Rue, Part 3
Come on, people. It doesn't take long to give comments.
“So this is where the beast lives?” Rune asked, “This isn’t much of a place.”
“You should not make fun of the beast, nor his dwelling!” Nuphotak snarled.
“You need to lighten up, Nupho.”
“You should address me as Nuphotak, not Nupho.”
“Whatever. Let’s just get this “sacred treasure” back.”
“That’s fine with me. The quicker this is over, the quicker I can finish the Phoenix Clan.”
“The longer I’m with you, the longer you seem less and less able to take seriously.”
“Argh…”
Nuphotak commanded the Salamander to land, but as soon as they did, the Salamander turned to stone.
“What happened!?” Rune yelled.
“That is why our clan cannot fight here. It is a sacred land that no dragon can set foot on.”
“If you knew that, why did you command your dragon to land!?”
“I, just like the Salamander, shall only be petrified for mere moments before I shall be revitalized.”
“Then jump off. That way you can help me.”
“Alright!” Nuphotak yelled as he jumped off the Salamander, turning to stone.
“That’s a way to shut him up….Jeez.”
Rune began the trek up the mountain, to the area the beast dwells in. The trek was long and rough, but easy enough to be passed. Rune could have flown, but what was the point in doing that?
As Rune grew nearer, he could feel the evil swelling in one of the caves. Just as he neared it, however, it disappeared. When he looked in, all he found was an orb. He quietly moved towards it. Soon, close enough to pick it up, he reached out to it.
He felt a tap on his shoulder, and swirled around, drawing his sword, to meet his foe. He stood, hesitantly, as a malevolent beauty stood before him. Could this be the beast that supposedly stole their treasure?
“Took you long enough to get here, Rune…” The Woman spoke.
“Who are you, and how the hell do you know my name!?” Rune exclaimed.
“We haven’t seen each other for nine years now, so I guess I don’t blame you for not remembering me.”
“Nine years…? Is that you, Luthien…?”
“Stupid! Of course it is!”
“So, you stole their treasure just to lure me down here, is that so?”
“Uh huh.”
“What made you so sure that I would be the one to come?”
“I heard of your whereabouts in Rhea, and seeing as how powerful you were, I took the risk of doing this, instead of trying to reach that town before you left.”
“Took the risk…? You’re speaking as if you would die were we not to meet.”
“In a matter, yes, I would die… My brother Infini, something happened to him about three years ago. He suddenly acquired an unquenchable bloodlust, and killed my family, as well as everyone that could possibly stand in his way. I fear that I am next. I need your strength, Rune!”
“But, Luthien… You know that I am no match for your brother when I have to protect you as well. I don’t mean to sound like a coward, nor a great hero, but I don’t want you to be anywhere near us when we finally battle.”
“Whether you want me there or not, you know that I and my brother have a psychic link with one another. You know that I can feel his presence, and, if he is coming for me, the best place to be if you wish to fight him… would be by my side.”
“You truly are one vicious person with your words…”
“That settles it. No matter where my journey may lead, you shall stay by my side.”
“…Damn… As much as I like you, this’ll really be cramping my lifestyle for a while.”
The two old friends began to walk down the mountain, with minor difficulties. When finally reaching Nuphotak and the Salamander, both were still petrified.
“Only a few moments, aye?” Rune spoke, to himself.
“Just wait a few more minutes, Rune.” Luthien spoke
“Well, I guess I’ll wait for him to return to his normal state.”
After waiting for a few minutes, Nuphotak returned to his normal state. They soon set off, with Luthien, back to the Dragon Clan.
Up on the Cliffside, roughly two miles from the Dragon Clan, Sairga stood, watching, waiting, for Infini to appear. Unfortunately, only his demons did. Seeing only small game, Sairga did nothing as the Dragon Clan vanished from the world. In a matter of minutes, all that was left of a massive clan was rubble.
