Lost Fan Art Caption
Hey people!
My last Fan Art submittal - Final Sesshoumaru - took alot more work to get it up here on MyOtaku than you might think. That piece was actually the first piece I tried to submit when I joined earlier this month. But for some reason, the review board didn't post it up. I tried time and time again, re-sizing it, and lowering the resolution. But time and time again, it was held back.
But I think I know why. I emailed the review board and they never got back to me. I had to think about what I was doing wrong here. I had the piece in jpeg format, I sized it to fit the required limits, and I lowered the image resolution(too low), so what was it about the piece that was keeping it from being posted? The CAPTION.
I wrote a comment about my piece and Sesshoumaru himself. When I showed it to my girlfriend, (who is a HUGE Inu-Fan) she said it was a bit insulting and confirmed that the caption was the reason why the piece wasn't allowed to be displayed. She also noticed that the tile I gave the piece was also a bit offensive. So, what did I think about this whole ordeal?
The first word that came to my mind was "BULLSH!T!!!" I entitled the piece - 3 Legged Dog - Now, how can that be offensive? The dude IS a 3 legged dog! I know my subject material! He lost his arm in a fight with Inuyasha! If he ever reverts to his original Youkai( demon ) form, would he get his paw back? NO! So he's a big, scary, white furred 3 legged dog! Am I wrong? YOU tell me.
And the caption I put was this: My girlfriend digs all of those white-haired girly-looking anime guys. Like Zecchs Marquise( did I spell that right? ), from Gundam Wing, and Sesshoumaru - the 3 legged dog.
Well, it went something like that. Is that so offensive? I don't think so, personally. But what about you guys? What are your thoughts? I'd continue but right now, I have an important client with a design deadline to meet. So please, let me know what you guys think and I'll post up more later on.
Lates!
