years of happiness and prosperity followed.
Now, six hundred years later, this evil has been reborn. It has been reborn with even greater power and has been named Infini. The reincarnation of the boy has finally realized his destiny and searches for Infini, the great evil.

Screams of terror rang through the village of the Phoenix Clan. Many lives were lost in a single instant. People ran, but only to their death. The few lone people that stood up to the terror plaguing the city were quickly dispatched and their families were killed. There was only one that survived, and he barely did it. The only ones that survived besides that one person were away at the time. One of which was Rune Cuthalion, the reincarnation of the boy that vanquished the beast six hundred years ago. He now travels his journey to the town of Rhea where he has heard Infini has headed.
The sky was dark red, stained with the blood of Infini’s victims. The sky has been like this for many years now. Suddenly, the sky turned dark and it began to rain. Lightning struck and tree and a flaming branch fell to the side of Rune.
A long screech was heard and a man cloaked in darkness lunged at Rune. It was probably one of Infini’s followers. He unsheathed his sword to block the next strike, and was pushed into the flaming branch. He jumped and landed on a rock behind it. The creature stopped. It must be afraid of the flame. Rune picked up the branch and dashed toward the creature, but it ran.
Rune decided not to sleep that night. There may be more of those things. All he could think about was getting help from the nearest clan. He would have to pass through the town of Rhea to get there, though. He thought it would be best to stay there and rest at the inn.
The next day, Rune reached the gates of Rhea. It was still raining. That is strange because it rarely ever rains in this region. A man looked through a little window in the gate.
“Who are you!?” cried the guard, obviously frightened.
“I am the Phoenix Knight!” Rune answered.
“What… That name… could it be… Rune!”
“Just open the gate”
“Yes, Sir!”
The gate guard, reminiscent of what has happened to the Phoenix Clan, starts talking about it as he escorts Rune to the inn.
“Here we are, Rune. Welcome to the Lonely Dove Inn. By the way, some person from the Dragon Clan was looking for you.”
“That’s interesting. Thanks. I’ll look into it.”
“But, Rune, this guy is trying to kill you!”
“Kill me?”
The gates of the inn were thrust open as a man approached Rune. But it was not a man, nor a dragon. It was a hybrid between them.
“Are you the Phoenix Knight, Rune Cuthalion?” It asked.
“Yes, I am.” Rune replied.
“I am here to end your reign, and the Phoenix Clan with it, as you are the sole survivor.”
“But sir,” One of the Dragon Clan’s lower class members spoke, “perhaps the elder would like to see him first.”
“You insignificant little… perhaps you’re right.” Nuphotak growled, “Come with me, Phoenix Knight. That is, unless you want your life to end right now.”
“There was nothing else to do here. Perhaps this will be more exciting.” Rune murmured.
“Come with me then, Phoenix Knight.” Nuphotak snarled, “You shall fly on the back of a dragon, which people of your, ahem, caliber have not yet done.”
Nuphotak lead Rune outside of the inn where a Salamander awaited them. Rune, hesitantly, climbed onto its back. Nuphotak let out a strange roar, and the dragon took flight, heading toward the Dragon Clan.

“Sairga… Sairga… Wake up, Sairga.” A voice spoke, echoing through the darkness.
“Must… get up…” Sairga whispered to himself. He didn’t have enough energy left to do so.
Sairga painfully opened his eyes and looked into the night, seeing the debris from the Phoenix Clan, all of the victims from the attack, and his father.
“Who… are you?” Sairga asked, his mind bewildered.
“Why, I’m your father.” Sairga’s father replied.
“What happened here,” Sairga began, “and why am I injured?”
“You… must have amnesia… No matter what you do… you must listen to me… son.”
“I will.”
“You must never… listen to anyone… unless your amnesia… subsides. Join… the Shadow Clan. Their skills… will serve you well. But… most of all… hunt Infini… Tanuviel and… and kill… and kill… him… Avenge… our… people!”
Sairga stiffly rose to his feet, leaving the puddle of blood made by his left arm. He stood there for a moment, trying to right himself. Heeding his deceased father’s words, he limped through the shallow darkness of the night.
In the two long months that passed, Sairga became a member of the Shadow Clan. He eventually learned all of their most sacred techniques. He rose rapidly through their ranks, soon becoming one of their elite. He obtained a weapon of immense power, the Doom Blade, from the Shadow Clan elder and set out to find Infini. Although two months have passed, he has only seen glimpses of his past.
