   Watching you go up in smoke. (a poem)
Eyes that changed with your mood
Green to blue when you'd brood
I sat next to you though it all
Now I have to watch you fall
I'm watching you go up in smoke
Holding back tears I choke
For a long time we hadn't fought
But I turn to find the scent of pot
Clinging to you like a child
When did you get so wild?
Was is that boy you're dating
I think you gave him too high a rating
He's gotten you addicted to a drug
All in exchange for a hug
I know you love him more than life
I know you want to be his wife
But doing this isn't the answer
News like this spreads like cancer
Please, just hear me out
This isn't what life is about
You turn away, not wanting to hear
My heart is heavy with grief and fear
Afraid that I'll see your grave
And the love that I gave
Will come with tears making me choke
As I watch you go up in smoke.
