Open Heart!
A day late... again... Sorry. ^^”
First of all, I would like to say:
Welcome back Master! And Happy Birthday!!!
Hiko, I got the kitty icons from... somewhere... >.< I can’t remember. T.T Anyway, I’ve uploaded some of the ones I have to HERE. So if anyone wants them, you can use them from there. XD I’ll upload more so that you can use them too. ^^ ... Soon... ^^’’’
I’m glad that you guys found the notes on public speaking to be useful. ^^ Usually, I won’t even look at my notes until the before my exam. ^^” So everything here’s been summarised for your benefit. ^^
Magnus, you’re right, every student should be told to practice. I know my high school teachers always told the class to practice in front of family, mirror or pets. Don't ask why my teachers said pets. o.o Anyway, none of them ever told me to practice my breathing. It makes sense though, coz we have to talk for longer and louder than we're used to. ^^'
Speed:
You can make the best speech in the world, but if you speak so fast that no one understands you, it won’t mean anything. So remember to clearly articulate every word.
Interest:
You should vary your pitch, inflection, speed, tone and pauses to keep the listeners alert and interested.
Fluency:
You should speak in a free-flowing and smooth manner. There should not be any jerkiness or hesitation.
Non-verbal Behaviour:
Maintain eye contact with as many people as possible, for about a second or two each. Don’t forget to avoid fidgeting and other mannerisms.
Other Important Points:
* Make sure everyone can hear you.
* If you have any doubts or you made a mistake, tell people. Coz you’ll lose points for saying that something’s true, when it’s not.
That last point (about the doubts and mistakes) is for interpreters, so I don’t know how much of it applies to other forms of public speaking. ^^” I think everyone here’s old enough to make that judgement yourselves. XP
I hope that all the information was useful. ^^ If I learn about anything else that I think are useful, I’ll write about it. ^^ And don’t forget to ask me about something if it was unclear, or you want a more detailed information. ^^
And this is for BKstyles:
That is all. ^^ Class dismissed! XD
