Beaten Lamb
That child has a lot more feelings than you know.
You stand there, and scar the child’s innocent mind,
And somehow, you can walk about with a smile.
Whenever you beat him, it scars more than his skin.
It scars him down to his petrified soul within.
When the beaten lamb looks for love, what will he find?
Maybe he’ll find a dream where he’s loved by his mommy.
Maybe he’ll find a dream where he’s loved by his daddy.
Or maybe a dream that will only turn vile.
When the beaten lamb runs away, where can he go?
On black midnights, when the child should be asleep,
He’ll lie there, without a dream, and only weep.
When he cries for help, will people just pass him by,
Or will other scarred children maybe hear his cry?
When the beaten lamb looks for peace, what will he see?
Maybe he’ll find open arms, or just more cruelty.
Maybe one day, all of the screaming will cease.
Even if it’s in the next world, he’ll still find peace.
