Hazzark of Haven
Chapter 2: 15 years of growth
(it's kind longer than the last one, better have lots of time ^-^)
Flying through the clouds was a young boy about 15 years of age. He had dark brown hair that wasn’t short but wasn’t long either. His eyes were big and green; they shimmered as the light hit them.
The sun rose up from the hills making the clouds turn a violent purple. He zoomed even faster through the thick hordes of cumulous and cirrus.
“Hazzark you better slow down!! Before I come up there and beat you to a pulp!” Jeminya yelled up at Hazzark.
He smirked and sped up, losing the girl in a huff of cloud. “Don’t count on it Jem!” he yelled back at her.
She was a small angel child about the same age of Hazzark. Her big yellow curls fluttered behind her as she flew faster to catch up with Hazzark. Her eyes were bottomless and a dull blue.
“Hazzark you ass! The Elders are going to murder us if they find out that we are out here with no permission!” Jem shrieked with fear.
“No they wont and who says there gonna find us!” The angel boy replied.
Jem finally caught up to him and was flying by his side with her big blue eyes set in a worried gaze. “Oh come on! You know sometimes you’re just a big wimp!” Hazzark said looking away from her.
“Hazz, you already have three strikes against you! If the counsel finds out about this little adventure you’ll be sentenced for real!” Jem said worried about her very best friend.
“What! I only have two strikes on me!” Hazz said turning to her.
“No, remember your third was when you ‘accidentally’ stole all of the Woman counsel members clothes while they where in the bathing quarters.” She said recounting the event.
“Oh yeah, that was a good one, I enjoyed it thoroughly!” Hazz said smiling wide, and flipping to his back floating on his wings.
“You sick-o!! I can’t believe you!!” Jem said rushing off a head of him.
“Jem!! Oh come on I was kidding!!” Hazz shouted rushing after her.
The two flew through dense clouded sky toward a smug piece of land a drift in the sky. Fog hung low over a tattered building located in the center. As the two curious angels’ drew closer, the rotting land came into view. Brown and red with blood and cursed by so many worriers, who had died while trying to reserve this small piece of decaying territory.
“Ewww, it smell’s horrible!” Jem whispered pinching her nose and shivering next to Hazz.
“I know what you mean.” Hazz contorted holding his nose too.
They strode toward the small cabin like house. Even though they war between Haven and Raylexx was still in occurrence, the killing wasn’t as bad as it had been then. This piece of oh so beloved land had been faught over, and when they had stopped for a breather, it was no more a beautiful get away. What was left is what lay in front of the two teenagers.
“Hazz, this is getting really creepy. Can we go now?” Jem said jumping from a rat that had popped out of small pipe that run under ground.
“Let’s go in...” Hazz said ignoring Jem.
He lead Jem into the house, it wasn’t as smelly as it was outside the house. But it still looked terribly retched. Boards hung loosed from the floor, tiles lay broken by the walls. Green, moldy moss had grown over the stairs that lead to the upper half of the small home. The few windows that were cut in to the frame were boarded up and only small rays of light could escape into the dark rooms.
Hazz climbed the mossy stairs with Jem in his wake. “You don’t think people still live here do you?” Jem asked looking at all the moth eaten drawings.
“I dought it. This place has to be at least 50 years old!” Hazz said in an amazed tone.
They got to the top of the stair well; turning left they came upon a small room.
In the corner they was a bed that was covered in dust and its covers were a bit ruffled. There was no window in this room and it seemed to be the darkest room in the house. In the corner or the room was a small closet. It loomed in the darkness; it seemed out of place in some odd way.
Hazz walked over to the distorted closet and reached his hand over to the old wooden handle. “Hazz!! What are you doing?!? You don’t know what’s in there!” Jem said grabbing his hand and trying to pull it away. Hazz paid no attention to her, for her was too intrigued by a door. (A/n: ….a door) “Hazzark are you listening to me!!” Jem pulled with all her might but he wouldn’t budge.
“Jem, the worst thing that could be in there is a rat or two!” Hazz said reaching for the handle again. This time Jem could not stop him, he was much too strong for her. His large hand touched the handle, it glowed a bright white! The edges of the door glazed with the same white as well. The door began to shutter.
“Hazz what’d you do!!” Jem shouted moving away from him and the door.
“I didn’t do anything, dummy!” he retorted struggling for a bit, “It won’t let me go!” He shouted pressing a foot up against the door and tugging his hand away.
“What are you talking about? Just let go of the handle and let’s get out of here!” Jem shrieked looking all around her.
“I’m serious Jem!! I can let go of the damn handle!!!”
The flood shuttered underneath tem making Jem fall to her knees for support. The door, in which Hazz was glued to, jumped around madly.
“Jem get out of here before the whole place comes down!” The bewildered angel boy yelled to his friend.
“Now way! What about you!”
“Dammit Jem just get out of here!”
Jem new that tone he was being serious. Tears welled up in her eyes as she rose and zoomed out of the room, using her wings to carry her so she would go faster.
The bright white light surrounded Hazz as the house shook violently. As horrible as this disaster was, Hazz’s hand was freed from the handle. He stared down at his palms confused, when the house gave a great shudder that awakened him from his transfixed state.
“Shit I gotta get out of here!” Hazz rushed out of the room and got to the stair case. He stumbled down the first step, when his foot got to the second one he went head first down the whole flight of stairs. Hitting the wall violently. When he reached the bottom unharmed he stood up and rubbed his head and shoulders in sorrow. “Why didn’t I just fly out of here??” He thought out loud. “God Dammit!” He kicked in his white feathery wings and rushed out from the building.
Hazz flew a few feet away putting some good distance between him and the collapsing building. It tumbled to the ground with a loud thud. First the pillars gave way then the sides of the house. Finally the roof came crashing to the ground. The once standing, but rotting house, now stood in a heap at the foot of Hazz.
“Oh man...” He said taking a last glance at the heap of rubble before tracing his path back toward the city of Haven.
***********
When he reached the city borders, the whole city counsel and the Elders where there waiting for him. Jem was in the front looking down at her feet, avoiding Hazz at all costs.
“Getting into trouble again Mr. Hazzark.” One of the Elders said. He had long gray hair and wore a long white robe.
“If you say so.” Hazz said playing it cool.
“I fear it is a little more serious this time Hazz.” He whispered down to him. Hazz avoided his gaze. “Please come with me.” The Elder said ordering him to follow.
Hazz followed still maintaining his gaze on the ground, he could tell something horrid was about to happen, they were headed toward the old court houses.
“What next.”
LONG I KNOW...sorry!
