i aRe ellyturit.
Okay, today I realized why I am easily one of the best writers on my staff. A lot of the people we have on staff are F-ing illiterate. They cannot write worth crap. Then, even when our adviser has edited their original hard copy and told them to change it on the computers, they ignore it and say that our adviser "doesn't understand". ... o_O I sat beside him while he was editing the stories in our entertainment section and it was just hideous. I mean, most of the stories at least had some credit to them; the person was at least trying, they just do not know how to write. However, when you have people that blatantly ignore instructions they are given, it is just bad. We had to cut about three-fourths of this one person's review because it sucked. Unfortunately, we are pretty much in a position where we have to put that in. Our main problem with this one guy is that he would use "too" when he should use "to" and vice versa... and he is a senior. He does try, though. He deserves credit for that. He also has the experience to know what he is doing with the entertainment section. He just is not the best writer.

I suppose it is partyl because when our adviser accepts people on staff, he does not just look at a person's grades. If a student has the want and drive to get things done, he will accept them. A person can learn to write better, but he or she has to have to want to do it. The paper's Editor in Cheif two years ago had less than a 2.0 GPA before he started the newspaper and he was one of the best that paper has had.

today seemed like a rather progressive day, though. We all just went home after we were kicked out at 1PM, and are going to work on stuff independently and bring it together when it is completed.

     I have some high hopes.
