Her name was Lily. She was named after her mother, whose name was Lilac. Lily's favorite color was always lavender. In fact, one day she went to the nearest 'Hot Topic' and bought purple hair dye. Her father, the only family she had left, strongly disapproved. But dear Lily went through with it. The morning after she'd dyed it and walked down for breakfast, she earned a red hand print on her left cheek. She flinched as her father's hand met her soft skin, though she was so used to the pain she didn't feel it. Her eyes shone a murky green-brown as she glared at the man that claimed to be her father, causing him to shift his weight. She smiled to herself, a kinda smile, she only showed when she was alone. Instead of giving into defeat and showing her father he had won, she slipped her new, bright purple hair, and it brushed his rough face. Then she walked to school. Though the eight hours at school kept her safe from her father, she had to worry about the people at school. Lily and her best friend, Candy, had been planning on escaping the living nightmare. Candy was her one and only friend. Lily was quiet and bitter to everyone except Candy. Candy, however was friendly and kind to almost everyone. If someone hurt Lily, Candy would fight them, though her had her suspicions school wasn't the only place Lily was abused. It wouldn't have surpised Candy if Lily lived in an abusive household since Lily never wanted her to go to her house. Lily was in a daze the whole day at school, until the lunch bell rang. Her palms started sweating and she repeatedly wiped them on her pant legs. She took a deep breath as her and Candy stepped into the school cafeteria. Most of the kids in the room stopped what they were doing, focusing only on Lily. She licked her bottom lip and tasted the bitter blood caked onto it. Luckily her lipstick was dark enough to hide it from everyone including her father.
"There she is. The freak." A football player said loud enough for her to hear.
"Why does Candy hang out with her?" A cheerleaders beside the football player said to another preppie cheerleader.
Lily bit the inside of her cheeks, she wanted to run away. Away from this school, away from her father, away from life. Suddenly, all was silent as she felt an ease flood away the hate. She slowly and steadily walked to her and Candy's normal lunch table; away from the jocks, the preps, the Geeks, everyone. Here it was just the two of them, and Lily felt incredibly numb. Lily got out the lunch she bought for herself. Something shiny on Candy's tray caught her eye, she reached out for it but Candy hit it away. It was a safety pin; one of Candy's many, odd accessories. Candy shook her head disapprovingly, Lily felt a tear roll down her pale cheek; she wiped it away with the back of her hand. Before Candy could say or do anything, Lily snatched up the safety pin. Candy was just about to grab her hand when she took off running, as fast as she could. Lily held the safety pin to her chest possessively. She bit down on her lip hard and didn't stop until there was a pool of blood under her tongue. She held back the urge to gag from the disgustingly bitter taste and smell, but she knew it would only slot her down. She ran until she came to a cliff that pretty much dropped into the bowls of Hades. She pressed the point of the safety pin into her skin over and over again; until she felt light headed, then ever so slowly she fell forward. She thought she heard someone call her name as her toes finally left the ground. It was too late for her, it always had been. It was as though she was born dead, born with no soul. She was unconsious before she even hit the bottom, but as soon as she hit she was dead.
